Android :: Upgrading Apps Causing Market Ranking Drop Due To Uninstall And Prompt Reinstall Not Getting Logged

Dec 22, 2009

Has anyone else experienced an issue I've complained numerous times about yet can't get resolution: When users upgrade our My Coupons app, apparently there is a service left unclosed. Fine. The issue being, the old service code interferes with the new code and users uninstall then reinstall immediately in attempt to resolve. Google registers the uninstalls, but not the reinstalls.

I repeat, the market registers the uninstalls, but prompt reinstallations DO NOT get registered!

I can verify this occurs as each time the app is first run it notifies our servers, and we've got record of each install. This record vastly differs from the statistics google is reporting. These records are verifiably unique users.

Android :: Market Apps Ranking Rules

Mar 10, 2010

I have the same issue in the casual category.I'm assuming it has to do with the percentage of current installs.Since I'm sitting at 23% of total downloaded. But its growing at least.I was down to 15 about a month ago.

General :: Reinstall Apps Again From Android Market To Galaxy Y After Factory Reset

Feb 27, 2012

I have installed some apps from Android Market to my Galaxy y. I needed to reset the factory settings and all the apps in the phone was erased. I only wanted to delete the email account. I tried to go to Android Market to reinstall. But it won't get in my phone anymore even when I click on install. There is a button that says installed. I checked on "manage account" setting and none of the applications are there. From Android market, when I click on "My Library" I see all the apps that I have downloaded before.

Question: Is it not possible to reinstall these free apps again? If so how do I do it?

HTC Desire : Upgrading Market Apps After Root

Recently rooted, and Market says there is updates, but it can't update them. The apps were included as part of leedroid 2.2f. I've read that I can use Titanium to uninstall the app (e.g. maps) then install again from the market. Is this correct, don't want to upset anything.

HTC Incredible :: What's Causing Reboots / Can't Exactly Uninstall 1 App At A Time

Sep 10, 2010

I was using Cyanogen 6.0.2 but it was rebooting randomly so I switched to Ruby 1.1.1. Instead of letting everything come in from my backups on Google's servers, I only restored a small number of apps and have been running it today with minimal applications running. Lo and behold, I just got my first random reboot. It must be some application that I'm running, but since I can't trigger it I can't exactly uninstall 1 app at a time.

I'm very comfortable in the command line (I do it in my job); is there a log somewhere I can read that would list what's happening? I'm not running any special kernels, but I'm starting to wonder if the phone's rebooting due to a kernel panic. Is there a log I can view this kind of information somewhere?

Android :: Redirect To Market Is Causing A 404 Error

For one of my clients they want to redirect customers who are viewing their mobile site from their android to the android market. The url is something like , which when clicked on as a link functions correctly but if done as a redirect via php header('location :'); will resolve to 404 page not found.

From a pc the link will never resolved, it will only work from an Android phone and only when the link is clicked on via an a href.

a href='' - Works when clicked

Android :: Users Have Trouble Upgrading My App In Market

Oct 12, 2009

I've had more than one user say they have trouble when they "upgrade" new versions of my app in Android Market. One woman says it takes her several "days" to successfully do it (I presume that means multiple attempts spread out over time). Can this be on my end? I upgrade my database on each rev - basically I retreive the user data and stick it in the new database that ships with my app. But I think the complaint is about something different. Has anyone else received comments about anything similar? I am concerned people uninstall my app just because of this issue,

HTC Eris :: CacheMate Causing Market Problems

Aug 21, 2010

I'm just full of issue's lately. Oh well, did a quick search and nothing seemed to come up so here we go. I downloaded cachemate tonight to have a one click cache cleaning tool. So I get it on my phone, run it real quick and no problem. Then when I try to get into the market it won't open. Everything else appears to function as normal, but the market hangs up on the loading screen. I think something with clearing the cache on the market may have messed up. Any thoughts? Or will I be installing a new rom tomorrow afternoon?

Android : How To Reinstall Apps After ROM Flash?

Aug 25, 2010

After months of cursing my phone (MyTouch3g, old one, "B" type), I decided to try a new firmware/ROM as one last chance before I threw it in a river. I have never done this before so I had to learn it all from scratch, I think I did it right...anyway I am now running CyanogenMod 5.0.8 Firmware 2.1 (p.s. I feel like i could take a final exam in computer science now...). All is good, it is fast, pretty and has a few bells and whistles my old OEM rom didn't. But, I don't have ANY APPS. Only camera, gallery, browser, messaging, contacts and dialer. Obviously Cyanogen can not include Google proprietary apps in its package. I did install something that allowed me to sign into my Gmail account ( so now I get new email notifications, and my contacts list is populated with my google contacts, but I have no "gmail" icon anywhere.

Android :: Stop Background Apps From Causing GC And Eating Up CPU

Nov 17, 2010

In looking at some performance issues for a game I'm developing I came across some interesting facts. Although I've minimised GC caused by my app, other apps can still cause one. Also, during framerate drops in my game, I've noticed things like the weather service, email checked, etc. going nuts in the background. (This is on Android 1.6).

I don't really want to block incoming calls, i.e. go into flight mode, before the game starts. I think it's important for the game to be interrupted if there's an incoming call. However, while playing, I don't think people care about weather updates, email updates, texts, etc.

Is there an interface that will let me control what is "active" in the background and what should be "suspended"?

Android :: Market Keep Telling Me Of Update When I Uninstall App / Stop It?

Jun 20, 2010

Recently there was an updated version of Android Terminal Emulator by Jack Palevich, the free one from Market. But I was unable to install it as it always prompt me "Insufficient Memory". I've more than 100MB free internal memory (using App2sd) and over 5GB free on my SDcard. But it just refuse to let me install. So I tried downloading the apk too and install it using a root manager, but the installation also failed.

So I decided to give up on the app and remove the app. But yet Market still prompts me for an update (and my phone refuse to let me install it). I done a search on "jack" using my root manager to delete all files related with the app and even clear up all apps cache... but still Market prompts me!

What should I do to either:

1. Get this app to install successfully
2. Remove this app "cleanly"
3. Stop Market from showing me an "Update" for this app when it's already not in my phone?

Phone: Moto Milestone
Firmware: 2.1-update1

I've decided I'm going to reset to factory and just back up texts and contacts, I'll just reinstall the apps afterwards - probably don't need half of them anyway.. Question is they are all installed on my SD card now, will factory reset get rid of them from the mem card? I want them all gone and to start again...I'd hate to think they were wasting space on my SD card....otherwise I'll have move them back before reset..

I rooted a few weeks ago, am running xtrsense 3.0.1 and apps2sd. Certain apps that i had installed prior to root were not working after root. I tried to uninstall these and reinstall. Whenever I tried the reinstall, there is an error stating insufficient storage available. Checking the SD card, it says 140 MB available. I seem to be able to install new apps, but not reinstall previously installed. The specific apps this has happened with are Better Keyboard, shazam and handcent. Any suggestions?
