I have the Everything Data Family 1500 Share Plan.Just check my data usage today. What is this Roaming Data Charge?I was in USA and in the states all the time.Anyway to avoid this in the future? There's no charges now, but it could get worst.

I live in a t-mobile edge zone so I want to know about the voice quality & reliability cause I'm planning on getting a nexus with a t-mobile data only plan. Will it be like a regular phone call or will I have poor quality?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have successfully been getting GPS data through the registerLocationListener() and onLocationChanged() methods. The only problem with this is that the speed reading of my app freezes if there is no more GPS data (e.g. when I go indoors, enter a tunnel, etc). The behavior I want for my app is that the user is somehow notified that the speed reading is probably not accurate due to a lack of fresh data (set speed to zero, blink the speed reading, etc). How can I do that? I though of checking periodically whether the GPS unit was detecting any satellites, but I'm not sure how to force periodic checks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a PreferenceActivity with a PreferenceScreen defined in a xml file. i want to make sure that the data set on a preference editor are valid (integer , integer in a range....)
So , i want to be able to intercept a click on a button of the EditTextPreference , check the validity of the data and if the data is incorect , display a message to the user and come back on the EditTextPreference.
What would be the best way to achieve that?
Where can I check for the Dir/ files/ data created in Internal Memory/SDCard ?

I've already created a database for users using SQLite. The database name is Users and the table is called User. The records inside the table are Username, Password, LastName, FirstName. I've inserted one user's info into the database. The problem is I do not know whether my UserDB.java is correct.
And I've also created login.java. Hardcoded Login page:

So I want to know how I should apply the database connection on the login.java. Should I insert database connection something like db.Open();? I studied ASP.Net a few months back and I kind of forget most of what I've learnt.
So how should I open the database connection on login.java and how to check with database whether the user enters the right username and password?
Just incase you need my xml, here's the code:

I need to learn how to do it so that I can apply for other pages for example Register.java page.

I'm trying to allow a user to stay logged in to an application. What is the best way to do this? Can anybody point me to a tutorial? I've searched the web and can't seem to find anything.
I went into Weather Bug (free version) to check the weather and accidentally hit the menu button. Decide to check preferences for the heck of it and I see "Enable Updates' set to yes and Update Interval set to every 1 hour. What?? I know it's probably not a huge drain - but I had no idea that it was checking on a regular basis (and why I don't know). So please check your apps to make sure they are not updating data auotmatically! After that I went into every app I had to make sure I was either signed out or or set updates to manual.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHad my Hero for a few weeks now and overall loving it. Its Orange branded and updated to the latest ROM. Lately I've started to face this problem where Facebook (from Social Networks), keeps getting logged out every other second or so. Most of the times it just won't log-in with a 'Service not available, try again' sort of message. Also if I try to log in from the Contact, it behaves the same way.On the other hand, the Facebook widget and app are connected and working fine. This is really upsetting since I have many contacts on Facebook and having their pictures showing in the Contacts was a pretty handy feature for me.I've already reset it once, but to no avail. My Twitter and Flickr accounts remained signed in, whereas Facebook just doesn't. I've also tried signing in on an alternative Facebook account to isolate the issue, but the result was the same.Would love to hear from folks facing the same thing and what they did to resolve it. I've also put in a message with HTC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else experienced an issue I've complained numerous times about yet can't get resolution: When users upgrade our My Coupons app, apparently there is a service left unclosed. Fine. The issue being, the old service code interferes with the new code and users uninstall then reinstall immediately in attempt to resolve. Google registers the uninstalls, but not the reinstalls.
I repeat, the market registers the uninstalls, but prompt reinstallations DO NOT get registered!
I can verify this occurs as each time the app is first run it notifies our servers, and we've got record of each install. This record vastly differs from the statistics google is reporting. These records are verifiably unique users.
I have logged on to HTC Sense on line & now cant do it thru the phone, does the phone & pc need to be connected for this? Also when I go to HTC Sense on the phone it just says it syncing. But so far the two have not synced. What am I doing wrong?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMenu - Settings - Location - Enable GPS satellites
It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"
When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"
So, the question is, should this be enabled?
I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.
I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.
So, to check or not to check?
I'm making an Android Java app game (although this question applies to all languages really) and hope to release the first version soon. I'm nervous about how I save data in my game. My problem is that, if in a later update, I decide to store more data or store the same data in a different way, I need to be careful I don't lose or corrupt data for users that upgrade (i.e. I want users to be able to use data created by an old version in the new version, like their high scores from before). For example, say I want to save high scores in version 1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow I'm able to do what I've written in the topic. I've looked through many tutorials on AsyncTask but I can't get it to work. I have a little form (EditText) that will take what the user inputs there and make it to a url query for the application to lookup and then display the results.
What I think would seem to work is something like this: In my main activity i have a string called responseBody. Then the user clicks on the search button it will go to my search function and from there call the GrabUrl method with the url which will start the asyncdata and when that process is finished the onPostExecute method will use the function activity.this.setResponseBody(content).
This is what my code looks like simpliefied with the most important parts (I think).

For my CS bachelors I am doing a Senior project using android and google maps.My vision was to do a (relatively) simple Dijkstra shortest path using google maps road data. I was going to add elevation change along with 2D distance. I am doing well playing with maps in android but I am completely stumped trying to access google maps data in any sort of searchable form. How would I go about accessing the data for say intersections of roads (lat/long) in a particular area? There has to be a way to pull that data in some sort of tree form. It seems like it may be possible with kml?Any pointers would be awesome.I want my paths to follow roads but If i cant this is going to turn into an orienteering application fairly fast.
