Coming from Nexus One to Droid X and want to put contact shortcuts on one of my homescreens that when tapped will let me choose from phone, messages, gmail, view contact and google talk. It was an easy option on my NO as well as my wifes Milestone. Cant figure it out on the X or her Droid 2.

Is anybody else having a problem with google talk and receiving a "[somebody] did not receive your chat" message whenever you try to IM somebody? It happens both on my Droid and in the chat client in gmail. The reason I'm asking here is that it only seems to be affecting my buddy and me and we both have Droids. Our friends who don't have droids can talk to one-another, but any message to or from us have issues. Could be coincidence but I thought I'd ask.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Android 2.3 with LauncherPro as launcher. I've added a shortcut to a contact on my desktop (longpress -> shortcut -> contacts then choosen a contact). When I click on the shortcut I got a popup with a list of application that can be used. Dial, Message, Mail and so on. Is there to customize this list (change the order of applications) ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been running the official OTA HTC FroYo update for a few weeks now and haven't really had any problems. However, today I noticed that the Google Talk shortcut when tapping a contact's photo has disappeared and has been replaced with another Phone icon. When clicking this icon I am prompted to choose from a list of completely unrelated applications to complete the action with? Google Talk is NOT listed on this screen. This icon only shows up on contacts who are online on Google Talk, so I assume that the 2.2 update has somehow broken the Talk shortcut in the phonebook?

I clicked some of activities listed, and most would do nothing/just open normally, apart from when I chose "People" and came across a dialer screen that I've never seen before:
It's listed under "People com.android.htcdialer" and looks quite nice but I haven't figured out a way to access it apart from navigating through the Google Talk error! Has anyone else seen this screen?
I just got the OTA Froyo update for my HTC Incredible on Verizon. Now when i go in to the People application and touch the icon next to a person's name, the menu comes up with two "phones" on it, one to make a call, and one where gtalk used to be. When i touch the second phone, it brings up a list of crazy apps to associate it with. Most of the apps to associate are not actually anything.
Has anyone esle experienced this? I'm not rooted (yet) and to be honest im growing tired of the junky HTC apps on this thing. I'd love to just have the android contacts manager because i think it'll interface better than the htc ones.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince updating to 2.2, when i add a shortcut to someone's contact info by (holding finger on screen>shortcut>contact>John Doe) it does not use the picture. Instead I just get the "shadow outline thingy" for their picture, even though the picture is still there in contacts app.
The only things I've added since doing the update are Facebook and Takephone, but I don't think either of those are the culprit since they are showing their pictures just fine...
Is there a way to send SMS through google talk like in my regular Gmail account.

I open to read it and its a reply from the conversation that I was having on my PC via the Droids Google talk. So I reply back via the Google talk on the PC and dag gone it, if his response didnt come back on the Droid. What the heck is that all about?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, not much of a Google Talk user, but now and then. And, I mostly use it via my desktop gMail app.. not on my phone.
Anyway, I close out the Talk app, but no matter what, even if it is closed, killed, off, it activates itself when someone sends me a chat.. even if I am logged on via my gMail account.
How the heck can you shut it off? What is it that makes it start up because someone wants to chat. I see no way to stop it and I am not always in the mood or able to chat and do not want to be disturbed but this Google Talk seems to start up and alert you anyway.
Both listed under applications->running services as always running. I don't need/use either so how do I get rid of them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHi everyone, I recently flashed sapphire 1.0.0, frozen yogurt, bugless beast 0.4 with clockwork mod recovery V 2.0.1.3, and had success with all roms above, except for the fact that in sapphire, i'm greeted by the droid setup tutorial, which is completely non-responsive, (I remove the setupwizard.apk from the Gapps .zip which causes it to set up without a hitch), and in all of the mentioned roms, when I attempt to use gmail, gtalk, or the market they all crash on startup. In the market I see a hint of the EULA before im booted back to the home screen. I'm coming from 2.2 build number "voles-userdebug 2.2 FRFxx 49593 test-keys".
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen adding new contacts to the droid x, it added it as both a goggle contact and phone contact. (i only have one goggle account setup). I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

When I add my google apps I don't even have Calendar as an option. Is this missing from the Droid X or is it a 2.1 thing?
When I try to access my Calendar app, it tells me that I have not set up a calendar to sync. After going to the accounts page, and going to my google account, there are only options to sync my gmail and sync my contacts, but not my calendars.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy "internal" memory is almost filled up and i am trying to find a way to move apps such as games to "external" memory. Some apps i have tried failed because all they did was direct link to the "move to sd" option in settings which is obviously not available on my tablet.
I have rooted the device, i have titanium backup (which failed as well in moving them). It came with the 4.2.2 android.

Before I updated the leaked 2.1 v3, I used to have an app called Google Talk that would allow me to chat with google contacts. Now, I can't seem to find it anywhere both on the phone or online? The closest I could find is google services which goes through the Dolphin browser - clumsy in my opinion.
