General :: Customize Contact Shortcut Popup Application Order V2.3
Jan 1, 2012
I'm using Android 2.3 with LauncherPro as launcher. I've added a shortcut to a contact on my desktop (longpress -> shortcut -> contacts then choosen a contact). When I click on the shortcut I got a popup with a list of application that can be used. Dial, Message, Mail and so on. Is there to customize this list (change the order of applications) ?

Coming from Nexus One to Droid X and want to put contact shortcuts on one of my homescreens that when tapped will let me choose from phone, messages, gmail, view contact and google talk. It was an easy option on my NO as well as my wifes Milestone. Cant figure it out on the X or her Droid 2.

I'm using AWD launcher now, but I would like to use the "contact list app" from Helix. I can't find the shortcut, anyone knows where it is? Also I noticed once that the xperia x10 as another player besides the "mediascape", but again, I can't find it anymore, so frustrating.

Recently switched from iPhone to Galaxy S3.
On the iPhone, there was an option to select different text notification sounds for different contacts. Bob has sound A, Carol has sound B, etc. I haven't found that option in the S3. Do I need to create Groups and then assign the Group a specific sound for text messages? With over 1200 contacts, I would like to choose one text sound for friends, another for clients, etc.

I always had windows mobile devices in the past, and like you must know, the old good windows mobile no longer exist... Microsoft killed it.
So I switched to Android. I really like android, The way it works is pretty the same than windows mobile with file browser, files system(Not like the Iphone without any way to deal with a file at all), .APK install like the .CAB on WM...
One think that I loved on WM is how easy it was to make shortcut by yourself, even with parameters. As example, it was easy to create a shortcut to Coreplayer to play an HTTP stream when simply clicking on it.
Like: "coreplayer.exe my_teststreamDOTcom : portNumber"

Is there a way to create custom popup window like 'Quick Contact' or the one in official Twitter application (image attached) ? I've read the Contact app source code (downloaded from git) but still confused, it seems to use internal api.

I'll try to make the Question CLEAR/SHORT/Strait forward...
Is there a file within the rooted Android system that can be edited to change the order of the application while booting up the device?
For example:
After you Flash the ROM, if you have installed Application "A" the Application "B" ..."C"...etc.
When the device is booting, some times you find that Application "C" is loaded before Application "A".
What i need is:
Application "A" to be always loaded FIRST then "C" then "B .......etc...
I tried to check "init.rc" and some others without success...

I'm a tech in a sprint store, I have a customer who has a hero and it takes like 3-4 clicks to get to her favorites...that to me just seems dumb and it annoys her. Is there a way to put a shortcut to her favorites? I looked all over but couldn't find anything in the phone.

In the thread where some users where posting their screenshots, I saw what appeared to be contacts as a shortcut on one the main screens. I was just curious how or what program is used to do this. Any help? Here is an example.

I have a Sprint Hero and I'm trying to add a shortcut to call the person I call the most. I found AnyCut, but it's not working. I open the app, hit "Direct Call" and then it simply says "No Matches Found."
How do I select a contact? Am I doing something wrong?
Are there any other free apps that I can use to create a shortcut (that I can rename and create a custom icon)?

Title pretty much says it all. The contact for my wife has about 8 numbers listed. I want to re-order how they appear -- e.g. move the 5th number to the top position. Other than re-enter all the numbers, is there a way to easily re-oder them?

Since updating to 2.2, when i add a shortcut to someone's contact info by (holding finger on screen>shortcut>contact>John Doe) it does not use the picture. Instead I just get the "shadow outline thingy" for their picture, even though the picture is still there in contacts app.
The only things I've added since doing the update are Facebook and Takephone, but I don't think either of those are the culprit since they are showing their pictures just fine...

In the Android Mail application, when you click the checkbox next to an inbox message, a little bar with buttons (mark unread, delete, star) appears at the bottom of the screen. I'd like to do something similar, but I don't think I'm going about it the right way. What I've done is add a LinearLayout below my ListView and marked the visibility GONE. When a user clicks a checkbox next to a list item, the LinearLayout's visibility is marked VISIBLE. Unfortunately, checkboxes stop working. By this I mean the skin on the checkbox does not change from unchecked to checked; and I can't figure out why. (...or rather, this is the way I HAD it. I removed it once I couldn't fix it and, since trying to add it again, it just crashes, but I digress)

I tried the apps "Handcent" and "Sms Popup" and set them to automatically display a popup on the lock screen when there is a new sms (similiar to the iPhone). Both apps, however, only display the popup after the lock screen.I guess this has something to do with this "great" touchwiz overlay Samsung is using. Any way to fix this?

I just installed the "SMS Popup" application on my (UK) T-Mobile HTC Hero (which has the latest UK T-Mobile official Android ROM installed - Oct 2009), and the app works great, but doesn't display the senders contact photo when an SMS popup arrives? Most demos of the app I've seen running seem to show the users contact photo popping up when a text arrives. Anyone else had this problem, or am I missing an obvious setting etc?

While playing with my phone the other day I realised a way of adding application shortcuts a faster way to the home screen then holding a blank space, choosing shortcuts, applications then selecting. Open your apps list and just tap and hold an app, it then pops to the homescreen so you can add the shortcut. Found this much quicker than waiting for the apps list to load everytime.

When you click the app drawer it pulls up all the apps installed in abc order. What I want is a shortcut on my desk top to do the same thing. Just an icon on the desktop that once click will open all my apps. Its needs to be a shortcut and not a widget as I'd like to be able to change the icon when i want.(As far as I know you can not change the icon on a widget)

I searched the market and the forum but found nothing like this.I think SMS popup is a great app and would love something similar for email that would pop up a box telling me I got an email, who it was from and the subject line with an option to open or ignore.I plan to email the SMS popup developer but I was wondering if anyone else had come across something like this or if anyone else would be interested?I'm going to link the dev to this thread, so if its something you'd like chime in here so he knows there is interest.

I tried Button Shortcut to remap the search soft key for use with VLingo, and no dice. I got the option to set VLingo as my default on that long press once, and I did, but it just goes to the standard Google Voice search still. No option offered anymore at all. Tried clearing Voice Search "defaults" under application settings and still nothing.

I keep a shortcut to the Calendar on my home screen. With 1.5 I was always annoyed that the shortcut had a 28 (or somesuch) date on it. I really wanted it to be dynamic so the shortcut always had the correct date. On Sunday when I got my 2.1 upgrade, I was so happy to see that the calendar shortcut had the correct date, the 15th. I was bummed to find out that it was a concidence. The correct date was only displayed because it happend to be be the 15th. Today, on the 17th, it still says 15 on my shortcut.
