I'm using Google voice exclusively for text messaging. Right now the only way to send/receive texts is to use the google voice app, but I would like to do that through the native message app.

I can not send or receive texts. Verizon did send my ringtones via text but for whatever reason I can not send or receive.

If i turn this off while I am home or in my dorm and connected to wi-fi

1) Receive Texts

Got a problem with my new Samsung galaxy S2 that's stumping.Several times a day, for several minutes at a time, I'm unable or send or revive text messages. During this ~5 min window I am also unable to make or receive calls. Outgoing texts will time out and outgoing call just stay at "dialing" and then time out. The issue resolves itself after a few minutes.
NOTES:
• This started when I switched to an iPhone on Sprint from my Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. Thinking it was the iPhone issue, I switched to a Galaxy SII... which does the exact same thing.
• I have signal bars the whole time
• my girlfriend, who shares the cell plan and my house never has this issue (she has an Evolution 4g)
• tried updating the PRL, profile and even had Sprint reset my MSID#.
• happened on stock EK02 ROM, and rooted EL29 roms.
On my new Android phone I setup my Google Voice number and set it as my primary number to use on the phone. I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding
an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM
with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -
Dear, I have tried to purchase some products from a business company, I have attracted by high quality products, low price and enthusiastic services, I think if you are free, you can go to see: styleele.com, picking your interesting <<followed by a link here>>
I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
I've been using Google Voice on my Env Touch for about a year now but only mainly for the sms transcriptions as the Env Touch doesn't have an app for it.
So, here's my main problem. All of my contacts are just in my phone. I don't have anyone's email address as all I do mainly is txt people or send them a message on facebook. I'm wanting to add all of my contacts to my gmail account so when I get my Incredible everything will be there. Right now my sms from GV just has the number and I actually don't know any of my friends numbers, they're just in my phone. *yes, technology can be a sort of burden at times* So I don't have a clue who the voicemail is from until I call into it. Is there any easy way of porting all these contacts from either my phone, backup assistant, or facebook? Also, do android phones take your contacts and your facebook and merge them into your gmail account?
I tried desktopsms but it never sent the messages I tried sending! I'd like one that allows a usb connection as well as wifi..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI?ve had my HTC desire for about 3 weeks until now not had any problems, but now i can?t seem to make or receive calls or text. When I try to ring someone it just beeps and ends the call. When someone rings me it says unavailable. Nor can i send or receive texts. I?ve spoken to my network operator and everything is fine on their end and also got a new sim card from them just in case it was a sim card fault. Anyone know what the problem could be?

I have Verizon and I just got the new DX.I can make and receive calls, make and receive emails, access internet/market and everything except for send/receive text messages.I have unlimited texting on my plan so it's not that, all texts refuse to be sent and I'm not getting any incoming messages either.anyone else get this?What's a fix?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEven after numerous factory resets, through both the Volume Down+Send+End and Settings>Privacy>Factory Reset methods, my Eris has been unable to send or receive texts, and will not allow me to send or receive calls. When I try to text, I get an SMS error with Cause Code: 34 and Error Class: 3. When I try to call, I get an automated error saying that my phone can't be authenticated at this time, and am advised to call #8899. Even after doing so, I get the same authentication error. Wi-Fi seems to work correctly, and my Google and Facebook accounts all sync pretty much perfectly. Is anyone else having any kind of problem like this? And, either way, does anyone know of any possible alternatives that may fix the problem besides a total replacement of the phone?

It was working fine yesterday, but then out of nowhere it stopped working, I've been asking friends from different carriers, emails, etc to send me TXTs and MMS but I still can't receive them, I contacted my Network and they did OTA update, I even did it manually deleting the APN searching for the network etc. but same issue, I can send txts/mms but I can NOT receive them. any suggestions?

Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone...
I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.
Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big

I was also using it for texts, or so I thought, but yesterday I found out (by looking at my friends phone), that after I sent him a text, my carrier's number was the one that showed up as the sender, instead of my Google Voice.
I thought Google Voice automatically used your Google Voice number for texts too? Am I doing something wrong in the middle?

I'm having a problem that just started today for some reason (maybe I messed something up).I've been using Google Voice for texting as well as sending/receiving phone calls. Up until today, whenever I got a text message it notified me through Google Voice app on my phone.The same thing with voicemails.But what happened today is that it isn't notifying me for some reason.To actually "receive" the text messages and voicemails through Voice, I have to go into Google Voice app and hit "refresh".Under "sync and notifications" for settings in Voice, I have "synchronize inbox" checked as well as "inbox notifications" so that I'm notified in the status bar when new items arrive.And like I said, up until today it was working flawlessly, but now I have to hit "refresh" to receive them in Voice.

But it sends the email with the transcript just fine. If the email is fine and shows the text of the voicemail, then why is it not showing up in the app? Does anyone know how to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI flashed a rom to test for somebody, but it's not too stable, I started a few texting conversations and some good byes to friends, I really want to go back to the stable version before tomorrow so I'll have a stable phone to use for my first day of college. What if my phone was supposed to receive a text during the time I'm in recovery or fastboot mode? Will I get the text right after I boot up into a rom for the first time or will I just not get it? View 3 Replies View RelatedThere's actually a phone made by Fujitsu that's similar in that it can be booted into the full desktop windows 7 32 bit by the switch of a button. The downside I see to it is that when you are running it the phones radio is turned off so you can't receive calls or texts also the phone UI is some proprietary Fujitsu software. I am able to send and rec sms through google voice and my new GV # but I can only send sms from my att number. I cannot receive any sms from my att number and people who are sending them do not get any kind of message they just get lost in the network somewhere. People in general and my boss are getting mad because they think I am just ignoring them.

Most of my friends have iPhones and when they send a group text message it shows up as a blank message for me. I downloaded Go SMS Pro and it still doesn't work in there. I don't want any app that would give me a new number. BTW, I receive group texts from those of my friends that have Windows phones just fine.
