Sprint HTC Hero :: Select And Delete Multiple Emails On Phone / Get Rid Of All Spam Mail?

Nov 1, 2009

I just upgraded from a five year old phone, so apologies in advance. The geeks at Best Buy set up my email for me which works fine (after multiple trips back to the store). Except that I can't figure out how to do a couple of things. 1. Is there a way to select and delete multiple emails on the phone and 2. How do I get rid of all my spam mail that comes in on the laptop (and gets filtered out there). Do I have to set up some kind of email push program so that the email comes in from my computer (already filtered) instead of from the server? You can see my learning curve is steep.........

Sprint HTC Hero :: Does The Mail App Keep The Phone Awake

Nov 25, 2009

alright, my dad's phone (post update) is at 100% awake time. it wasn't pre-update. my phone is also sitting at a higher awake time post update. i first thought the culprit was the mail app running more often. i have to force close it more frequently now. well, my dad complained about his battery again and i checked the awake time. 100%. he also asked me which programs were essential and i told him to kill the mail app. he said he keeps it open all the time cause he uses it all the time. sooo, now it is looking more to me like it is the mail app keeping the phone from sleeping.

Sprint HTC Hero :: How To Push Phone Numbers To Voice Mail?

Jan 10, 2010

I've had my Hero for about 4 months now, and other than the battery issue (I do use it a lot) I'm pretty satisfied. However since Thursday last week, I've had the SAME phone number call me, have someone jabber at me, and then hang up! I looked up the area code, and it's in Jamaica! Today has been the worst, I've had 5 calls from that same number. Frankly its really started to get annoying. I called Sprint, and asked customer care if they can block that number from the account. And they can't do that. Apparently blocking that number is an infringement on their rights. On my Hero, I've been able to find that I can just push all those calls from that number to my voice mail, but I can't block it from my line altogether. Anyone else having the same or similar issue that has come up with another option?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Delete Phone Bloatware Without Rooting?

Apr 26, 2010

Is there a way to remove some of the Sprint Bloatware without rooting the phone. I know some of those apps Sprint probably sold their soul to have on the phone but some of it is just trash. I'm not looking to clear up memory or any performance improvements. I just want to do some house cleaning of junk that I will NEVER use. I was hoping for maybe an unlock code or something simpler then the root/rom way to go. I'm very satisfied with the way things are working now but some of that garbage has got to go. I know junk is standard bill of fare on new computers but you can go through and systematically delete the garbage but I'm a little offended to have something that I bought and paid for and can't even clear out the junk and personalize it to my taste.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Sprint Picture Mail

Apr 15, 2010

I have not gotten my picture mail since The 1st of the month.I have gotten like 4 total that have slipped through. I have called Sprint like 8 times and was told it was a known problem with the HTC Hero. I asked if it possibly had anything to do with the 2.1 upgrade.I was told absolutely not! On the 7th, one operator told me that the upgrade was coming out on the 9th.On the 9th, no upgrade. So I called and was told that it was coming, but unsure when, but still unrelated.Called again this Monday, still a known unrelated issue. I was offered a service credit if $35.00. Called today and spoke with Operator Pamela. She told me that it is a known problem and would be fixed with the 2.1 update. She said it was suppose to come out on the 9th but got pushed to the end of the month.Keep checking sprint.com/download.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Venting Picture Mail

Mar 13, 2010

well i got my phone two months ago, after 1 week of having it my picture mail messages were not coming in, they would get the download, then "unsuccesful download." After dealing with Sprint they convinced me it was a problem on 1 in 4 phones and i had to give up my brand new phone for a stupid refurbished phone. It ended up working until now, around 1 1/2 months. This is not a Wifi Issue, i dont have it turned on, and i am aware of that problem. I have 90mb free on my phone, ive cleared all my caches, pulled battery, turned mobile network off and on. Over the last month i have been getting the download button but they would come through. I would then get a picture message from someone i didnt have a conversation open with, then i would open it and the message would dissapear. Well now today none are going through, its extremely frustrating and i dont want to tell my fanboy iPhone friends they have to email me pictures.

The one workaround to go to the website and view them would be fine if i could view them on my phone. I dont want to log into sprint to view NWS pictures at work.I can log on through my phone, but when going to messages nothing shows. up.I know about the wiping the phone, but that is hours of work getting all apps, setting up my custom scenes, adding all bookmarks, adding all my passwords in the password keeper, rooting, adding all my roms and kernels again.THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING.I love this phone except for this simple function it cant perform.

Sprint HTC Hero :: HTC Mail & IMAP Folders

Dec 14, 2009

New to this forum. Just bought my Hero the other day and am loving it! As a die-hard Apple fan who's stuck with Sprint, I'd say the Hero get's high marks in my book.Anyway, I'm a MobileMe subscriber and have all my various email addresses funneling down to my MobileMe account. I set up the Mail app to retrieve email from my MobileMe account via IMAP but am having a bit of trouble with the Sent and Trash folders. The Android Mail client is creating a secondary Sent and Trash folder even though "Sent" and "Trash" already exist in MobileMe. I noticed that there's also a Deleted Messages and Sent Messages folder as well in the Android Mail client.I tried out the K-9 Mail client which allows you to remap the folders (I remapped Sent to Sent Messages and Trash to Deleted Messages), but I'm not a big fan of K-9 and love how the default Mail app works.Does anyone know how I might be able to remap folders or get the Sent/Trash folder in the Android Mail client to map to the Sent/Trash folder in MobileMe?

Sprint HTC Hero :: HTC Mail With IMAP Server

Jan 28, 2010

I've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists. When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days. After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Mail App / Yahoo POP Account

Apr 15, 2010

I've searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem.I've been using the built-in Mail app on my Hero for the last month with my Yahoo e-mail account (it's a Plus account, using the POP settings provided by Yahoo)...with zero issues. Yesterday, I noticed that I wasn't receiving new messages anymore. I've got the program set to update every hour, and even when manually clicking refresh, the phone would not download any new e-mail messages from my account (and wouldn't send either). There were no error messages though, it appeared to be synced up (the time would show up next to the sync symbol in the top left corner of the app.I knew my settings were correct, so I figured I would just try to delete the account and set it up again. I selected "delete account" and after giving confirmation, the message on the screen said that it was deleting the account but it never finished. The program wouldn't do anything, figured I'd try to force it to close with my task killer but Mail didn't even show up as running. Next step...shut the phone down and powered it back on. Opened Mail up and the account was no longer showing, however there is still some memory of it somewhere as when I attempt to set it up again it tells me that there is already an account with that e-mail address.I can get around that by setting up a new account and changing one character in my address until all the settings are entered in (and then go back and change it), but I'd like to find out if I can address this problem head on (without a hard reset).
