Basically I want to set a different notification sound to each of my different email accounts that I have setup in the mail app (not the gmail one, but the one where you add IMAP accounts) I don't think it's possible since it seems like it should be a function of the mail app and not the system...but there's no place in the mail app to set a sound (that I can find).

1. Can someone post a walkthrough to get new ringtones onto the Sprint HTC Hero?
2. Can you get tones through Myxer still with the Hero?
3. Also is there a way to have different notification sounds for txt, emails and voicemails?
Update...figured out a much easier way...after I did some searching and figured out how to add the folders I started using phonezoo and just saving the files on my computer and then transfering that way. Also using Ringdroid works to create some from music already on my hero.
Has anyone found a good website for downloading Notification sounds? I know you can create your own with ringdroid etc...but I am lazy and I just want to DL some to my computer and trasfer them to my phone.

1st, On my previous phone (Windows Mobile) I had my gmail account set up so that my email is "pushed" to my phone. I thought that the android phones were automatically set up to do that, or do I have to do something to get this to work. I only ask because it seems to take a while to receive emails on my phone.
2nd, Before I got the phone I was reading up on the features, and a lot of the posts I read made it seem like I could access my google reader section, saved maps, sync bookmarks, and anything else I had with my google account. But, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. The most I have figured out on the maps is latitude, and nothing else with reader, bookmarks, etc.
I have the zedge app and downloaded ringers and message tones, but when I set them as my defaults, I still get the hero ringer/notification sound instead. How can I stop my phone from doing that so the zedge ringer and notification sounds I choose stay?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two accounts on my phone, G-mail & Comacast, I swear I was able to have two different notification sounds for them, but I can't figure out how to do it. If I click on mail and open it up I go to menu Button>more>settings>notifications but all I can do is either turn the notification on or off. I can't set an individual sound for each email acct.

Both email accounts are on gmail.
1. email account is personal. So notifications are ok from the morning to the evening.
2. email account is a work account. I don't want it notifiying me or making sounds unless it's mon-Fri 8am - 430pm.
I must have person emails from the personal email be able to make notification beeps durring the weekend days but I don't want the work email to cause notification sounds during the weekend.
I'm flexible to download email apps or configure. I flexible to have one email app for both accounts. Or 2 email apps , one per each account.
I'm dialing in my Droid 2, which is replacing my previous Blackberry Tour. I am importing all my audio files for ringtones, notifications, and alarms.
I have done the following:
Connected my phone to my computer
Mounted my SD card
Created a Media folder on the card
Created an Audio sub-folder within Media
Created Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms, and MP3s folders within Audio
My custom ringtones show up when I'm selecting them in Settings, and RingDroid also shows all of my files (currently placed in Ringtones and Notifications). However, if I go to my GMail app and settings, when I go to select a custom notification ringtone, only the ones that shipped with the Droid 2 show up. I also checked Settings, and no custom notification sounds come up.
I just swapped my htc hero last night with another one that had the "with google" logo on the back thinking it would let me get Rev.A but it turns out it was manufactured 9/26/09 and it still says Rev.0. Anyways, the first htc hero I had would instantly notify my of new Gmail email, sometimes even before Gmail inbox on my PC would get it, so it was instantaneous, but this new one has like a minute or 2 delay. Is anyone getting this? what are your delays like? Did I just swap my phone for a defective one? Someone please comment.

I am coming from a Pre, which had a very nice notification system. The new email notification would show the sender, subject, and number of new emails. You could then click to either go to the mailbox, or directly to the latest new email shown at your discretion.
I have set up both GMail through the GMail app, and an Exchange server through the Mail app, but the only notification I get is "New email" without specifics. Also, clicking won't bring me directly to the new email, but to the Inbox.
Does 2.1 get rid of the default notification? Can you choose a different/custom notification sound for the stock email app that isn't the default notification sound?

I keep reading that each app has a setting that allows one to select a unique sound, but I am not able to find this setting for the stock email app, or the voicemail app. The only options under email settings are:
Email notifications - ON or OFF
Notification sound - ON or OFF
Notification vibrate - ON or OFF
Under Voicemail settings, I see NO choices for notifications.
can you have separate sounds for email and txt messages? Currently seems to be lumped together.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just updated my phone to 2.1. Also I have two email accounts. One Gmail and one dslextreme account. It used to be that when I got email from one or both accounts I would get a little envelope in my notification bar. Dragging that down it would show me the email in the Gmail account and the dslextreme account. But now I have a third notification with the google M in it. If I click it it opens a "conversation" window with the email. I can respond to it and it works just fine. But if I click on the Gmail email I get the usual looking email format. Now the interesting thing is if I ignore the google M and go straight to the google email and deal with the email from there the google M conversation disappears. Thank you for bearing with me through that lengthly explanation but here is my question. How do I turn off this google M conversation? I don't want that third notification nor do I want that style of email delivered. I want to go back to the standard type of email delivery. It's coming to my phone alright but I don't want dual notifications. I remember when I was setting up this new OS that a box came up and I checked this google M not understanding what it was but I have looked through all my settings and can't figure out how to shut it off.

So the one of the first thing i did when i got my hero was to stop the htc message service n went to chomp sms, awesome app. anyway i wanna change the notification / message sounds to something not in the default list. basically i wanna crop a music file on my phone and have it as a message tone like u can and i have done with my ring tone. i was expecting for there to be an option to chose what i set the tone as.
what i mean is, when ive cropped a file you get an option to 'set as ring tone' or set as 'contact tone'. no option for notification sounds. ive also played about in the chomp settings and i can only get a list up for default sounds. am i just being stupid and dont know where to look, or do i serioulsy have to keep the crap htc sounds? ive got a peter griffin soundboard, if i click n hold on a sound it pops up with set a tone and notification, and i can set that as my sound but i dont want that, i wanna crop a music file.
Can anyone tell me how I can find out what is causing notification sounds?
My Hero will, at times, beep randomly, but leave nothing in the notifications bar. If I open a task manager I can see that HTC Checkin Service and Settings are the only things running. This process will repeat, whether I close the apps or not, and run the battery down.
Is there some kind of system log I can look at to find out what is causing this? It seems weird that the phone would make the sound but leave no evidence of a notification.
I absolutely cannot get text message notification sounds to work. At all. It stays on the stock sound. I can change it to any of the preloaded stock sounds and click ok but when I get a text it still plays the stock sound. I also tried using custom and that didnt work either. I have searched and searched and found nothing. And I am using the proper folder structure on the sd card for the customs. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Im getting very frustrated.
