i have a hero, which i got off ebay,works well, but i was using scanner for barcode, and it goes to the last users google account, when trying to scan apps!can i sort it without a full reset? not very up on all settings yet,

I recall few phones had a process to put ROM on SDcard and with special hardware key combinations, it used to re-flash fron SDcard.

I've got a ton of apps, so I'm looking for an app drawer replacement that allows me to sort apps by frequency of use. I'm imagining a list view that will sort my most used apps to the top (I'm bad at remembering app names, so it always takes me a while to find something).
I'd prefer some sort of standalone app organizer, not a launcher replacement, since I like the launcher I'm currently using.
Is there an app. where you can use the camera of your Hero to scan any texts and convert it to a word document where you can copy and paste the text? Does such app. exist? Scan2PDF scans stuffs into PDF but it doesn't allow you to copy and paste texts.

Is there any applications that can allow to create a sort by type ? I don't want to install new launcher like Go launcher but just mods or apks that can I use with my default launcher.
I'm kinda new to android, and not sure if this is a handset or os thing but, when you swipe up from the bottom of the x10 screen to display all your apps, is there a way to sort the apps into folders. i.e. move all games into a games folder, put all work apps into a work folder, etc. like i said not sure if this is an os thing or if i could download an app to do it, i have done a little searching online but didn't come up with any answers.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI go to plug my phone into my computer and mount it and then I get a message on my computer asking do I want to scan the driver, When I click yes it does nothing, and then When I go to my computer to click my Hero Vista wont let me it says please insert a disk. If I click Continue without scanning I am able to get into the Hero. Whats going on here?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just been reading Complete backup regarding backup tools.What I am looking for is a way to backup my phone in an idiot proof fashion, so that I can get it back to the factory and OS settings it originally comes with.When I say backup, I'm not too concerned about SMS, email etc - but more of a one-touch way of resetting the phone to factory status in case I bugger things up when rooting (I can guarantee I'll attempt that one day).Do I need Sprite for that, or will the phone come with some sort of 'recovery disk'?
Regardless of that, should I get Sprite in any case for day to day backup? The site looks very impressive.
Looks like in the stock browser, the bookmark sort setting is not being saved. I have mine set to sort Most used. However, if I reboot or kill the browser via a task manager, then go back to bookmarks, it is set as sort by Newest. Can anyone confirm they are getting this as well?

When I get and answer a call, when the call ends its dropping to the people app, vs Home or where the phone was BEFORE the call.
Just wondering if I am alone in that as I find it kinda annoying.
This is a multi question post kinda =). If I kill Handcent with task killer and put my phone in sleep mode with a single press of the power key I will not get any texts until I wake my phone up and then they all roll in. If I don't kill the task I seem to get texts while the phone is idle and asleep. Also I set the default text app the hancent now when ever I send a text it only opens handcent which is good, but if I receive a text it opens handcent the default app and google voice.
Any ideas on how to sort this out ? I did a forum search but did not find any thing that solved my issues.
Can't send picture messages or receive em' regular texts work fine already tried calling Sprint-

I see the icons for new notifications but unable to get to the screen. when I touch the top of the screen and move it down, nothing happens. It was working fine yesterday. View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom the moment I received my HTC Hero from orange several weeks ago I noticed the when I press the back arrow button on the bottom right of the phone its clicks and creaks, dont think its the button itself but its the plastic battery case that makes the sound.
Does anyone else have this problem?
At first, I thought it was just a problem with my code, but I've since discovered that this problem applies even to the default, unmodified app templates I can choose from when creating a project in Eclipse. Every app only takes up a fraction of the screen. Here's my layout for an example, but again, it affects all of them:

The specified screen resolution is, as in the droid, 854x480. It shows up in the emulator in horizontal or vertical mode. The map starts about a third of the way from the left and ends about a third of the way from the right. It starts at the top and ends about a third of the way from the bottom of the screen. I have no clue why that would happen, as I specified "fill_parent".
I've tried a variety of things. I switched to a linearlayout, as one page I saw recommended. I tried spelling out absolute layout widths. I tried all sorts of stuff. The map stubbornly remains surrounded by black on all sides. One thing I noticed was that when I specified widths and heights that were really large, way bigger than the screen, the map showed up as pure white instead of as a map. But it still had the black all around the map as described above. The title bar likewise is truncated by the black bars on either side and only takes up 1/3 of the width, whether in landscape or portrait mode.
The apps that come by default on the emulator take up the fullscreen, but everything I install from Eclipse does not.
Can I program for Android using Python? I seem to have stumbled upon many links while searching... however neither of them is concrete.Any suggestions? I want to write apps for Android but really don't want to get into Java for all this. PS: My question is whether I can write proper, full fledged apps for Android.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy current mobile phone is an LG/Sprint Optimus S, whose camera has 3.2 mpx resolution. My previous (and first) smart phone was an HTC Pure which runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and is perhaps better known as the Topaz, Pure being its AT&T edition. The camera on that phone does 5.0 mpx, so it's obviously much better. Even on just the small device screens, you can see the quality difference at a glance.
For a particular objective, I need to be able to take good pictures on the go, but have the Internet connection provided by my current Android device. In other words, I want to take pictures with the HTC, beam them to my Optimus, and then use that to send out the pictures. I was having a bit of trouble getting the devices to work well together in their native states, so I flashed a version of Froyo onto the old HTC. Having done that, I found that the Bluetooth connection between the devices worked quite well. But when I try to use one of the Android camera apps to take pictures on the HTC, it's not taking full advantage of the lens' capability. The photos show up on the screen about the size of a large postage stamp; in fact not much bigger than a thumbnail picture.
Do Android camera apps not work at any better resolution than 3.2?
I've had some odd problems since my Froyo update, calls going straight to voicemail and people not hearing me when I make or receive calls - all intermittent of course! I've decided I'm going to reset to factory and just back up texts and contacts, I'll just reinstall the apps afterwards - probably don't need half of them anyway.. Question is they are all installed on my SD card now, will factory reset get rid of them from the mem card? I want them all gone and to start again...I'd hate to think they were wasting space on my SD card....otherwise I'll have move them back before reset..

Would the reset cancel the unlocking and revert the phone back to locked to a network?

While I'm on the subject of gaming I have also downloaded the snesoid light and find the music and gaming a little sluggish. Is this just how it is or is there anything I can do to sort that? Would the full paid version work any better?
