it turned my hero blue the paint has transfered on the phone. i always have the case on so u cant see it but if u take it off its ugly.anyone know where i can order a new battery cover?

View 14 Replies View RelatedNever had a phone that was worth buying a case for. I have a hard shell case on my iPod and it's done a good job keeping the thing from getting beaten up (despite my repeatedly dropping it).
Is one better than the other (hard case vs. rubber)? Also, will putting a case on the phone stop you from being able to slip it into that multimedia station?
I've seen several nice leather flip cases with belt clips for the T-Mobile My Touch 3G phone. Do any of them fit the Sprint Hero?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI havent received ANY texts for the past two days. I've uninstalled the latest apps I've installed (Task Killer & Texas Hold Em). I didnt have many installed to begin with and still had 86mb free before uninstalling them. i've restarted and pulled the battery over and over. still nothing. my phone is rooted with Fresh 1.1 and I have the Gumbo kernel. NOW... i'm thinking about trying a hard reset to try and fix this SMS issue. can i backup my phone to where i dont have to do the manual rooting all over again? that kitchen didnt work for me and i really dont feel like running thru all that code again. what all does a backup actually back up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was having a bunch of issues with crashes, lag, bluetooth, and 100% awake time. And now they're gone. The only thing is - I don't know why. And my past experience with the hero is that issues you think are dealt with, sneak back in when you least expect it. I was experiencing issues even after I wiped my phone, then installed the official Sprint Rom (replacing the leak). Then I hard shut the phone down and was going to hard reset it again. But first, I swapped batteries. Then did a hard reset. Does anyone know if taking the battery out could have had any effect at all? I don't want to start an old wives tale about the phone if there's really no technical reason this should have done anything.
Whatever the case, I've re-installed all the apps I was using before. I've run every single program I could to see if there were any that would crash - and so far nothing has. I had WiFi and mobile network turned out, my bluetooth connected and was using Google Maps without any problems. I have yet to experience the landscape keyboard lag that everyone else is talking about. The phone can still be a bit sluggish here and there - it seems especially when I have my bluetooth headset connected, the phone can take a couple of seconds to make a call when I push on an picture in the "people" widget. But honestly - that seems to be the only complaint I have and I've been pushing the phone really hard trying to replicate old problems or find new ones.
So I need to hard reset my phone don't want to lose anything. And are the settings saved or no.

Is there a way or an app that shuts off the lights to the hardbuttons/trackball?
This is especially necessary in the day time when i can see the buttons, i don't need them illuminated.
When I owned a palm, there was a program call KBlights... shut of the keyboard, hardbutton lights.
How to add ringtones that I created and have on my laptop's hard drive.

Ringtones: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications

However, I cannot find the media folder. Or maybe I have not even gotten to the sd card! I was able to add wallpapers and actually use them, so I did something right along the way.

What's with the trackball and hard buttons singular brightness level? When my screen is completely dim because there is little to no ambient light, the last thing I want is the trackball blinding me like high beams from oncoming traffic. Does this irritate anyone else like it irritated me?

I drowned my Sprint Hero in Diesel fuel last week, & before I return it to Asurion / Sprint I'd like to erase all of my personal data from the phone. The trackball & keys work most of the time, but I can't seem to click or highlight the "erase everything" button. Touchscreen is totally non functional.
As i said we NEED otterbox cases for sprint prefable for the Htc evo 4g i hate my crappy bulky case that i bought for 40$usd at best buy. anyone know of a case with a extended batters in the case like for the iphone? or a thin case thats thick up top to protect the lens and show the htc symbol.

The case below came with my Sprint HTC Mogul 3 years ago and it's the best case I've ever had, i used it with the Mogul, Diamond, Touch Pro, and now with my Touch Pro2. The TP2 is stretching it already so I know I'm going to need a new case. Just wondering if there's a case out there that has the following features:
-magnetic enclosure
-no swivel
-horizontal orientation
-small flap (easier to flip open)
-holes at the corner or middle (to easily push the phone out of the case)
Which cases will Best Buy and Sprint stores offer on launch day? Any photos of them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSurfing the web is an overall nightmare on the Hero. Its laggy and the font is all jacked up. Very hard to read unless you zoom way in. Are others having issues with this? I also have an iphone 3GS and there is no comparison in terms of browsing. I have also noticed youtube videos are pretty choppy on the Hero. Is there a fix for this?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have been able to mount my phone (HTC Hero) as a hard drive using windows xp, but I started using Ubuntu 10.04 and when I plug in my phone it mounts for a few seconds and then either unmounts for good or unmounts and tries to remount right away. Here is some output from /var/log/messages:

I bought the HTC Hero recently, and I got this problem ever since. When I speak with someone on the phone, his or her voice is barely hearable. Literally, I have to ask the person on the other side to repeat her or himself 2-3 times before I'm actually able to hear her/him. So, long story short: the volume is abnormally low. What I've tried: volume control apps. They're all set at maximum volume. Hard-reset.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI did not register my googlemail account on my Hero when I initially set it up but want to do so now. I get the old 'sim card may not be provisioned for data services' error message and have read up that I will have to do a hard reset.
This will wipe out my texts so I want to know is there a way to back them up? I am aware there are utilities in the android marketplace for this purpose but as I cannot sign in to my googlemail account via my phone, I cannot make use of them.
I'm about 98% sure I've changed what color my LED light (the one that comes on when you're charging) was for notifications. But now I can't find an option or setting anywhere to do it... did they remove this feature with the 2.2 update or something?it may have been a setting that was in handcent but i'm not sure

View 1 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

View 11 Replies View Relatedjust picked up my EVO earlier this morning. Let it charge for a while before turning it on. I have a very thin rainbow colored line running vertically down the screen. Has anyone else had this problem? I had best buy install the invisible shield when I picked up the phone, so I wanted to wait a little while before taking the phone back. I'm hoping this works itself out, but I am thinking that this is going to be a display issue and I am going to need a new unit.

One of the features in my application uses the normal way of the Android SDK to display a LED notification with a selectable color. The color can be set by ledARGB flag in http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/Notification.html. This had been working with the emulator, the HTC G1 and the HTC Magic (myTouch) but now users starting to report that the HTC Hero does not show up different colors. (although the charging LED for the HTC Hero is orange and the normal notification color is green). The same thing occurs for setting a vibrate pattern. (flag -> vibrate in http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/Notification.html) This does not work on the HTC Hero US. (it does work on the EU/GSM version of the Hero).....
