View 3 RepliesI am new to this phone and so far so good.Working things out and getting it set up like I want it. I have two photograph widgets on one of my screens, one set up for newly taken pictures and one set up for newly shot video. The only problem is, I don't know how to change the default video save location. I am using the astro file manager and have seen that all videos and pictures save into a file named DCIM on my SD card. How do I change this to make it save pictures and videos into different files?I have made a different file for my videos and manually moved them into the folder but the phone is still saving new videos to the same old default place.

I love the solid build and the ability to customize the phone.
I love the physical keyboard but also having the option of a virtual keyboard.
I love the thousands of available apps.
I love having a video recorder and camera in one.
I love the AMOLED screen.
I just noticed something in my Vibrant sd card file called "Lazy List".I have no idea where it came from and haven't noticed it before, but it can be found in both my 01 file, and my Astro file, and consists of a bunch of random thumbnails that when clicked on show a lot of gibberish writing. I am afraid to delete this file since I don't know what purpose it serves. I have never downloaded anything called that, nor have I ever seen any of the thumbnails before.Does anyone know anything about this "Lazy List"?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is TouchWiz/OEM software getting in the way, or a limitation of Android 2.1, or what. But when I try to upload a video I've taken, it's forcing me to upload using WiFi. My 3G connection is not too bad (approx. 75 kilobytes/sec), so I wouldn't mind waiting a couple minutes for a video to upload, versus buying a WiFi AP for home, setting it up, taking up space and electricity, etc.

I was wondering if there was a great piece of software out there that could optimize video for this lovely screen. I heard samsung was in the process of making one for its "itunes" program but nothing else besides that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm just starting to use the video camera in my vibrant. Overall the video quality is excellent but sometimes when I'm doing indoor shooting, the video has an orange color overlay. Occasionally this will correct itself to a nice natural color part way through the video. I was wondering if this might be due to some automatic color adjustment that I'm not aware of. Has anyone else run into a similar issue?
The HD videos from the phone play very poorly (slow, jerky) on every media player I've tried on my Windows XP computer including VLC and WMP with updated codecs. Converting the .3gp files to .mpg or .wmv format produces a low quality video.
I am using the default voice recorder. Is it possible to configure that app so, from now on, it will automatically name new files "HelloWorld###" instead of the default file name "AUD###"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new g1 today and was reinstalling my apps. I noticed the video recorder app is no longer on the market. View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone know the movie stats of the .dcf file? Bitrate, codec, framerate, etc Mediainfo doesn't tell me anything about it, and I don't know of any other utility that might recognize it. Hmm...
I'm curious because I just compared (my wife's) Vibrant playing avatar.dcf with my (company's) iPhone4 using my custom 960x540 Avatar .m4v (which I made using the raw 44GB bluray .m2ts), and the Vibrant's .dcf just blew it out of the water. Both are tack-sharp, but it's like looking at 32-bit vs 16-bit color. When you look at the iPhone4 video by itself it looks great, until you see it next to a Vibrant, then you realize that some colors on the iPhone4 just don't reproduce with much accuracy. Then there's the contrast ratio... holy crap. Can you say "true black"? The Vibrant is amazing. The super AMOLED just seems to blow their LCD away... and their IPS LCD is more advanced than any TFT LCD to date, yet the Super AMOLED just kills it. Do yourself a favor if you just bought an Android phone with an LCD and DO NOT look at the Galaxy S line. You will have buyer's remorse.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to encode a new file (800x450 mp4) directly from the raw 44GB bluray .m2ts file to fit the native resolution of the Vibrant (800x480), then do a head-to-head comparo video. Both files will be in H.264 (AVS video converter v6.4) in the interest of keeping it a fair fight, but I fully expect the mp4 that I create to look even better than the included .dcf. If anyone's interested in the comparo I'll post the youtube link here in this thread, assuming my newbie status allows it.
So I recorded some videos yesterday, assuming it would record in 720p by default. However when uploading to YouTube, it would only allow up to 480, not giving the option of 720p playback.
Well today, I noticed different resolutions. Is 1280x720 the 720p resolution? If so, then I may have figured it out myself.
What kind of format is the .3pg the video recording is saved? Can zoom be enable for the video recorder?
View 2 Replies View RelatedA number of previous posts imply that attempts to apply bespoke image processing on a Camera preview are hamstrung by a buggy API and will in any event run extremely slowly due to the need to manually decode the preview buffer. Can anyone comment on whether it is possible to use the video recorder as an alternative means of achieving this?
