View 6 RepliesEvery time I click on the Avatar icon it says "File Not Found". It happened recently, I had it for two days and it worked fine.I was looking up this problem on the internet and someone said a reason why its not there anymore is because when I connected my Vibrant to my computer via USB, I didn't disconnect my phone from the computer "safely" which might have corrupted some files which pretty much sounds exactly like my situation. I have a solution idea though I don't know if it would work. My brother has a Vibrant as well. I thought maybe I copy his Avatar movie file to my phone and maybe it would work?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just noticed something in my Vibrant sd card file called "Lazy List".I have no idea where it came from and haven't noticed it before, but it can be found in both my 01 file, and my Astro file, and consists of a bunch of random thumbnails that when clicked on show a lot of gibberish writing. I am afraid to delete this file since I don't know what purpose it serves. I have never downloaded anything called that, nor have I ever seen any of the thumbnails before.Does anyone know anything about this "Lazy List"?

Is there even a video player on the SF? What file formats will it recognize? This is a very important feature to me and I'm surprised it isn't very intuitive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone know the movie stats of the .dcf file? Bitrate, codec, framerate, etc Mediainfo doesn't tell me anything about it, and I don't know of any other utility that might recognize it. Hmm...
I'm curious because I just compared (my wife's) Vibrant playing avatar.dcf with my (company's) iPhone4 using my custom 960x540 Avatar .m4v (which I made using the raw 44GB bluray .m2ts), and the Vibrant's .dcf just blew it out of the water. Both are tack-sharp, but it's like looking at 32-bit vs 16-bit color. When you look at the iPhone4 video by itself it looks great, until you see it next to a Vibrant, then you realize that some colors on the iPhone4 just don't reproduce with much accuracy. Then there's the contrast ratio... holy crap. Can you say "true black"? The Vibrant is amazing. The super AMOLED just seems to blow their LCD away... and their IPS LCD is more advanced than any TFT LCD to date, yet the Super AMOLED just kills it. Do yourself a favor if you just bought an Android phone with an LCD and DO NOT look at the Galaxy S line. You will have buyer's remorse.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to encode a new file (800x450 mp4) directly from the raw 44GB bluray .m2ts file to fit the native resolution of the Vibrant (800x480), then do a head-to-head comparo video. Both files will be in H.264 (AVS video converter v6.4) in the interest of keeping it a fair fight, but I fully expect the mp4 that I create to look even better than the included .dcf. If anyone's interested in the comparo I'll post the youtube link here in this thread, assuming my newbie status allows it.
My phone was rooted with the 2.2 firmware everything was working fine and yesterday by itself the phone shut off when i tried to boot it, stays in the samsung galaxy boot screen. I tried going into download by holding vol+home+power but it says POWER RESET or UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE. The phone is able to connect with my pc I tried flashing 2.2 Froyo with odin3 but its stuck at File analysis. Is there any way to fix this? I cant return the phone I bought it unlocked off ebay.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my Vibrant, I created a file called .nomedia with a view to place a ringtone file in it so that the ringtone file would not show in the music player library. However it has had the effect of hiding ALL my media files from my phone - non are accessible. When I mount (to a Mac) I cannot see a file named .nomedia and so cannot delete it, but all my media files are there. How to I get rid of the .nomedia file i cannot see?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIs there anything the Dalvik VM supports (in terms of bytecode) which is not used currently because the .class files don't have it?
As an example, if people would write their own Source-to-DX converter for their functional language XYZ, would they be able to implement e. g. full tail calls although the .class file does support tail calls only under certain circumstances?
While going through the Galaxy S manual I noticed that mkv video files were supported. I grabbed a backup copy I have of my Avatar Blu-Ray, in mkv format. I chopped it using a muxer to 1gb and transferred it to the phone. I don't remember which specific muxer I used, but it's so that I would t have to re-render the movie.I was floored by how gorgeous the movie looks on the 4' screen. Vibrant colors, no lag during playback and very good details. For some reason the audio is not working but my avi audio playback are nice, especially with the virtual 5.1.
I played with the tone controls and the brightness. By far this is my most impressive media moment with any smartphone. What is your most impressive media moment with the device, so far?my Droidx and Evo4g coworkers are jealous. I out performed them in benchmarks and the screen "vibrancy" wins by a mile.
I am new to this phone and so far so good.Working things out and getting it set up like I want it. I have two photograph widgets on one of my screens, one set up for newly taken pictures and one set up for newly shot video. The only problem is, I don't know how to change the default video save location. I am using the astro file manager and have seen that all videos and pictures save into a file named DCIM on my SD card. How do I change this to make it save pictures and videos into different files?I have made a different file for my videos and manually moved them into the folder but the phone is still saving new videos to the same old default place.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOk, so I may be leaving the USA soon. I plan on unlocking my phone and going out of the country with it. I don't know how long I may be gone.maybe years, so here are a few questions.
1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
I am writing an app that needs to be able to open (be associated in the browser download window for example) with a certain file type. The file type has .emx extension and is in an xml format (the top of the files have <?xml version='1.0' encoding="UTF-8"?> ). However, I can't for the life of me get my app associated with this filetype.

I have used various programs from HandBrake to Sony and I can get audio with no video (mp4). I can get audio with still image video (wmv). The galaxy s phones were made for high end games. I want to find and try all the high end games for android, so please post which games you found...Here are the high end games I've tried and what I think about them:
Asphalt HD from Gameloft. I really love this racing game. Its on par with racing games made for the psp. I hope they release an expansion pack with more cars/tracks/events. N.O.V.A from Gameloft. A pretty good fps. It kinda reminds me of halo. I wish there was more weapons and enemies/bosses. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft. A standard rpg. Im playing this right now. my thoughts so far is that its a pretty good rpg for a phone but pales in comparison to handheld console rpgs. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Hero of Sparta from gameloft. its a hack n slash game. this is the only game from the gameloft hd series that I didnt like so far. I havent tried the other 5 HD games from gameloft but I plan on doing so.
I really want to try all the high end games for android so please any games you have found
