so Google Talk has different bubble statuses that you can give yourself. Green for available, red for busy, etc but there's a blue bubble that is displayed.I read online that this means you have been "Idle" for 10 minutes but how does this work on the Android phone? If someone is always signed in, why does this bubble pop up?

Ok, I tried looking around for an answer but can't seem to find one. Anyone know what it means when there's a blue status bubble on the google talk application? Does this mean that the person is chatting? I'm confused and you people is smart
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm interested in creating an Android application that will set the user's Google Talk custom status message to something created by my application.Since a user running Android (at least on the G1 w/ T-Mobile) is always signed in to their Google Account, is there a way to leverage that and not require the user enter credentials into my application? If not, is there an easy-to-use XMPP interface available or am I stuck with writing a XMPP client from scratch? Alternatively, does the Google Talk application running on Android phones support any intents that I could use to tell it to change the user's status? While researching this issue I have come across a number of pages that reference what appears to be a deprecated com.google.android.xmppservice and com.google.android.gtalkservice. Is there a replacement for either of those or were they removed without replacement?

I was having problems with the play store and I was told to clear data from the Play Sore and GoogleServicesFramework app. That didn't work and I got a server error. Also my signal bars and wifi/3G icon are not turning blue as usual when connected. I feel disconnected from the play store .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the green 'online' status indicator in Talk doesn't update on my phone when someone signs off, it stays green for them. They show as offline on my PC but continue to show online on the Droid. If I sign out and back in to Talk on the phone it will update their status, but otherwise not. I've tried closing chat but that doesn't seem to work, I don't see anything in settings that would affect it either. Any ideas?
I'm the only one using Android, my other contacts are all using Talk online (not with a phone) if that makes a difference.
Google Search, the blue icon app, is on my phone. I assume this came with Froyo. Why doesn't the market show it as installed when I go to its market page?

I'd like to be able to use Google Talk on my Hero and his BB in lieu of SMS for chatting with him while at work, so that I can turn my phone on Airplane mode with only wifi on to save my battery (signal is terrible in my office)My concern is that I'm not sure if Google Talk is always connected like his BBM seems to be. Anyone have any insight on this? I see that "Automatically Log In" is an option....but say for instance we don't chat for a few days and he decides to send me a message. Will it be pushed to my phone?

I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.

I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. This is something that I just can't get by because I need to start using G Talk now.

I added a few of my family members to my chat as SMS (just their phone numbers), and I can chat with them via chat for me, and SMS for them in any browser. Is it possible to send SMS via Google Talk on Android? I assume it's possible because it's possible on a PC, but why hasn't Google added the support? I guess the carriers wouldn't like it much, but that shouldn't stop Google.

Whenever I click the icon, it shows a black screen for about 1/10 of a second, then goes right back to the home screen. I tried force stopping the app, clearing the cache and the data and restarting my phone and checked to see if there was something wrong with my data connection, but nothing worked.

Google Talk failed to login. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that chat is enabled for this account. I have logged into my domain Dashboard and Chat is on for my domain, Chat works in Gmail just fine. Everything else on my phone seems to be working, just not Google Talk. I just got the phone, I'm in Tucson with T-Mobile service and I've tried both over WIFI and over Edge/3G.

I did a factory re-set to cure my Internet sharing problem (it worked) but now I cannot find the little blue triangle Google navigate icon anywhere. The first thing i found was the XMPP protocol, however it's not real P2P, but if i can use the existing google talk service, i'm ready to go. Is this possible while using your existing google account without interfering with the normal working of your google talk client?
Then i heard about JXTA, a real P2P solution, and it's already ported from J2ME to Android (http://code.google.com/p/peerdroid/).
Maybe i am overcomplexing things here (as i do sometimes)
