HTC Hero :: Can't Find Tilde Symbol
Jan 20, 2010I can't find the tilde symbol ~ , on my htc hero's keyboard. Can someone clue me in on where it is or if it's not there at all, which i am beginning to believe.

I was playing about with multi con and cleared my home screen but then tried to get them all back and the only one I'm having trouble with is anycut i can't find it on the market the app symbol was a musical note (a cleff I think its called) it let me make playlists and put them in the shortcut.

Jan 30, 2010I have a number of contacts with a phone number entry like 407-555-1212~Peter. I use it to differentiate between cellphones for husband and wife in the same contact record. It's worked great on my previous phones, but with Contacts on my Nexus One, the entire string is converted into a number like 407555121257259, and the phone announces that the number cannot be dialed. Any suggestions?

Oct 13, 2010I need to generate an apk file using an ant script but I'm having problems in the compile target. To generate automatically the ant script I've used the android tool with the command "android update project". The problem is that this project depends on another project so I need to do a custom compile task. For that reason I've overridden that target: I've copied the compiled task from ant_rules_r3.xml and I've changed the javac task like this (I include the comments of what I've changed)code...
but it doesn't solve the problem. If I set it to 1.3 instead of 1.6 it gets more errors so it seems it is using the JDK I'm setting here. Any suggestion?

Jun 7, 2010Im still trying to get a good feel for what i am doing before i go and root my phone and flash a custom rom. my last real question is i see so many different custom roms people are using. where can i find all these to put on my phone. also i am on 2.1 do i have to use a 2.something custom rom or can i use any custom rom. im at about an 95% user ability as far as using my phone and computer. i have never hacked/ flashed/ altered anything like a phone or computer or video game system. i have always just used as is. i wanna try this becuase i have read i can go back and go stock on this if i cant do it or dont like the results.

However the Camera Zoom FX barcode was not recognized? I've also tried to manually search for this in the Android Market and although there are lots of add ons to the app in there I cant find the original app where you have to pay $1.29 or something. I would really like to get this app as the only slightly disappointing thing for me on this phone is the camera and any way of me improving it would be great.

May 3, 2010Good evening, I just switched over to the Hero from a blackberry curve. Is there any easy way to find out which applications are running in the background? I go to manage applications and then I try to sort by running but I see no order of which apps are running and the only ones I know that are running are the ones that say force quit. Is this correct? If so, is there any other way to easily find out which apps are running. Is there a way to sort them and be able to find the running applications without having to manually clicking on each app? I have tons of things on this thing and it takes forever to do this.

Feb 5, 2010I recently got the HTC G2 Touch and sometimes it is a great phone and sometimes it's the most expensive brick i've ever bought. I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions,
1. I'm surprised the phone doesn't have a music equalizer. Are there any apps that do this?
2. Toon Warz lags on my phone quite alot. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
3. When I play a song there is a stutter at the beginning of each song, is there any way to stop this? And when I press pause it doesn't pause straight away, or when using the buttons on the headphones.
4. Why can't I find Doom on the market? I've searched literally everything!
5. If I buy a game, does it just get charged onto my phone bill?
6. I know that you can uninstall a game within 24 hours and you won't be charged, but couldn't you just uninstall and reinstall an app every 24 hours and not get charged?
I know that this isn't the G2 Touch part of the forum but this area gets more views and the phones are practically the same!

Oct 2, 2009I've just got my hands on a HTC Hero and I can't find the handwriting support that numerous websites AND the Orange website who supplied the phone said it had.I've looked around on the web a bit and can't seem to find any cast iron information on this but almost all of them give "Handwriting support" as one of the key features of this phone.

Jul 30, 2010My Hero rebooted itself when i cut it off and cut it back on due to aggravation of lag. after spending half the day fooling with getting back some apps, my contacts from google and the whole issue with syncing facebook to my contacts. i thought i could easily just look up my city for the weather widget location.
Well before the reboot my weather showed just fine, my location and everything. now my city isn't even in the data base and my gps and such is turned on. some of the directions ive read on using the gps to find my location has become a headache because i don't think i have those features.
When i go into my weather settings and click the + sign it goes straight to search location. i type in the name of my city and it doesn't come up.
