Nov 4, 2009Never had a phone that was worth buying a case for. I have a hard shell case on my iPod and it's done a good job keeping the thing from getting beaten up (despite my repeatedly dropping it).
Is one better than the other (hard case vs. rubber)? Also, will putting a case on the phone stop you from being able to slip it into that multimedia station?

Sep 20, 2010So I bought my LG ally and the sales rep walked out with a bunch of cases and asked my favorite color. I chose the clear one. I love the sales rep to death cause he is actually a really good friend, however, I don't feel safe with the cheap-feeling plastic case. Its the clear one that flexes alot and stuff. DOes it really protect it?I had the body glove on my old env touch and, while working on a 3 story roof on the phone, dropped it and it landed straight on concrete. Walked down, picked it up and finished my call. On the other hand, I drop my ally out of my car on accident and the case simply falls off.if theres no benefit, i'm just going to take it off as it looks dumb.

I had a Body Glove one for my previous phone, a Samsung Glyde, worst phone ever made BTW, and it broke within 2 months, and I had another similar one for my Droid, the first one broke in less than a month and the one the store replaced it with broke in just over 2 months. I know I will more than likely not find what I am looking for because the slide out keyboard is a selling point for this phone, but mine keeps sliding out in my pocket and I am concerned that the open portion of the keyboard might bend, flex or crack if it is bent the wrong way. Sep 17, 2010So I woke up to my phone play a ringtone over and over. I couldnt stop the ringtone and it wasnt from an alarm. It was sitting at home screen just playing this ringtone over and over. So I turned the phone off and went back to sleep. When I turned the phone back on after I awoke it hard reset itself and made me start anew. No apps i downloaded, no ringtones or wallpapers except those on my SD card. Luckily I used backup assistant to get my contacts back but wtf?
Has this happened to anyone else? The only app Ive downloaded recently is ourgroceries which I linked with my wife. the phone doesn't change settings, only needed Internet access and something else trivial. I am very very careful with apps I download.
Again, anyone had this issue? Any reason why this happened?

Oct 19, 2010I have been able to mount my phone (HTC Hero) as a hard drive using windows xp, but I started using Ubuntu 10.04 and when I plug in my phone it mounts for a few seconds and then either unmounts for good or unmounts and tries to remount right away. Sprint HTC Hero :: Hard Resetting Rooted Phone
Feb 14, 2010I havent received ANY texts for the past two days. I've uninstalled the latest apps I've installed (Task Killer & Texas Hold Em). I didnt have many installed to begin with and still had 86mb free before uninstalling them. i've restarted and pulled the battery over and over. still nothing. my phone is rooted with Fresh 1.1 and I have the Gumbo kernel. NOW... i'm thinking about trying a hard reset to try and fix this SMS issue. can i backup my phone to where i dont have to do the manual rooting all over again? that kitchen didnt work for me and i really dont feel like running thru all that code again. what all does a backup actually back up?

Nov 3, 2010I am a huge Android Forums newbie, but I really needed help with backing up my phone information before hard resetting. Basically, the primary email that the phone is running under is an email for a company I no longer work for so I don't have a valid email there. Because I can't log into my work email, I can't log in and download any new application so unless you guys know of a different solution, I guess my only option is to hard reset and then make a new primary account. However, I would like to save all my contacts and texts messages [if possible, although I hear it's unlikely], but since I can't download any new applications, I also can't download any storage applications for my phone.

Jun 2, 2010I was having a bunch of issues with crashes, lag, bluetooth, and 100% awake time. And now they're gone. The only thing is - I don't know why. And my past experience with the hero is that issues you think are dealt with, sneak back in when you least expect it. I was experiencing issues even after I wiped my phone, then installed the official Sprint Rom (replacing the leak). Then I hard shut the phone down and was going to hard reset it again. But first, I swapped batteries. Then did a hard reset. Does anyone know if taking the battery out could have had any effect at all? I don't want to start an old wives tale about the phone if there's really no technical reason this should have done anything.
Whatever the case, I've re-installed all the apps I was using before. I've run every single program I could to see if there were any that would crash - and so far nothing has. I had WiFi and mobile network turned out, my bluetooth connected and was using Google Maps without any problems. I have yet to experience the landscape keyboard lag that everyone else is talking about. The phone can still be a bit sluggish here and there - it seems especially when I have my bluetooth headset connected, the phone can take a couple of seconds to make a call when I push on an picture in the "people" widget. But honestly - that seems to be the only complaint I have and I've been pushing the phone really hard trying to replicate old problems or find new ones.
