View 1 RepliesI don't know if this is an Android in general or Desire specific problem but I imagine all the sharpest minds have HTC Desires anyway so here goes:How do you get rid of the trail of previously visited sites that you step back though in the browser when you press the phone's back button? After clearing the history these pages persist and it seems the only way to lose them is to step back though each of them with the back button until you reach your home page when the next press finally 'closes' the browser. It's very annoying, especially if any of the pages you've visited have POST data or redirects.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi am looking for a way to directly switch off my android 4.1 htc desire 600 dual sim phone by long pressing the power button presently, when i long press the power button, a dialog appears with the choices of Reboot, Airplane mode, Power off
i read somewhere that *#*#7594*#*# will disable this dialog box and directly switch off the phone but this is not happening
if you know any way or if there is such an app to do this
my phone is not rooted
I recently upgraded my htc desire s to the official 3.5 sense version and them to the endymion rom and both have something quite annoying in all browsers I have tried (dolphin, stock and boat browsers).
What happens is pressing back sends me to the top of a web page, meaning I have to press back twice to get to the previous page. It's not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.
I have the tronsmart CX-919 mini pc running 4.2 and there is an issue with the browser reverting back to the home page or the previous page. When I try to display a webpage on our intranet it reverts back to the homepage or previous page after about 3 hours. I need it to display constantly. I read somewhere that it was a Download Manager issue and disabling it would work but I can't find where to disable it. Also it was stated that Flash was an issue but i tried uninstalling it and it just reinstalled itself and the problem kept occurring. I just want to display a page in a browser and for it to stay on the screen (full screen) until I manually navigate away from it. I plan to leave it on for weeks at a time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs an avid user of ADW and Launcherpro, I encountered some problems after the update to 2.2. For instance, If I switch to LauncherPro, and set it as default via "Home Switcher", the next time I hit the home button it still takes me back to Sense. The solution I found is this:
1. You cannot use Home Swithcer.
2. After uninstalling Home Switcher, go to Settings> Applications> Manage Applications.
3. Click the tab to show all, navigate to "HTC Sense", clear it's defaults.
4. Now, the next time you hit Home, it will ask what to do. Select the launcher of your choice and make it default.
From here out, you can use Home Switcher to launch a different launcher, but know that the "Set Default" action will not work for 2.2. You will have to clear default for whatever launcher in order for home to function properly for whatever launcher you choose.
After a (brief) look around here, I have a couple of questions. Is it possible to change tracks by long pressing the volume keys?
It seems this is possible on the nexus one. How would I (can I?) put this on my desire.
Would I have to root to get it to work or is it something that is/might come with 2.2?
I created and binded a service in an activity and I would like to know how I can avoiding the android application to stop when I press the back button. When the back button is pressed the onDestroy method is called and I unbinded the service in this method. I try to prevent it by taking care of the back button event and manually call for onStop() method but it always called onDestroy after, why?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI notice on my eris that when i am on a menu with a black background that if i hit my back (bottom button) a little firmly, right above the button on the lcd kind of changes colors. Like if you press your laptop screen, its only a little bit though. If you could, please try this and report back.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever I press the home button when Im in the root task of my application and when I click on the icon of my app again the state of my task (activity) is retained, but when i press the back button on the emulator and when I open my application its state is not retained. I want the state to be retained in both the scenarios.
In the mnifest I have given the below entries,
android:alwaysRetainTaskState="true" for the root activity
android:launchMode="singleTask" for the application
When i leave my app after pressing home button and then re launch it from menus it behaves in a strange way.Sometimes it launches the same activity on which i pressed home button. But sometimes it launches the first activity of my app. One reason for this could be that whenever system has memory shortage it clears any activities existing in But the strange thing is if i press back button from first activity it takes me back to the same activity on which i pressed home button and all other previous activities are also there(like if i press back button again previous activities also exist.)I haven't set any launching mode for any activity in my app(like single instance etc). What i don't need is that previous activities load on pressing back button on first activity.

Some Diagnostic Info:
- I live in SC where it has been quite hot.
- It first started this weekend after being in the car dock for 15mins. Afterward the phone was very warm.
- It seems to stop after the phone has cooled.
- It started happening again today in a 78 Degree air conditioned apt. after using the phone for 30mins.
- After letting it sit to type this, it has seemed to stop.
- Pressing the edges of the screen seems to reproduce the issue.
- Moisture stickers still have the red x's on em.
- My screen is as clean as can be
From reading other posts, I'm well aware it could be a moisture/humidity/heat thing. But it shouldn't be doing it in my AC'd apt. I'm also aware some say its greasy fingers/screen. But as I've mentioned my screen is very clean & it still does it.
Some History:
I've had my Droid since November. I've dropped it ONCE on the pavement some time in January/February. Afterward everything has worked fine. About 2/3 months ago I noticed my screen started randomly clicking things. (In my Apt.) Fearing it was going to call someone, I immediately did a battery pull & cleaned the screen. Everything was fine until this weekend.
I'm getting married mid august, and don't have a whole lot of time/money to fix this, but need the phone desperately during the next month. I was hoping someone would have some advice for me.
I do not have insurance. Is this covered under some warranty?
I am rooted (CM5.07/No Theme). Should I do a factory reset b4 I take it in?
Will they do anything other than tell me I'm screwed?
I do not have a refresh button on my htc hero default web browser. A lot of people are stating it is on "menu" then the bottom left button but my bottom left button is "bookmarks" and no option to refresh page.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy question is about restoring complex activity related data when coming back to the activity using the "back" button". Activity A has a ListView which is connected to Array Adapter serving as its data source - this happens in on Create(). By default, if I move to activity B and press "back" to get back to activity A, does my list stay intact with all the data or do I just get visual "copy" of the screen but the data is lost? What can I do when more than activities are involved? Let's say activity A starts activity B which starts activity C and then I press "back" twice to get to A. How do I ensure the integrity of the A's data when it gets back to the foreground? Prefs Manager does not seem to handle complex object very intuitively.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a link in my application that triggers a webview to open from webview.loadUrl. Sometimes it's takes quite a while to load the page, and in these cases I want to be able to use the built in back button on the phone to cancel the loading and go back to my application. How do I do this? Is there some way I can listen to the back button while loading the URL?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll activities in my application require a user to be logged-in to view. Users can log out from almost any activity. This is a requirement of the application. At any point if the user logs-out, I want to send the user to the Login Activity. At this point I want this activity to be at the bottom of the history stack so that pressing the "back" button returns the user to Android's home screen.
I've seen this question asked a few different places, all answered with similar answers (that I outline here), but I want to pose it here to collect feedback. I've tried opening the Login activity by setting its Intent flags to FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP which seems to do as is outlined in the documentation, but does not achieve my goal of placing the Login activity at the bottom of the history stack, and preventing the user from navigating back to previously-seen logged-in activities. I also tried using android: launchMode ="singleTop" for the Login activity in the manifest, but this does not accomplish my goal either (and seems to have no effect anyway). I believe I need to either clear the history stack, or finish all previously- opened activities. One option is to have each activity's onCreate check logged-in status, and finish() if not logged-in. I do not like this option, as the back button will still be available for use, navigating back as activities close themselves. The next option is to maintain a LinkedList of references to all open activities that is statically accessible from everywhere (perhaps using weak references). On logout I will access this list and iterate over all previously-opened activities, invoking finish() on each one. I'll probably begin implementing this method soon.
I'd rather use some Intent flag trickery to accomplish this, however. I'd be beyond happy to find that I can fulfill my application's requirements without having to use either of the two methods that I've outlined above. Is there a way to accomplish this by using Intent or manifest settings, or is my second option, maintaining a LinkedList of opened activities the best option? Or is there another option that I'm completely overlooking?
In the last few days I am having to press the back button twice when using both the stock android browser and the latest version of chrome on my rooted S3.

I had developed a simple game for android, and just published on google play.Problem is that I can't find it anywhere, I had search for the name of the app, and it doesn't give me any result, how much time does it take until my app is visible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my first ever smart phone and android phone so excuse me if this is a silly question! I've noticed that after closing the web browser (well hitting the home key as there is no obvious exit option) and then re-opening it, the browser shows the page I was last at which makes me wonder if it's still running in the background and consuming battery (same with the PDF viewer). Am I right in thinking this and if so how do I close it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhile browsing, I often like to open a linked page in a new window, so do this via long pressing the link. However, it seems to me to be totally random whether long pressing a link brings up the context menu (which is what I usually want), or goes into text selection mode.
How do you control over which of these two actions occurs when long pressing a link?
I like buttons, but I also like options. Just wasn't sure if there was an app to incorporate a software based back button in the OS or at the very least within the browser.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor quite a while now, people have been saying how long it takes for me to answer my phone, even though it's usually on my desk and I get there after a couple of rings.
So today I tested it out. I rang my mobile number from my landline, it connected and started ringing, but it got to about six rings before the LED on my mobile started flashing and a further two rings until it started ringing!
I'm on T-Mobile, but it seems to connect OK, just take a while to register on my phone. Obviously this isn't the end of the world, but I use my mobile for business and it doesn't make me look very good!
Any way that you can make the back button in the browser retain the same function that it normally would - IE taking you back to the last program you were in. I hate how it takes you back a page instead - I mean the Browser's back button is there for a reason, right?
View 9 Replies View RelatedYouTube videos takes longer to load. My browser sometimes doesn't load web pages completely and the speeds are way slower then 3g... Well atleast on my end... I'm in Baltimore and 4g is very much up and running. Not ranting, its just that 4g was one of sprints selling points, jus think it could be a bit better.
