Whenever I'm in area that doesn't get good service I put my phone in Evdo only instead of hybrid, but when I do the phone doesn't ring or and I don't get texts either is it supposed to be like this and is there any way to fix it? PS: I'm just running stock and not rooted or anything

I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

Does anyone else find it annoying when your in a meeting or lecture or church and someone tries to turn down the volume on their phone, only to have the phone beep with every change in volume? Is there any way to turn off this volume response when using the volume controls on the side of the Sprint Hero? Likewise, any way to turn off the sound when turning the phone on/off?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.
How can i fix the ringer on my hero? when the phone rigs is nice and loud but then the voume goes down real low.

Am I missing something, or is this capability gone with 2.1? Was there a market place app I was running that I forgot to reload, or is this feature just gone?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo just yesterday 12-1-09 my phone stopped receiving text messages and phone calls. People try to call me and get 4 rings then voicemail. My phone doesnt ring at all. I can place calls and browse the internet, run sprint navigation and all my apps just fine. It has been a perfect phone ever since I bought it. (11-01-09). I did a factory Hard Reset and still my phone didnt receive calls. Called Sprint and they had me turn off my phone and refreshed some info. Had to change the MSID # when i turned my phone back on but still nothing. Has anyone else had this happen to them. The only way I can receive my text messages is if I place a call then they seem to come through.

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.

I just recieved my hero today and I love it except when I get a text or call it only vibrates, even when the ringer is on full volume. I went to Settings>Ringtone> and everytime I changed my ringtone, it WOULD NOT sample the tone even when the media and ringtone volume was FULL!

The only tome I had any frustrations was getting the clips unhooked also removing the cracked piece from the super strong adhesive. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Hero just over a month now and yesterday for the first time i received a facebook notification on my Hero. Since i have had my phone I've never seen this. I normally get a notification telling me that i have a new email which sometimes is an email from facebook telling me i have a new invite or what ever. But this notification was a facebook specific one, it had an icon of an 'F' (of Facebook). Does anyone know what option needs to be turned on so that you get Facebook notifications on your Hero? I obviously switched something on which is no longer running cause im no longer getting this notifications.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy desire will not always ring the sms ring notifier when i recieve texts, it annoyed me so much that i decided to do a warranty swap, and the new one does the same thing!is this a standard android thing? it seems to me that if i have recieved or sent a text to somebody within 30 minutes, it will not ring, as though it expects me to be hovering over my phone staring at it for a reply, is this a normal issue? and is there a way to fix it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm moving over to Sprint.I'd rather not pay the $10 4G fee (or whatever you want to call that $10 fee), so I'll probably stick with a 3G phone.Is the Hero the best option? What I really need the phone to be able to do is voice calling, text, email, web browsing, etc. I'm not a power user, so I don't think I'd use the full power of the Evo anyway, so that's another reason to stick with the Hero.And if I understand correctly, I'd be eligible for upgrade pricing after 1yr with Sprint.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI rooted quite awhile back; I think it is Fresh 1.1.It worked fine.This morning it started spontaneously rebooting and is saying com.google.process.gapps. has stopped and all apps have forced close. At that point nothing works.I do have a Sprint contract to fix it but it has been rooted so I don't know what to do.
