just noticed that when i read my gmail from the phone, it doesn't mark it off as read when i check on the computer. also when i try to reply or send an email, it is just stuck there with a red "sending". anyone have any idea what is going on?

For some reason lately if I delete or show a email as read it doesn't sync that to my online gmail. There has been times when it shows 4 unread emails on the phone (even though everything is read) and when I log into gmail it shows the 4 unread emails even if it was ones I deleted. If I click on it, it takes me to the edit email account screen. When I go through the steps it says authentication failed even though my gmail account is fine. I don't know how to fix this. Also when I go to all programs I have 2 internet, 2 maps, and 2 navigator icons that weren't there before and won't delete.
View 11 Replies View RelatedFor the past 2-3 days I haven't gotten any notifications from my phone saying I have new emails.So I signed into gmail from my computer and I did have a couple messages.I went into "My Accounts" and clicked sync now and they started to come in.I don't know what happened or what I did, but is there any way I can get it to sync by itself like it did before without my having to go to "my accounts" and click on sync now.Now for the sending problem.My sister sent me an email, and I was trying to send a reply back from my droidx and all it does is get stuck on "Send." and it never sends out.I tried to reply to another person and the same thing happened.I don't know what to do.I just got all my customizations the way I like so I will try anything before a factory reset.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen sending emails from my Tiscali account via smtp.orange.net for months now, but suddenly it stopped working the other day. Now just says 'Unable to send mail' whenever I try.
I didn't touch the phone settings in between the last successful send and the first failed attempt, anyone got any ideas? Have tried the usual, like deleting/recreating the account, plus using different SMTP servers (orangehome.co.uk, 192. etc.) but all to no avail.
Updated to 2.1-update1 and everything is fine other than Gmail.
I can't send any emails at all, they just sit in the outbox saying "sending". If I long press on any of them, I get an error:

I can recieve emails with no problems. I've cleared the cache and data for Gmail, I've rebooted the phone countless times, restarted the gmail process etc etc
Why am I not able to send Picture messages? Every time I try to send a picture through text messaging, it says I cannot do it. Why? I downloaded Handcent App and I would love to use it, but When I do use it, I get text messages sent to the App I downloaded, and to the default text messaging that came with the hero. How can I make my text messages only send to Handcent SMS instead of Both? I'm new at having a cell phone that has so much you can do with it, so I will probably have tons of more questions, but these are the 2 questions that I would love to be figured out first and then eventually I will ask others when I have them.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHere's the deal - the Gmail app was working perfectly for me, but I wanted to use the HTC email client. I had my account set up on both, with 15 minute polling on the HTC client, and this worked fine. However, I wanted push email while using this client, so I set up Exchange activesync using m.google.com for my gmail account.
I noticed almost constant activity from the activsync, the phone got quite hot in a short time, and the battery drained at an amazing rate.
So I decided I didn't need ativesync, and I deleted the account. This is when the problem started. My gmail app now refuses to send out any email. When I try, it says "sending" in red, but it never does.
What are my options?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am realizing sometimes when I get new gmail, I don't get the notification even though notifications are set to ON and auto-sync ON. I check my gmail app and the new mail is there but it says Inbox(0), NOT Inbox(1) like it should be even though the new message is bolded in font like it should. Then when I delete the message it says Inbox(-1) This might be the reason I don't get a notification sometimes. Has anyone else encountered this?

BUT, when I send an MMS or even a simple text, I can't seem to send to email addresses that I had saved (I typically send to some phones and emails at the same time). I could do this with the stock app. Any ideas for me...I feel dizzy from looking through all the Handcent options and can't find anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I send camera shots via email using HTC's Mail application, the photos are not readable by most recipients (except, interestingly enough, by my wife on her blackberry). Same photos sent by the gmail app are fine. The photos appear as attachments, but they cannot be viewed and when the recipient tries to download, a jpg that is only a fraction of the total size is saved and that file is not viewable either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSince yesterday, I can't sync Gmail, I cant actually download from the market (although I can initiate), and I cant open Google Talk (it opens for a split second then closes, no force quit or error messages at all).I have searched for a solution all morning.I have tried going to google and google storage in applications and clearing cache/data to no help.I even went back to a nandroid from 2 weeks ago, no help there either.The only thing I have done is accidently change my password online from a PC.I changed it back 5 minutes later to the original (which is the one the phone uses).I am using Fresh 2.0D.PS yes I wiped when I went back to an old nandroid backup...Yes my sync settings are correct.

I am able to view them with K9 and the regular email app. I am running Fresh 2.0b2 I dont mind using K9 or the regular email app but they arent as cosmetically fine tuned as the gmail app. You would think that an Android powered phone wouldnt have this issue.

When 2.1 finishes, obviously I will lose everything. Will my contacts automatically show up on my hero once I set up my gmail account on the phone or is there more that I need to do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere is the deal, back in Jan when I finally got all my contacts sorted and edit after some issues with sync, I tuned off the Auto sync, with the idea that I would force a sync when I wanted to and I could watch what was going on.I have about 350-375 contacts in my phone currently. I want to play with some 2.1 roms so I need to get these synced to gmail so I dont loose them again. i can not get it to sync. I get :I have tried setting auto sync and still have an issue.
My friend and I have HTC Hero phones. I am with Sprint, she is with Cellular South (a carrier here in south Mississippi). We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. We have played with settings and Goggled this problem, to no avail. nothing works.

Anyone else having this problem and i have hard reset and checked all settings for data sync. I have not seen this problem so i am thinking it a software problem. When I set up my new (refurb) phone with my gmail account, I had tons of contacts in my phone that I had never seen before. The girl at sprint said it imports all of my email contacts, and it looked like they had added contacts from email addresses I had only emailed once, that werent even in my contacts group on my email. They ended up wiping my contacts and transferring them over from my old hero. She said I should create a new gmail account, and use it ONLY for syncing my contacts, that way I dont get all the other email contacts in my phone also. Im wondering how I do this, because I want to set it up before 2.1 comes out for the hero, so when I upgrade to 2.1, I wont have the same issue.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have tried to get to the bottom of this problem a few different ways, but haven't had any luck and haven't found it in any other threads. The issue is that after the 2.1 update my gmail will not sync to the phone. I have gone to Settings < Accounts & Sync < Google and found that Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar are all set to sync but while Contacts and Calendars have recent times for their latest sync Gmail is always the same. I have unchecked/rechecked the Sync Gmail toggle to get the sync going and the arrows spin but it never updates. I have also tried to refresh from the Gmail app itself with no luck and logged into a Wifi connection to see if it would work over something other than the mobile network still no luck. I have also rebooted several times with this seeming to work to resync Gmail only once and not in the last couple of tries. I do have Advanced Task Killer and have used it to close down a few programs including the browser. This never had any affect in 1.5 but just wanted to make sure a new problem couldn't have come from that.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just swapped my htc hero last night with another one that had the "with google" logo on the back thinking it would let me get Rev.A but it turns out it was manufactured 9/26/09 and it still says Rev.0. Anyways, the first htc hero I had would instantly notify my of new Gmail email, sometimes even before Gmail inbox on my PC would get it, so it was instantaneous, but this new one has like a minute or 2 delay. Is anyone getting this? what are your delays like? Did I just swap my phone for a defective one? Someone please comment.
