Sprint HTC Hero :: USB Symbol Doesn't Go Away
Jul 1, 2010I have a question. This isn't really a huge problem but it is one. Whenever I unplug my charge cable, the USB symbol at the top left doesn't go away.

Jul 5, 2010I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

Jan 19, 2010I thought I would share my experience with my HTC Hero and its in ability to all the sudden connect to the network. I woke up today and my htc hero would not connect to the network. I may have powered my phone down for the first time in weeks last night and that what caused it to not be able to connect. Anyhow, the culprit?the "wheres my droid" application. I put this on my phone a month ago and I had problems with my phone, so I deleted it and a handful of other apps that I thought might have messed up my phone. Then I tried it again about a week ago, and just this morning my phone stop connecting to the network. As a result I deleted it cuz it was the last app i downloaded. Presto, my phone started working again I went to the sprint store and everything and they didnt know what was wrong with it and were about to switch me to a new hero. I said HOLD ON, I dont want a new phone and have to set it up all over again.

Nov 11, 2009I have a new Sprint hero and the Flip Clock doesn't flip it just changes and I've seen the Euro Hero it flips so cool, just like the flip clocks from the old days.. WTH why do our American phones always come watered down when compared to the Asian and Euro models!!!! Sorry for the rant! But I paid for a hero with a Flipping Clock that actually flips!! P.S. i've done some Youtubeing and all the videos that have the Sprint Hero they don't flip why!

Feb 23, 2010I rooted and installed the gumbo kernel and fresh 1.1 yesterday. Everything went smooth. The only problem I have noticed is that the browsers can no longer access my location. I put the location service back on the phone but no luck. When I go to a site like buzz or access the google home page it can't get my location. Any advice on this? Not a huge deal but I know it worked with the default browser beforehand and doesn't now. I've noticed when I use something that needs GPS the gps icon appears but it doesn't stay there all the time.

May 30, 2010When I computer either a) the drive doesn't show in my computer or b) the drive shows up for a minute but then crashes with no warning. May 10, 2010I have tried every trick from every site. But ever since I rooted my wife's phone its battery doesn't last pass 7-8 hours. I done the *#*#4636#*#*, the gps on networks off, auto killer on aggressive, battery defender and still her battery doesn't last. She keeps blue tooth on all the time and has three email accounts set @ every 15 mins. She says that when she was stock 1.5 it lasted all day. But the stock rom would restart by itself all the time. Boy I wish that I never rooted her phone. I've upgraded radio without any change in performance. What 2.1rom is easiest on the battery? Can I flash her back to a 1.5 rooted rom that is not a battery hog. I love my Fresh 2.0d I'm 75% at night before I go to bed. But I don't blue tooth either.

Oct 3, 2010I put my phone on vibrate and everything seems to be working fine except for some parts..when i get a text my vibrate doesn't work [i'm using chompsms] but when i'm on the phone and i get a text my phone ivbrates or when i set the keyboard to vibrate it doesn't work or i get mail notifications of mail or from fb it doesn't work but other than that all the vibrates seem to be working fine. can anyone help me? i was wondering if i could just press the factory reset on my phone to see if that would work but i'm rooted.. would that effect anything? like if i were to do that, would it brick my phone since its rooted? i was going to unroot it and bring it in to sprint but i heard that there were some issues when people tried flashing back so i don't know if i want to do that..

Jun 18, 2010The problem - when viewing a webpage such as craigslist, if I click into an ad and then go back to the previous page my location on the previous page always defaults close to the top of the page instead of that last link I clicked. This is a very annoying problem if your a hardcore craigslist junkie like me because you can be you have to scroll back thru all of the ads you looked at just to get back to where you originally were.
Trying to fix the problem using two kinds of soft resets, a hard reset, resets followed by reinstallations of 2.1 ,etc etc, I finally went to a sprint store to get it checked out and the rep had a Hero that did the same damn thing! Apparently he didn't have a problem with his phone doing this because he just kept giving me some dumb blank stare.
1.5 never had a problem with web pages forgetting their locations when using the back button. Yet I haven't seen anybody else complain about this. Is anybody else able to recreate this problem? One thing to look for, after I reset the phone, reinstalled 2.1 or cleared the internet cache, the phone will do fine for a few minutes, recognizing pages like its supposed to, but after usually 4-6 times of clicking links the phone goes right back to forgetting locations.
I upgraded to 2.1. With 1.5 I had a phone I loved that worked fine and the only problem I had was a laggy phone-book, now I have a phone with a laggy dialer and that doesn't do web pages correctly. BTW, it does this with all browsers, not just the stock browser and Dolphin.

Mar 17, 2010This is something I have wondered about Android OS/Hero/Sprint since day one of my purchase, but I have never brought it up here. When mobile network is off and WiFi is enabled, I cannot retrieve my Yahoo Mail. It has never really bothered me, because when mobile network is connected and WiFi is off, my mail app (which is connected to Yahoo - I don't use Gmail) worked perfectly fine. Does anybody else use Yahoo as their email server and has the same issue? Is it just Google sticking it to their customers and to Yahoo by saying "ok, if you wan't to use our (#1 competitor's) email service, then we will make it so it will only work on Mobile Networks.

Jan 11, 2010I'm having a problem with the clock/weather widget on my Hero. I have it set to Current City and I noticed the other day that the weather wasn't updating. ( I live in Long Beach, CA) It was stuck on one weather. I especially noticed when it still said partly sunny at 11pm. It doesn't work even if i try to manually update.
I thought it was just the current city function that was having trouble registering but when I go to other cities nearby it updates fine. And when I specifically set it to Long Beach, CA, it was still stuck and not updating.
Anyone else having this problem? Is there something wrong with the weather equipment in Long Beach?

Sep 16, 2010after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
