I'm in Canada and with Telus. I'm asking all the Android and desire users on. How to receive stock Android updates from google via OTA, just like nexus one. I know that u can get stock Android through rooting and downloading the file. But I'm asking if it's ever possible to receive OTA update straight from Google without being altered by HTC and the service provider.

I just want my calls to my cell to go to my cell voicemail but I can not figure out how to deactivate whatever I've done. Can anyone help?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThere have been numerous times when people have tried to phone me and it's gone straight to voicemail. I know when using GPRS you can't use voice and data at the same time but I can't figure out what's using the data stream. I only have the weather application which updates every 3 hours but even when it's not due an update this issue has occurred. Can anyone suggest how to figure out what's using data? The only fix I can think of is to turn off Internet while in a GPRS area assuming the problem is a clash of data / voice.

View 7 Replies View RelatedNavigation will work fine initially, but the next time I go to use and I enter in a destination, it just stays on the "calculating route" (or whatever it says) screen. I have to go into Applications - Maps and clear the data there, then restart and it works fine then, but it's a bit of a ball ache because that clears the list of previous destinations. Anyone else having the same problem? It was fine before the update, but I don't know if it's a Froyo issue or an issue with the map update as I updated them both on the same day.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI added the birthday to a contact the other day but it didn't appear in my calendar on the phone, even though I have the Google 'Contacts' birthdays and events' enabled and it has worked fine in the past.
To cut a long story short when I add a birthday a new entry is created in the Google calendar but it doesn't appear on the phone even after multiple syncs. The only way to get it to appear (or to get the test ones I tried, to disappear) was to remove the calendar from the phone and then add it again (Calendars>Menu>Remove----Menu>Add).
My brother received the update this morning, but I never received, and neither did my friend. I am wondering, will this be fixed these days? or does this mean I have to apply manually? I am not a professional at that type of thing, I am not too familiar with smart phones, so I am worried if I apply it manually I would screw something up.

It happens both on my Droid and in the chat client in gmail. The reason I'm asking here is that it only seems to be affecting my buddy and me and we both have Droids. But it sends the email with the transcript just fine. If the email is fine and shows the text of the voicemail, then why is it not showing up in the app? Does anyone know how to fix this?

The other permissions that it requests I can somewhat understand, but why on earth does it need access to my SMS? My accounts and my phone calls?
I'm using Google voice exclusively for text messaging. Right now the only way to send/receive texts is to use the google voice app, but I would like to do that through the native message app.

I am able to send and rec sms through google voice and my new GV # but I can only send sms from my att number. I cannot receive any sms from my att number and people who are sending them do not get any kind of message they just get lost in the network somewhere. They are suggesting that I set up 3 seperate APN profiles - is this right? I already have an APN profile called "Vodafone PAYMONTHLY" where I have data set up. Can I just add MMS settings in that one? Can someone also confirm their MMS settings on Vodafone UK?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.
