Just wanted to get some pointers on using open home on the sprint hero. Is it the best for the hero? Does it work well? Are contacts or people more customizable?

Is the lock screen customizable? I have a hacked iPhone with an application that shows my mail, incoming IMs, my calendar, etc. This is really handy when I want to take a quick look at something without getting all the way into my phone. Is something similar possible with the Hero?

View 23 Replies View RelatedThis afternoon, I wiped my phone and am starting from scratch. Lock 2.0 was giving me some issues and with all the installing and uninstalling of app's I've been doing in the past couple of weeks, I just decided to start with a fresh slate.
Before I back and download Lock 2.0 again, I wanted to inquire with others out there on their experience with the App. I love it, but I wasn't sure if I didn't set it up correctly or I didn't understand how the app worked because it never did replace the default lock screen after I installed and configured it. I always had to manually launch it, unlock the screen and then it would take over.
Not exactly what I had in mind for my money. Was thinking it was a full replacement for the default lock screen. Maybe I didn't read the fine print well enough.
Also, what's been the experience with Open Home on the Sprint Hero?
I'll come clean and admit I'm a Mac super-user stuck without an iPhone (I love Sprint!!). I carry my iPod touch and my Hero with me pretty much everywhere. I am LOVING my Hero though! It does exactly what I wanted it to.
I like to get in and customize to the nth degree, but not at the expense of crappy app's that mess up my stuff.
I am about to get my Hero back and was wondering if Open Home & Sense UI played nice together? Will I get to use Open Home & HTC Widgets? I have been using it on my Moment, but not sure if I even need it with my hero, just want to be able to use different icons & skins. Would I be better with Pandahome or DX?

I forgot to ask as well.I've searched online and the "chin" hero seems to have a little dent where you can prop it open. The Sprint Hero looks pretty solid... but I know you have to open it to replace the SD card so my question is how do I do it without ruining the molding?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI constantly see the same apps opening throughout the day. I think I have narrowed it down to when I get a text message it opens up a few other things. I have installed Handcent and disabled the stock message app i think. I have closed all apps and recieved a text and here is what opens everytime. Voice Dialer, com.coremobility.app.vnotes, sprint navigation, and still the Messages app opens even though it comes through Handcent.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn my previous phone I could set different ringtones for those in my contacts list and then another ringtone for those numbers not in my contacts list so I could tell by the ringtone if someone was calling that was in my contacts list or not.On the Hero there doesn't seem to be any way to do this.I was also able to set different volume levels for various notifications (ie, louder for phone calls and quieter for email and sms notifications).Does anyone know if this is possible on the hero?

We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. View 17 Replies View RelatedAll of the tickets are electronic tickets (pdf) saved in my gmail, and I thought I would be able to open up the files and just let them scan my phone. Yet when I tried to open the file, it pulled up the PDF viewer app and then told me it wasn't able to open it. Why is this? I also just tried saving the attachment to my sd card from the gmail app and open it from there, but I couldn't figure out how to save an attachment from an email to my phone. Any help here would be great.

I can send a pic through them, but when the person responds to the text, its says download, I press that and its unable to DL it says. My friend sent a pic twice on handcent, the same one, and it came through the second time only. Sometimes no pic will work at all. With hancent it resizes automatic, thats great, but still the same issue. Man I love everything about this phone but this is really annoying.

I have searched and haven't found any solution to this problem. I have done a soft reset (battery out for 3 minutes) but it still happens. I'm going to call Sprint to see if they know what is up.

Now, because of the new features added to Open Home i want to switch back, and every time i open 'Open Home' it only opens until i hit the home key. Then it does not ask me what i want to use as my default as it used to. I went to settings>applications>manage applications>open home to clear all defaults but it is not highlighted for me to select it. How can i set Open Home to my default again?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI installed the wireless tethering app today and decided to play with it for the heck of it, I was able to set it up, and when I went to my laptop and hit refresh I was able to see the network, I then tried to connect and it would not connect, as it said something about a 13 key ascii so I checked to see and checked the password and still could not connect got the same error message, i then decided to disable the encryption and then refresh the network and tried to connect again, I was able to connect but was not able to open a page up, now i don't know if that was because my reception was not great but still would not open a web page, any suggestions, another note, it rebooted the phone about 3 times and froze the phone once, I am on the AOSP Mod ROM V 0.9.7. I know the Cat mentioned he got his to work, just curious if it was with this Rom or the CM6 one, any input would be great, just want it as a backup incase of in a bind.
