I decided to un-root my phone and upgrade to 026 firmware. Now tho, I seem to have "misplaced" my contacts "app/icon".
Anyone have any ideas how I can get this back into my app drawer? All my contacts are there, but no way to access them.

I used the default 'Notes' app in 1.6 to store lots of info (and my gf's xmas list!) and now in 2.1 it's empty.
I used the backup/restore and even ZIPped my SDCard separately in case of data loss but cannot work out how to retrieve my notes.
my contacts are missing after upgrade to 2.1.. i have restored but no contacts available...

I can search for names in messaging and everyone from my phone contacts, to my facebook friends and even Fearne cotton from twitter is there! I would like just my phone contacts visible in my phone book. I've tried to back up contacts from before the software update yesterday, and it takes ages to get through to 100% but the names are still missing.

I upgraded my X10 mini pro to Android 2.1 today and I followed the instructions and the YouTube video EXACTLY step by step.I made a back-up before the update, with the updated Back-up & restore app.Now the Android update is done and i've tried and tried but I can't get my contacts back. Every time I run the restore function of Back-up & restore it tells me the restore is done, but when I go to my contacts list, it's empty.

As suggested, I have taken the backup using the backup & restore app.
After, the phone got upgraded, I could find only facebook contacts in my list.
then i went to View options and played around with all the check boxes and i could view the contacts.
how ever, i could see each contact having the numbers multiple times inside it.
so, I deleted the contacts and tried to restore them again.
the restore was successful. i can see the contacts in my favorites list. when i dial/receive calls, i can still see the contact name.
but, the contacts are not being shown in the list. i know this is a weird problem.
I lost all my contacts after updating. It worked at the start but now it doesn't.
View 12 Replies View RelatedThinking of getting the Xperia X10 but waiting for 2.1 to come out first and see the response from this crowd (sorry for using you guys as guinea pigs. but all this talk about lack of MT but what will I truly be missing without it other than certain games. As an addition to that are there games out there that use don't use multitouch? I'm not looking for my Android to be a gaming device, I have my PS3 and my computer for that but I would like to play SOME games on it.
But, the main gist of this all is is the lack of MT really a problem? I know in this day and age, MT is taken for granted but yeah, is the phone severely crippling without it? I hope to be an Xperia X10 adopter soon.
EDIT: The title should be "what will I be missing without MT?" Damn you English! ;_;

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a x10 mini. Does anyone out there have a problem with the media player not displaying the album cover. Transfering the music is fine and it plays fine but most of the album artwork is missing. Only one album displays the cover art.Any ideas on how to fix this?
I just got the X10 not long ago. Literally only a week ago to be honest. I could have sworn I saw the playnow service on there when I first booted it up. I performed an update like I was told by my provider (Rogers here in Canada) and it said there were no new updates. But when I looked just the other day the Playnow icon is missing from the Application folder. which describes others loosing the Icon as well. I've walked through it and I'm not finding it.The last post suggests going to http://m.sonyericsson.com/sam-resetplaynow through the mobile browser on the phone. What I get is a message from the sony ericsson site stating that the page has been moved or no longer exists.Is there a way to get this service back without unlocking my phone? I'll unlock it if I have to, but I really hope its not necessary.

Now when I go to the market there are a lot of apps missing (both free and purchased) such as 3G Watchdog, Meridian, Gem Miner. Anyone else experienced this, have made sure my location is the UK but still they are nowhere to be found even when searching for them (can find the free Gem Miner but not the full paid for version).

Couple of days back I picked up the Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro at the Dubai Duty Free only to realise after I come home that there is no Android Market application installed on the phone! This is absolutely ridicious, why would I buy an android phone if I cannot access the marketplace? Also if this is the case, it should be clearly highlighted and not sold in places like duty free where you have visitors/travellers and not always the residents of that particular country purchasing the mobiles.

I flashed 2.1 rodgers firmare onto my x10a and when the phone boots I can see the icon for a few seconds then it deisapears!! Anyone else with the same problem? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two groups of contacts "MyContacts" and "Utilities". When I set up synching I selected to copy "All contacts".
Unfortunatey, when I look what's on my area on sonyericsson.com/wportal I see only the contacts from the group "MyContacts".
I.e. the site creates a false feeling of security - if I need to restore my phone from this site I will irrecovarebly lose lots of data.
I don't know is SE forgot to test their function or Android-hackers don't understand the features of the contacts.
All area of handling the contacts stinks seriously, and mkes you wander if the Android people ever used a mobile phone :
1. X10 does not accept contacts sent via SMS (VCARD-format), (or via MMS or bluetooth)
2. X10 does not sync with Outlook where most of business people have their contacts, and maintain them when receiving corporate mails etc.
3. The only way to get the contacts is to export from PC to a csv-file and import to gmail, and then sync to the phone. This is not that flexible due the export via csv. I.e. If I create cntacts in the phone they will not reach Outlook.
I am in the process of upgrading my Xperia x10 to Android 2.1. I followed the instructions to update to the latest version of Backup and Restore using the
application on m.sonyericsson.com/backup, and it installed properly.
However, when I create a new restore point, and proceed to actually backing up my phone, it runs a few seconds backing up contacts and then
switches to a screen that tells me "Could not back up".
I've tried restarting the phone. Any suggestions? My backups from before the update this morning have vanished as well.
Can anyone tell me how to get my SMS settings back to UK. I have been onto Locale/Text but nothing is happening! I have English letters but have Korean symbols to change text to numbers etc. and lost the bar above the letters giving me word suggestions etc. I have switched off, removed battery and sim but still reverts back. Have TP Korean Keyboard icon but cannot remove or manage application.

Iknow that i'm going to need to be able to do so when I get ready to flash it to 2.1 so I figured might as well get this figured out. View 9 Replies View RelatedIm about to do my first update and i really dont have a clue what im doing !! i downloaded the free MY back up yesterday .. saved apps and data to the sd card and started the download through the phone in the software update section in 'about phone' ...neway i ran out of time before i went to work and cancelled the update as it was taking AGES !
So i today , i go to resume the update , but check first that all my data is still in my back up ... and surprise surprise my 30 day free trial has ran out after less than 24 hrs ! ... thank god i checked !
Anyway ... what i really want to know is ... A) is it worth the updates .. any real benefit ? (bearing in mind im not very technically minded , clearly!)
B) If it is .. then what is the best, trusty free file manager ... that will store my apps , contacts , settings etc ... basically everything!

I need help with two things. Firstly, i'v lost my Sony ericcson logo that should go in the middle of the screen on the homepage (I don't want to use timescape; I don't like it) so i'd like to know how to get that back. Secondly iv somehow managed to change my keyboard into Japanese or Chinese (or some language with symbols) Iv still got letters but my smiley faces have turned all weird on me and the keyboard has shifted slightly to the left and I keep putting commas instead of using the space bar - very annoying.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSuddenly I got Chinese keyboard when typing email. managed to get it in english. Standard keyboard is set (and reset) as Swedish, but still the Chinese keyboard pops up (but in english). Haven't done anything special, more than activated Spotify the last days. So it looks like despite I have Swedish keyboard as standard, the phone suddenly choose chinese keyboard anyway. How can I make settings so the X10 choose standard keyboard as input?
