i use google contacts to sync my personal numbers to my phone but for some reason everytime i email someone from somewhere like craigslist that anonymous address is saved to my contacts? wtf? how do i stop this?

When I add a google contact through the phone, it does not updates my contacts with google. Exactly the opposite when I add a contact to google. Is this whats supposed to happen?

Is there any way to fix this without rebooting and wiping everything off of my phone? How do you even reboot anyway? View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
There are 1000 people trying to get their phone contacts to become google contacts, but i want my google contacts to become phone contacts so i can get them to sync to my windows contacts.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI synced all my gmail contacts to my phone but now when I go into gmail and check my contacts I have 1 that keeps showing up multiple times. Last time I looked he had over 50 entries. I deleted all but 1 and an hour later he's back another 25 times. I just put the 2.1 leak on my phone yesterday. Maybe that's the problem? Strange that it's only the 1 contact though.

I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.
Just got my greasy hands on a HTC Hero and loving it. I have used HTC to transfer my Outlook contacts to the phone as a one-off but even though I have "Sync Contacts" enabled (Home->Settings->Data Sync->Google->Contacts) on the phone I don't see these contact details when I log into Gmail on my Win PC and click contacts? Incidentally my calendar syncs from Hero to Gmail/calendar perfectly.

If I match pictures to contacts on my phone will it sync with my web mail contacts, or will it work if I sync my google contacts on my web mail, then sync to my phone. I opened the FB app from my Rezound (ICS) and looked at the settings. The "Sync Contacts" option is set to "Don't sync"
Then I looked in the Android Settings --->Accounts&sync--->facebook where there are three boxes, sync calendar, sync contacts, and sync live feed. I made sure all those boxes are unchecked.
I figured I'd just try deleting FB from my Rezound but it seems to be undeletable if that's a word. It's like standard bloatware that I actually use on occasion.
So why are my FB contacts still merged with my Google contacts? I am seeing my contacts with their FB photo and this drives me crazy. I don't want FB communicating with my address book. Gingerbread didn't do this.
I have contacts on my Gmail account.They have phone numbers, notes, etc.I can see all of this information in the contacts area of my Gmail account, but the only thing that shows up on the contacts area of my Hero is their name and email address.

I've never been one to keep a very neat & tidy Google contact book (though, I guess it's about time to start), so I'm noticing that now that I've synced my phone with my Google account, I have TONS upon TONS of contacts -- many of which I don't even want in my phone. Obviously, the phone has added my G mail contacts. So now, as I'm adding everyone's phone numbers (something I never kept in G mail), I'm added it to their Google Contacts listing. I'm on a stock OS with the latest updated ROM.
In my previous phone I could set different ringtones for those in my contacts list and then another ringtone for those numbers not in my contacts list so I could tell by the ringtone if someone was calling that was in my contacts list or not.On the Hero there doesn't seem to be any way to do this.I was also able to set different volume levels for various notifications (ie, louder for phone calls and quieter for email and sms notifications).Does anyone know if this is possible on the hero?
