Sprint HTC Hero :: Unable To Open Received Picture

I have used the stock sms, Chomp sms, and handcent sms and they all seem to have the same problem. I can send a pic through them, but when the person responds to the text, its says download, I press that and its unable to DL it says. My friend sent a pic twice on handcent, the same one, and it came through the second time only. Sometimes no pic will work at all. With hancent it resizes automatic, thats great, but still the same issue. Man I love everything about this phone but this is really annoying.

Anyone have a problem not being able to see received picture mail?? people send me a photo and sometimes it just makes a received text sound and i see nothing, or i see the image in the little bubble i click it and then it disappears as if i never got it. i can send picture mail just fine and it shows up on both ends as sent/received on friends phone. however when they send one it barely ever shows me

Why am I not able to send Picture messages? Every time I try to send a picture through text messaging, it says I cannot do it. Why? I downloaded Handcent App and I would love to use it, but When I do use it, I get text messages sent to the App I downloaded, and to the default text messaging that came with the hero. How can I make my text messages only send to Handcent SMS instead of Both? I'm new at having a cell phone that has so much you can do with it, so I will probably have tons of more questions, but these are the 2 questions that I would love to be figured out first and then eventually I will ask others when I have them.

My friend and I have HTC Hero phones. I am with Sprint, she is with Cellular South (a carrier here in south Mississippi). We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. We have played with settings and Goggled this problem, to no avail. nothing works.

All of the tickets are electronic tickets (pdf) saved in my gmail, and I thought I would be able to open up the files and just let them scan my phone. Yet when I tried to open the file, it pulled up the PDF viewer app and then told me it wasn't able to open it. Why is this? I also just tried saving the attachment to my sd card from the gmail app and open it from there, but I couldn't figure out how to save an attachment from an email to my phone. Any help here would be great.

Had to replace my Hero because the old one was acting up, anyway since reinstalling Handcent I have been having issues opening pics or videos. For the most part I get an error message saying downloaded message was unsuccessful.

I installed the wireless tethering app today and decided to play with it for the heck of it, I was able to set it up, and when I went to my laptop and hit refresh I was able to see the network, I then tried to connect and it would not connect, as it said something about a 13 key ascii so I checked to see and checked the password and still could not connect got the same error message, i then decided to disable the encryption and then refresh the network and tried to connect again, I was able to connect but was not able to open a page up, now i don't know if that was because my reception was not great but still would not open a web page, any suggestions, another note, it rebooted the phone about 3 times and froze the phone once, I am on the AOSP Mod ROM V 0.9.7. I know the Cat mentioned he got his to work, just curious if it was with this Rom or the CM6 one, any input would be great, just want it as a backup incase of in a bind.

All the pics I receive by MMS are tiny and apparently only 1kb in size. If I 'open' the pic, it can be stretched a bit, but being only 1kb, the resolution is terrible! I am on O2, but don't know if that's the problem?

I am trying to take a phone number from my call log and edit it to be added to a contact without typing it by hand. On my Sprint Katana, when you clicked on the phone number in the call log, you had the choice to edit or append the number. On my Hero, when I press on the phone number, it calls it? Am I missing a step, or not holding the press long enough? I have searched and read as many as come up under a search, but I can't find any that address it from the call log issue.

I get pics and forward messages that I can't view.. Plus I also like to send pics to people. I have 1.5 on my phone on 2.1 is this issue fixed I will risk the trouble just to send pics. I can't find a solution other then going on sprint.com/picturemail and I'm tired of doing that now.

When I receive gmail on the hero it displays everything but the images that are in the gmail. I have it to sync with my gmail account and when I go there the images are there. I cant find a setting on the hero or on the gmail account to fix this.

I've had my HTC Hero for one week. First day I got it, I walked into a Radio Shack and connected to the open WiFi instantly no problem. I can connect to any secured network (w/ pwd) no problem. However, ever since I put the phone in airplane mode while on a flight, I haven't been able to connect to any open Wifi network. The Hero detects the network and says I'm connected, but I can't get on the internet at all. The phone says it's not in airplane mode but maybe it still is? help please. I'm running android 2.1.

I have not gotten my picture mail since The 1st of the month.I have gotten like 4 total that have slipped through. I have called Sprint like 8 times and was told it was a known problem with the HTC Hero. I asked if it possibly had anything to do with the 2.1 upgrade.I was told absolutely not! On the 7th, one operator told me that the upgrade was coming out on the 9th.On the 9th, no upgrade.So I called and was told that it was coming, but unsure when, but still unrelated.Called again this Monday, still a known unrelated issue. I was offered a service credit if $35.00. Called today and spoke with Operator Pamela. She told me that it is a known problem and would be fixed with the 2.1 update.She said it was suppose to come out on the 9th but got pushed to the end of the month.Keep checking sprint.com/download.

Recently rooted, bloatware gone. 1 click lagfixed and loving it. I tried to receive a pic from a buddy today in a text msg and it showed he sent it. It was 32k, said downloading. Never got the pic. What's up with that?

I already had one to replace the one that it comes with at home so I didn't have Sprint open it to replace it. I forgot to ask as well.I've searched online and the "chin" hero seems to have a little dent where you can prop it open. The Sprint Hero looks pretty solid... but I know you have to open it to replace the SD card so my question is how do I do it without ruining the molding?

When trying to send picture mail on handcent, once i click to send, it just keeps the screen with the little spinning "loading icon" and never actually sends the image. Anyone have any tips to make it work?

How is this supposed to work? I received one yesterday and it said must turn on stock message app to view. That doesn't seem right. Why would we have to open 2 msg apps to get pic mail.I tried it today and it showed a small picture in Chomp tree view, but it wouldn't let me open it or save it.

well i got my phone two months ago, after 1 week of having it my picture mail messages were not coming in, they would get the download, then "unsuccesful download." After dealing with Sprint they convinced me it was a problem on 1 in 4 phones and i had to give up my brand new phone for a stupid refurbished phone. It ended up working until now, around 1 1/2 months.This is not a Wifi Issue, i dont have it turned on, and i am aware of that problem. I have 90mb free on my phone, ive cleared all my caches, pulled battery, turned mobile network off and on. Over the last month i have been getting the download button but they would come through. I would then get a picture message from someone i didnt have a conversation open with, then i would open it and the message would dissapear. Well now today none are going through, its extremely frustrating and i dont want to tell my fanboy iPhone friends they have to email me pictures.
The one workaround to go to the website and view them would be fine if i could view them on my phone. I dont want to log into sprint to view NWS pictures at work.I can log on through my phone, but when going to messages nothing shows. up.I know about the wiping the phone, but that is hours of work getting all apps, setting up my custom scenes, adding all bookmarks, adding all my passwords in the password keeper, rooting, adding all my roms and kernels again.THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING.I love this phone except for this simple function it cant perform.

I just got my Hero a few days ago, previously I had an Instinct. So far I love the Hero, but one of my few complaints about it is having to take pictures by pressing the trackball. The trackball just feels odd to press and most of the time I have to press it multiple times for it to take a photo. Anyone have any solutions to this? I doubt there is a way to change this in the settings, but is there an app or something that uses a more convenient button for photos?

I have an HTC Hero Sprint, phone. My service provider is not sprint, i live in Alaska and have ACS as my provider. I was told that my phone will not do picture messaging, and that it was a phone limitation not a network one. Other users have picture messaging on their blackberries. Can someone recommend a good app for SMS and MMS that might allow me to send picture messages.

It seems that the new fresh ROM 2.3.3 has reduced the quality on pictures from the sd card assigned to a contact. Every time when i call i see that the picture is poor.

I spoke to the sprint customer service today and ask Why i was not receiving picture text on my phone anymore. He said that on april 9, 2010 the new 2.1 will be able to fix the problem.

Whats the deal with receiving pic messages on this phone? When I get a pic messages it doesn't automatically download it, it prompts me to download and sometimes it won't download. I've checked the settings but cant find anything that will let me automatically download.
