I go to plug my phone into my computer and mount it and then I get a message on my computer asking do I want to scan the driver, When I click yes it does nothing, and then When I go to my computer to click my Hero Vista wont let me it says please insert a disk. If I click Continue without scanning I am able to get into the Hero. Whats going on here?

Anyone had any issues with their magic and vista?
Whenever I connect mine it and mount the SD card I get an error: PLease insert a disc into the drive.
Any ideas if this is a faulty card / device or incompatability issue?
The driver works - but after a few sessions it's in la la land.
For example i can't download apps via eclipse and also cannot mount - if mounted cannot access drive. reboot and works for a few sessions - and same again. i've got rev3.
No matter how many times I reinstall the device drivers, they all install correctly besides the Android ADB Device driver.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI ran into the first problem with my Droid- and I am sure it is not the Droid itself. I am running Vista32- I have Motorola Media Link installed. When I plug my Droid into the PC, I get a mass storage device that installs OK most of the time, and an "unknown device".. Even when I mount the SD from the phone, I still see no Drive in my computer The unknown device never installs. I have tried almost every suggestion i have seen.. reboot pc..reinstall MML, reboot phone.. no luck
View 6 Replies View RelatedUntil now, have been using Android SDKs Emulator with the Eclipse plug-in, but recently replaced my non-Android phone to T-Mobile's MyTouch 3G Slide. Today, tried to install the Windows Android USB Driver for the phone. Followed instructions in http://d.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html (USB Driver for Windows Android Developers).
When looking for the driver, Windows gave me a "Could Not Find Driver Software" message. When telling Windows where to search, I pointed it to the SDK directory where the driver resides (¦Android-SDK-windows/ usb_driver). Also tried ¦Android-SDK-windows. Specified use sub- folders" in both tries. I am using Vista 64 bit, and suspect that may be the cause.
The "could not find.." message box from Windows has this information under Details:

In the sdk's "usb_driver" directory, the "android_winusb.inf" file has several VID's beginning with 0BB..., but does not have one for the one listed above. Nor is there a [ ... ]header entry for the MyTouch 3G Slide (Expresso?)
I suspect this is the reason for the "Driver not found"
Am using the 32 bit version of "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers" downloaded last April. (At that time there were a lot of forum warnings about not using the 64 bit version.)
Today, before trying to install the driver, I uninstalled the Android plug-in from Eclipse and then uninstalled the Android SDK I had installed in April which was at the 2.1 level. I reinstalled the SDK at the 2.2 level taking "all items". Then reinstalled the Eclipse plug- in.
In the "Android SDK and AVD Manager" checked for any updates. There were none (I'd just re-installed, so that makes sense)

These two threads from 2009 have entries that say the 64 bit driver is in the SDK I cant find it. Could be looking the wrong place though.

When that did not make any difference, added: %SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0FFF which was also part of a post. Made no difference
The .INF has a [ClassInstall32], entry, but there is no [ClassInstall64] entry. I do not know enough about INFs to know if that is needed or not.
Is there an app. where you can use the camera of your Hero to scan any texts and convert it to a word document where you can copy and paste the text? Does such app. exist? Scan2PDF scans stuffs into PDF but it doesn't allow you to copy and paste texts.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if it's possible to pull out everything related to bluetooth and A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth Audio) from 1.5 and insert it into damages 2.1 ROM. I have tried every 2.1 ROM and I can't seem to get reliable bluetooth audio through my headphones, it skips and cuts out. It is very frustrating. I have tried several headset to no avail, it always work flawless in 1.5. I just got done running a logcat as well, and everytime it would skip or cutout nothing showed in the logcat, it was very strange!

If I hard-reset my phone, the compass will work flawlessly for about 3-5 days. After that it fails to function. It stays locked in one position and if it does move it is VERY sparatic.
This has been tested with multiple compass apps as well as any of the "augmented" reality apps (sky maps, Layer, etc)
This has happened with both COMPLETELY factory un-rooted phone as well as now that I'm rooted running Madoco Unofficial 1.2c.
If I do a hard reset it works fine. Its not any particular app doing it either. I've tested that theory.
It doesn't do anything, I have the phone turned on, the sync software running and I plug the USB cable in, a "found new hardware" screen pops up, I click Locate and install drivers but it can't find any!

Today due to problems I have rested the phone to factory default AND installed a clean version of window vista home premium 32bit edition. I connected the htc to windows and nothing happened!! No notifications or anything, so i downloaded the latest HTC Sync and installed it, connected the phone and nothing happened. I want to get photos off the phone but can't at the moment.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm getting frustrated trying to get my Hero to connect with my PC, I've installed HTC Sync 2.0.4 on my PC but when I plug my Hero in via USB first I get this message. so i select locate and install driver software and then i get this message and then it's all over, I've downloaded what i think are the latest drivers and used device manager to manually select where to find the drivers and i still get the same message, it'll be a shame if i cant get it to sync because i like the phone but without it being able to sync it's just a paper weight, hope you guys can help me get it sorted

View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tried using HTC Sync to synchronise Outlook Calendar and Contacts with the Hero on Vista (Ultimate)? I have had great problems getting the phone and PC/Laptop to recognise each other, despite turning off Firewall and Antivirus and allowing HTC Sync to run as Administrator. I have only got it to work once on my Laptop, despite uninstalling and reinstalling, and I only got it to work a second time on my PC after several reboots. I don't have problems synching other devices (Treo 650 and TomTom) so I don't think it is a hardware problem.
If you use Categories for Calendar entries in Outlook then watch out, as the Hero Calendar does not support them and deletes them all, which resulted (for me) with a lot of duplicate entries in Outlook. One-way syncs (PC -> Hero) might be the only solution if I want to keep Categories. Other than that, the phone is great. I am sure that the inevitable teething problems will be sorted out soon.
After installing HTC Sync from the HTC website (v.2.0.4), and connecting my Hero via USB, my Hero cannot find HTC Sync on PC, although it is installed, and I have restarted my PC. After the "Finding HTC Sync on your PC" message, I get an error message saying: "Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC. Please make sure that HTC Sync is installed and opened on your PC [which it is]".
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero this morning - its my first smartphone and I am very impressed. I saw some fairly damning reviews online, but when I trialled it I was hooked. Superb device A+ so far, except for this little problem which I think is probably linked to my Laptop rather than the Hero... I have plugged it into my Laptop via USB. Vista found the drivers, installed all well and good. However, if I click on Removable Disk (F I get an error stating that there is no disk in the drive and please insert one. I've tried re-installing the drivers using the ones available online, and nothing. I've also installed HTC Sync which simply doesn't find the device despite being plugged in. The Hero reckons it is connected, complete with USB symbol and HTC sync symbol. So what have I done wrong? I've tried all the obvious ones - reinstalling drivers, different USB port, turning both off and on again (many times), uninstalling, reinstalling etc etc....

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just been reading Complete backup regarding backup tools.What I am looking for is a way to backup my phone in an idiot proof fashion, so that I can get it back to the factory and OS settings it originally comes with.When I say backup, I'm not too concerned about SMS, email etc - but more of a one-touch way of resetting the phone to factory status in case I bugger things up when rooting (I can guarantee I'll attempt that one day).Do I need Sprite for that, or will the phone come with some sort of 'recovery disk'?

The google SDK driver doesn't yet work with the Incredible, and though it can be hacked - this download might be easier for some.
At the Google Android Developer Lab event today I had the opportunity to try out a series of devices but was somewhat limited due to issues I had with the USB drivers for the XP/SP2 notebook I brought along. (Yeah I know) In the past, I've had no problem with the G1 or Google Ion, but the Motorola DROID, HTC Hero, Tattoo and a few others did not work, i.e. were not, or only partially visible. Before you ask, this problem persisted after updating the XP USB drivers to the latest _r2.
Has anybody successfully connected devices outside of the G1 and Google Ion on XP? Any tips?
After having been one of the more vocal complainers about the lack of devices available for developers, I've followed the moral imperative once this opportunity was provided by Google. Big thanks to the team at Google for filling this gap.
after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
