After 3 install/uninstall/install attempts my phone is syncing with my vista laptop, but the my outlook 2007 calendar and contact information only goes one way, from the laptop to the phone. I can't find the settings (conflict?) that will allow the two devices to swap info.?

It doesn't do anything, I have the phone turned on, the sync software running and I plug the USB cable in, a "found new hardware" screen pops up, I click Locate and install drivers but it can't find any!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm getting frustrated trying to get my Hero to connect with my PC, I've installed HTC Sync 2.0.4 on my PC but when I plug my Hero in via USB first I get this message. so i select locate and install driver software and then i get this message and then it's all over, I've downloaded what i think are the latest drivers and used device manager to manually select where to find the drivers and i still get the same message, it'll be a shame if i cant get it to sync because i like the phone but without it being able to sync it's just a paper weight, hope you guys can help me get it sorted

After the "Finding HTC Sync on your PC" message, I get an error message saying: "Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC. Please make sure that HTC Sync is installed and opened on your PC [which it is]".
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have just bought an HTC Desire but i cant make the sync with HTC sync work. After af search of approximatitely 15 seconds a popup on the phone says that it can't find HTC sync on the computer. The USB connection works fine for file sharing. In my hardware monitor (dont know the english word for the window, but that in Control Panel -> System ->??? where you can see all attached devieces) i see a deveice called "My HTC" with a yellow exclamation triangle. I suspect the problem is here, but dont know has to solve it. The HTC sync has all button disabled so i cannot access the "Repair tool" i think there is in the sync manager.
- Disable all firewall(none), antivirus (Norton) and Spyware protection (AdAware) before installing HTC sync.
- Used "Run" -> "msconfig" to disable all non-MS processes and remove all starting app. Then restarted the computer and reinstalled (suggest to HTC to another user)..........
Seems to be another Vista and sync problem: Laptop will recognise Desire in "Disc Drive" mode, but not in "Sync" mode. No response from the lappy and error flung up on the Desire ""Unable to find HTC sync on your PC ...etc"

I'm running AOSP 1.6, but it was just there earlier today. I only did a Nandroid restore recently, but I can't think of anything I did to make it re-appear if it was already missing. Help!
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is winding me up. When i first got the phone I could only get it to work with the HTC Sync that was on the memory stick a i mounted the sd card. Today due to problems I have rested the phone to factory default AND installed a clean version of window vista home premium 32bit edition. I connected the htc to windows and nothing happened!! No notifications or anything, so i downloaded the latest HTC Sync and installed it, connected the phone and nothing happened. I want to get photos off the phone but can't at the moment.
View 15 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tried using HTC Sync to synchronise Outlook Calendar and Contacts with the Hero on Vista (Ultimate)? I have had great problems getting the phone and PC/Laptop to recognise each other, despite turning off Firewall and Antivirus and allowing HTC Sync to run as Administrator. I have only got it to work once on my Laptop, despite uninstalling and reinstalling, and I only got it to work a second time on my PC after several reboots. I don't have problems synching other devices (Treo 650 and TomTom) so I don't think it is a hardware problem.
If you use Categories for Calendar entries in Outlook then watch out, as the Hero Calendar does not support them and deletes them all, which resulted (for me) with a lot of duplicate entries in Outlook. One-way syncs (PC -> Hero) might be the only solution if I want to keep Categories. Other than that, the phone is great. I am sure that the inevitable teething problems will be sorted out soon.
I go to plug my phone into my computer and mount it and then I get a message on my computer asking do I want to scan the driver, When I click yes it does nothing, and then When I go to my computer to click my Hero Vista wont let me it says please insert a disk. If I click Continue without scanning I am able to get into the Hero. Whats going on here?

The only way I know that I can even see it is by doing a USB mount to copy files over to the MicroSD. I did some Googling and it looks like others are having the same problem. Just wondering if anyone found a work around. I have yet to try it on one of my XP machines.

My question is that I have 400+ contacts in my cell now, I have a separate 180 in my gmail account. Can I pic and choose who gets synced to my phone? I don't need every person I ever e-mailed in my cell contacts.

The cache is stored in Resources.java mDrawableCache. The key to retrieve the drawable from this cache is combining the data and assertCookie fields of TypedValue class. In my application, there are 2 resources, ex. a color background and image drawable, evaluated to the SAME key value.. So just wondering, how can it happen?BTW, I am using eclair SDK.

This activity belongs to a task that has a service running and is usually not killed, so even when I am in the home screen I see the task running on DDMS (I will call it Task A).
It is possible to start Activity A from another application (running on Task B). When it is launched, I assume Activity A is "reparented" to the Task A. I assume that, because the debugger stops on the breakpoint I have set on onCreate and I am debugging Task A only. Please, advise if this is not correct.
So at this point, as far as I can tell, Task A has only Activity A. When in this situation, the service running on Task A receives some event and puts a notification on the Notification bar. This notification, if clicked, will send an Intent that also starts Activity A (this Intent has flags FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP).
Now to the problem, what I expected is that, because of the CLEAR_TOP flag, Activity A would be destroyed and recreated, as it has standard launch mode. But what I observe is that another Activity A launches on top of the previous one. When I click BACK on the new instance of Activity A, the old instance is redisplayed, what for my use case is wrong. Note that this only happens when launching Activity A from another application. If I launch it from my application and click on the event on the notification bar, it is destroyed and relaunched.

I'm testing an app I'm developing and asked a friend to install on their device. I wanted to make it as easy as possible for them to help me out so I put the .apk up on my website for them to download to the phone (rather than making them download the SDK and use adb to install). The install of the downloaded .apk fails, complaining of a package conflict.
I have since gotten my hands on the phone briefly and I verified that:
* they have selected "allow unsigned apps" in settings
* there is no package with the same (or similar) name in data/data * installing via adb works with not a peep
* when I download the .apk to my phone the app installs fine.
It would be really nice to make it as easy as possible to distribute to people who might be willing to do me the favor of testing.
I just downloaded Locale and have the free Power Manager. My question is, do they conflict on settings, and do I have to disable one to get the other to work correctly?

Atleast by using the native app, I have it pull every hour during the week, and on the weekend its every 3hrs. But this seems to constantly be pulling the mailbox, is there a way to change it? I'm just trying to maximize battery (Its alot better after 2 weeks of use, just fine tuning)

What exactly is "Sync Internet" and how come it is failing on more than one device?
I just got my Inc and was going through the Gmail settings and saw a setting for "sync 4 days" and was wondering what that meant? Does it only keep 4 days of mail on my phone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedEver since 2.1 OTA I can't get my sync settings to stick.I want it to push items as they arrive. I check that box, but when I exit out, it goes back to manual. I've tried changing this in the email settings and in the main sync settings.This is driving me crazy- I keep missing my work emails!Also- I have never figured out how to get my vibrating notifications back after the OTA. If my ringer is on vibrate, the only notification I have that an item arrived is my LED.Finally- has anyone found the fix to the multiple notification email bug? I still get 3-4 notifications for one email when my ringer is on ring.

I tried "MyBackup" from the market and it backed up my Sensation quite nicely, but it doesn't restore the accounts and setting up everything again was difficult.
Any app that does a backup that includes a backup of the "Accounts & Sync" settings?
