I am using a custom ROM that apparently doesn't include a .pdf reader. Can anyone give me a quick source (link would be nice) to either the stock 2.1 pdf viewer, or point me to a good free one in the market? I'm leaving on a trip this afternoon, and will need to be able to read some .pdfs while away.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI thought I would share my experience with my HTC Hero and its in ability to all the sudden connect to the network. I woke up today and my htc hero would not connect to the network. I may have powered my phone down for the first time in weeks last night and that what caused it to not be able to connect. Anyhow, the culprit?the "wheres my droid" application. I put this on my phone a month ago and I had problems with my phone, so I deleted it and a handful of other apps that I thought might have messed up my phone. Then I tried it again about a week ago, and just this morning my phone stop connecting to the network. As a result I deleted it cuz it was the last app i downloaded. Presto, my phone started working again I went to the sprint store and everything and they didnt know what was wrong with it and were about to switch me to a new hero. I said HOLD ON, I dont want a new phone and have to set it up all over again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Sprint hero and the Flip Clock doesn't flip it just changes and I've seen the Euro Hero it flips so cool, just like the flip clocks from the old days.. WTH why do our American phones always come watered down when compared to the Asian and Euro models!!!! Sorry for the rant! But I paid for a hero with a Flipping Clock that actually flips!! P.S. i've done some Youtubeing and all the videos that have the Sprint Hero they don't flip why!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted and installed the gumbo kernel and fresh 1.1 yesterday. Everything went smooth. The only problem I have noticed is that the browsers can no longer access my location. I put the location service back on the phone but no luck. When I go to a site like buzz or access the google home page it can't get my location. Any advice on this? Not a huge deal but I know it worked with the default browser beforehand and doesn't now. I've noticed when I use something that needs GPS the gps icon appears but it doesn't stay there all the time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried every trick from every site. But ever since I rooted my wife's phone its battery doesn't last pass 7-8 hours. I done the *#*#4636#*#*, the gps on networks off, auto killer on aggressive, battery defender and still her battery doesn't last. She keeps blue tooth on all the time and has three email accounts set @ every 15 mins. She says that when she was stock 1.5 it lasted all day. But the stock rom would restart by itself all the time. Boy I wish that I never rooted her phone. I've upgraded radio without any change in performance. What 2.1rom is easiest on the battery? Can I flash her back to a 1.5 rooted rom that is not a battery hog. I love my Fresh 2.0d I'm 75% at night before I go to bed. But I don't blue tooth either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI put my phone on vibrate and everything seems to be working fine except for some parts..when i get a text my vibrate doesn't work [i'm using chompsms] but when i'm on the phone and i get a text my phone ivbrates or when i set the keyboard to vibrate it doesn't work or i get mail notifications of mail or from fb it doesn't work but other than that all the vibrates seem to be working fine. can anyone help me? i was wondering if i could just press the factory reset on my phone to see if that would work but i'm rooted.. would that effect anything? like if i were to do that, would it brick my phone since its rooted? i was going to unroot it and bring it in to sprint but i heard that there were some issues when people tried flashing back so i don't know if i want to do that..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI believe I've just rooted my phone, but haven't put a custom ROM on yet. I've got a few questions about it:
1.) What Sprint apps can be removed without affecting other things? (such as weather widget)
2.) Is there a way to eliminate some of the boot screens (especially the Sprint one) without putting a custom ROM on?
3.) Will root alone, and the removal of those worthless apps speed up my phone a bit? (especially the occasional lag in bringing the notification screen down)
4.) Can these changes be undone one by one rather than doing a complete recovery?
Im still trying to get a good feel for what i am doing before i go and root my phone and flash a custom rom. my last real question is i see so many different custom roms people are using. where can i find all these to put on my phone. also i am on 2.1 do i have to use a 2.something custom rom or can i use any custom rom. im at about an 95% user ability as far as using my phone and computer. i have never hacked/ flashed/ altered anything like a phone or computer or video game system. i have always just used as is. i wanna try this becuase i have read i can go back and go stock on this if i cant do it or dont like the results.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been around these forums since the Hero came out. I was lurking then and became a member when I bought a Hero 2 weeks later. I enjoy my Hero although yes it is slow at times. I love watching my SprintTV on my phone and listening to Pandora. I have read that if I but a custom ROM on and SetCPU and a few other goodies, I can speed the phone up a lot and have a better experience. I also hear that I can tether without having to use PDANet.
1. Can I still use Sprint TV?
2. Is the speed boost really worth installing a Custom ROM
3. What is the benefit of just Rooting the phone and keeping the Stock ROM?
4. I see this voids the warranty, but if you put the stock software back on the phone, does sprint ever know that you rooted if you take it in for service?
5. And can some of you that have done this process list out the top 5 favorite features you got out of this. Makes these actual results, not just what you heard about.
I have MoDaCo 1.1 and I can't update my firmware? I do all the normal steps settings, about phone, update and it checks for an update, but finds nothing and I know I am running on the old 1.29.651.1 How do I get the update online or another way from my phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem - when viewing a webpage such as craigslist, if I click into an ad and then go back to the previous page my location on the previous page always defaults close to the top of the page instead of that last link I clicked. This is a very annoying problem if your a hardcore craigslist junkie like me because you can be you have to scroll back thru all of the ads you looked at just to get back to where you originally were.
Trying to fix the problem using two kinds of soft resets, a hard reset, resets followed by reinstallations of 2.1 ,etc etc, I finally went to a sprint store to get it checked out and the rep had a Hero that did the same damn thing! Apparently he didn't have a problem with his phone doing this because he just kept giving me some dumb blank stare.
1.5 never had a problem with web pages forgetting their locations when using the back button. Yet I haven't seen anybody else complain about this. Is anybody else able to recreate this problem? One thing to look for, after I reset the phone, reinstalled 2.1 or cleared the internet cache, the phone will do fine for a few minutes, recognizing pages like its supposed to, but after usually 4-6 times of clicking links the phone goes right back to forgetting locations.
I upgraded to 2.1. With 1.5 I had a phone I loved that worked fine and the only problem I had was a laggy phone-book, now I have a phone with a laggy dialer and that doesn't do web pages correctly. BTW, it does this with all browsers, not just the stock browser and Dolphin.
This is something I have wondered about Android OS/Hero/Sprint since day one of my purchase, but I have never brought it up here. When mobile network is off and WiFi is enabled, I cannot retrieve my Yahoo Mail. It has never really bothered me, because when mobile network is connected and WiFi is off, my mail app (which is connected to Yahoo - I don't use Gmail) worked perfectly fine. Does anybody else use Yahoo as their email server and has the same issue? Is it just Google sticking it to their customers and to Yahoo by saying "ok, if you wan't to use our (#1 competitor's) email service, then we will make it so it will only work on Mobile Networks.
