Does 2.1 get rid of the default notification? Can you choose a different/custom notification sound for the stock email app that isn't the default notification sound?

is there a way to have a seperate notification sound for my email (not gmail), & voicemail, if so how?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI would like a different notification sound for my email than I have for voice mail. I keep reading that each app has a setting that allows one to select a unique sound, but I am not able to find this setting for the stock email app, or the voicemail app. The only options under email settings are:
Email notifications - ON or OFF
Notification sound - ON or OFF
Notification vibrate - ON or OFF
Under Voicemail settings, I see NO choices for notifications.
Right now my phone makes the same sound whether I get a email or a text message. Can I make one have a different sound than the other? If so please tell me in detail how. I only see one notification sound area.

I have been a long time Blackberry user and made the switch to Android just yesterday morning and really love it. I hope someone can help me with this issue.
I have noticed that a couple of times I get the email notification sound but there is no email. A couple of minutes later I receive an email with its own notification sound. Another time, I heard the notification sound AND the new email icon on the top left of the screen but there was no email. Several minutes later, the email was delivered to the handset.
The email accounts that I have set up on the handset are one yahoo with mail plus, and one gmail account. I believe the issues happened with the gmail account.
Is there some download(s) for sound packs?I need some nicer and possibly more annoying sounds for notifications.Also, if i have 2 or more email accounts, can i specify a notification sound for each?

Also, every time I receive and incoming text my phone also vibrates. I've looked under notifications and can't find any way to change this. I'm about to pay the restocking fee and get a new phone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBasically I want to set a different notification sound to each of my different email accounts that I have setup in the mail app (not the gmail one, but the one where you add IMAP accounts) I don't think it's possible since it seems like it should be a function of the mail app and not the system...but there's no place in the mail app to set a sound (that I can find).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just swapped my htc hero last night with another one that had the "with google" logo on the back thinking it would let me get Rev.A but it turns out it was manufactured 9/26/09 and it still says Rev.0. Anyways, the first htc hero I had would instantly notify my of new Gmail email, sometimes even before Gmail inbox on my PC would get it, so it was instantaneous, but this new one has like a minute or 2 delay. Is anyone getting this? what are your delays like? Did I just swap my phone for a defective one? Someone please comment.

I am coming from a Pre, which had a very nice notification system. The new email notification would show the sender, subject, and number of new emails. You could then click to either go to the mailbox, or directly to the latest new email shown at your discretion.
I have set up both GMail through the GMail app, and an Exchange server through the Mail app, but the only notification I get is "New email" without specifics. Also, clicking won't bring me directly to the new email, but to the Inbox.
I have just updated my phone to 2.1. Also I have two email accounts. One Gmail and one dslextreme account. It used to be that when I got email from one or both accounts I would get a little envelope in my notification bar. Dragging that down it would show me the email in the Gmail account and the dslextreme account. But now I have a third notification with the google M in it. If I click it it opens a "conversation" window with the email. I can respond to it and it works just fine. But if I click on the Gmail email I get the usual looking email format. Now the interesting thing is if I ignore the google M and go straight to the google email and deal with the email from there the google M conversation disappears. Thank you for bearing with me through that lengthly explanation but here is my question. How do I turn off this google M conversation? I don't want that third notification nor do I want that style of email delivered. I want to go back to the standard type of email delivery. It's coming to my phone alright but I don't want dual notifications. I remember when I was setting up this new OS that a box came up and I checked this google M not understanding what it was but I have looked through all my settings and can't figure out how to shut it off.

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?

View 13 Replies View RelatedOK I've been running the nightlys and they have been running fine except for the small issue that the native email app included in the ROM(s) never works. I'm trying to use my yahoo email account and when I open the app enter in my email and password I first get a prompt with: "Attention! Mailbox access is not supported for some types of Yahoo! mail accounts etc..."
Then I press OK and then get the initializing screen for "checking incoming server settings" then get a Could not finish prompt error stating that my user name or password is incorrect (which I know is correct and have tried numberous times)
I'm stuck using the lame Yahoo Mail app from the market at the moment, does anyone have a fix for this? Am I the only one experiencing it?
After rooting my Hero the night it came out, I noticed that I'm having connectivity issues. Weather won't update, can't check email, can't access facebook, etc. How to put my phone back to normal?

View 4 Replies View Related1. No sound notification. When I am texting someone back and forth, I have to back out of the thread or I do not get notified that they have responded. If I leave it open, I sit there forever thinking the person didn't respond only to wake up my phone and see that they actually did.... 10 minutes ago. Anyone else have this issue?
2. When I turn my phone on in the morning, I never get notified of new email. I have to open my mail and click refresh. I have tried letting it go thinking it would notify me at the update interval I have set, and that never happened. I went almost 2 hours until I had a new email notification, and that was because I sent something to myself to test it.
As the tile suggests, is it possible to set a different notifiaction sound for E-Mail & SMS? I cannot find this option anywhere.
