I don't know what i was thinking and I added a pretty spammy email account to my hero. I can't for the life of me figure out how just to delete the whole account so no messages get forwarded.

I am new to the Android Universe (Picked up my Sprint HTC Hero yesterday)I have a question about google accounts and email sync.
1st, On my previous phone (Windows Mobile) I had my gmail account set up so that my email is "pushed" to my phone. I thought that the android phones were automatically set up to do that, or do I have to do something to get this to work. I only ask because it seems to take a while to receive emails on my phone.
2nd, Before I got the phone I was reading up on the features, and a lot of the posts I read made it seem like I could access my google reader section, saved maps, sync bookmarks, and anything else I had with my google account. But, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. The most I have figured out on the maps is latitude, and nothing else with reader, bookmarks, etc.
Basically I want to set a different notification sound to each of my different email accounts that I have setup in the mail app (not the gmail one, but the one where you add IMAP accounts) I don't think it's possible since it seems like it should be a function of the mail app and not the system...but there's no place in the mail app to set a sound (that I can find).

2. The non-GMail e-mail works mostly OK for some time (a day or two, an hour or two, etc.); (I do get connection errors, I can't completely delete POP3 email, there's no POP3 auto-checking nor notifications, etc.--for now these annoyances are manageable.),
3. At some point in the future, I go into the app to check mail, and POOF! Everythin' B gone. I'm greeted with the setup screen, as though I had not created the account(s) previously,
4. I recreate the account(s),
5. GOTO 2.
After I read an email, my phone keeps if for a day or so, then deletes it. I don't want it to delete any emails without my approval. Why is it doing this and is there something in settings that will prevent it from deleting emails from my phone? I've spent what seems like hours going through the email settings menus and cant' find anything. Is there something in the general settings menu? Please help. I'm running the stock HTC mail program.

There has been times when it shows 4 unread emails on the phone (even though everything is read) and when I log into gmail it shows the 4 unread emails even if it was ones I deleted. It says so straight up when you go to Settings Accounts & sync -> Add Account -> Google ("You can use more than one Google Account on your phone...").When I try to add the 2nd account I get the issue that other people report when trying to replace their first account, or if they skipped account setup when activating the device. Well this being my first time using a touch screen i typed it wrong! basically i use my name for my email anyways my last name is OROSCO and i accidently typed OROSCP! so my email readed xxxxxxxoroscp@gmail.com. This didnt bother me till i began to use my gmail account as my main email acccount so i decided to change it BUT when i deleted the mispelled account i forgot that my paid apps were linked to that account so now i cant update my paid apps cause it does not recognize my gmail account as the one that purchased it am i screwed or is there anything i can do? Also im afraid when 2.1 comes out i might lose my paid apps and will not be able to get them back! anyone?

I really like what I see from this phone, but I wonder how it handles multiple Gmail accounts. I have three Gmail accounts for different purposes. My iPhone 3G handles these with no problem. I don't see anything in the Hero manual that indicates that it will play well with multiple Gmail accounts.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI added some bookmarks to the Bookmark Widget that i don't want any longer, but i can't figure out how to delete them. I found another post about the G1 where it said to long press, but that only allows the whole widget to be removed and not individual bookmarks.
I've tried changing the name/link of the bookmarks and all that does is add another bookmark. Please help, now i have too many bookmarks i don't want.
I just got my phone 2 weeks ago and only used one scene I checked that I had a social,play etc scenes with alot of widgets and stuff on the phone. Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.
