While deleting some videos, I accidentally deleted Avatar. I've researched this issue and have not come up with anything that would replace it besides going to Tmo and asking them to. I was wondering if someone from the forums here could allow me to recopy this file so I could get the movie back. I have searched all my files several times over, it's gone. All I have left is the trailer.

I'm curious because I just compared (my wife's) Vibrant playing avatar.dcf with my (company's) iPhone4 using my custom 960x540 Avatar .m4v (which I made using the raw 44GB bluray .m2ts), and the Vibrant's .dcf just blew it out of the water. Both are tack-sharp, but it's like looking at 32-bit vs 16-bit color. When you look at the iPhone4 video by itself it looks great, until you see it next to a Vibrant, then you realize that some colors on the iPhone4 just don't reproduce with much accuracy. Then there's the contrast ratio... holy crap. Can you say "true black"? The Vibrant is amazing. The super AMOLED just seems to blow their LCD away... and their IPS LCD is more advanced than any TFT LCD to date, yet the Super AMOLED just kills it. Do yourself a favor if you just bought an Android phone with an LCD and DO NOT look at the Galaxy S line. You will have buyer's remorse.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to encode a new file (800x450 mp4) directly from the raw 44GB bluray .m2ts file to fit the native resolution of the Vibrant (800x480), then do a head-to-head comparo video. Both files will be in H.264 (AVS video converter v6.4) in the interest of keeping it a fair fight, but I fully expect the mp4 that I create to look even better than the included .dcf. If anyone's interested in the comparo I'll post the youtube link here in this thread, assuming my newbie status allows it.
So I just got my vibrant but now for some reason the movie that comes on here tells me file not found when I tap on the icon. Also the samsung kies app tells me it cannot connect to the model information server.Is there any way to restore the movie back?

Works fine but the file size is like 1.5GB, does anyone know if there is a way to make the file smaller? I'm not hugely concerned that the quality is the best, but hopefully not too pixally, I just want something to watch while I'm at the gym.
I spent some time cleaning off stock HTC apps (Facebook.apk, HTC Facebook and Friend Stream included), but now all my contacts under People are no longer linked to any Facebook accounts. If I go to the Global tab, there is no option to refresh Facebook friends list. I've tried re-installing Facebook for Android, and I've also tried downloading the Facebook.apk and adding it back into /system/app. Really, all I want ot do is sync Facebook with my phone contacts to pull in pics and birthdays, I don't care about Friend Stream or HTC's stock FB app. Anyone know what to do?

So now the screen is just black, I can't access anything and it keeps coming up with "systemUI has stopped responding".
I tried downloading Huawei's official firmware from their website, and flashed the device, but whilst installing it said "update error" and wouldn't install it.
i accidentaly deleted the lib folder in system and i did not make any backup and now my Note 2 is stuck in a boot loop. When i tried to flash stock 4.1.2 it failed in the odin and on the phone it said unsuported version.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm def a rookie when it comes to all of this technical stuff. Look, don't judge me, I just wanted to delete all the bloatware on my device. Mission accomplished.Except for the fact that I deleted the original messaging software that came with the phone using Titanium Backup. (Which didnt back it up!) Everything was working well (I use Chomp SMS) except i havent gotten any texts all day and no one has been responding to mine. Which, btw, they do recieve, I just haven't been recieving anybodies texts. Can somebody help a brotha out?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got ballsy and since T-Mo is sending me a new phone since this one is Hardware locked and I can't get into ODIN, I opened up mini Kies and got the new firmware. All it did was re-install all the bloat I deleted before and got rid of root.
I don't know if this is universal or I got lucky, but it worked. It hung on the Galaxy S screen for about a minute, but after that it's awesome.
I see 12 Sats indoors and I connect to 7. Outside I see 13 and I connect to 11.
Vibrant is the best phone I've ever owned after this GPS update.
In a nut shell, when the app is loaded, it will play a short movie (maybe a few seconds at most @ 12-24fps). I will then have 2 buttons displayed on the screen, and depending on what button is pressed, it I will play another short movie (5-10 seconds). While waiting for the user to make a decision, the movie will be looping.
The movie source is stop-motion photography so it's already chopped up into frames. My question here is if I should use a Frame Animation technique, or if I should use a Movie player for this. All in all perhaps there's less than 100 still frames that make up the stop-motion. I was going to go the Frame Animation route, but I wasn't sure if having so many individual frames would kill the app so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any insight.
Is there a movie player that will play the movie in full screen capacity instead of wide screen or only a small part of the screen?

1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
I've searched for a way to do this, haven't found anything yet. Any tips? I'd like to be able to have a shortcut for direct camera or camcorder.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDay 10 new epic 4g high expectations that I just bought a smartphone that'll allow me to make HD videos with stunning digital sound as it turns out with sadly PQ (poor quality) sound. There are no recording level adjustments possible and no audio level metering which may have helped. Forget about amplified concerts I tried, Video looked awesome audio nothing but distortion from 20th row center stage or 100 rows back. 2nd attempt a vocalist playing grand piano with minimal amplification for voice, trust me the concert sound was well balanced and I was 20 feet away from performer, an easy task for the cheapest digital recorders out there. Camcorder fails again. Horrible choppy/stuttery sound. If I had hit the share to youtube button without first reviewing, I'd have uploaded a disservice to the artist.....

Asphalt HD from Gameloft. I really love this racing game. Its on par with racing games made for the psp. I hope they release an expansion pack with more cars/tracks/events. N.O.V.A from Gameloft. A pretty good fps. It kinda reminds me of halo. I wish there was more weapons and enemies/bosses. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft. A standard rpg. Im playing this right now. my thoughts so far is that its a pretty good rpg for a phone but pales in comparison to handheld console rpgs. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Hero of Sparta from gameloft. its a hack n slash game. this is the only game from the gameloft hd series that I didnt like so far. I havent tried the other 5 HD games from gameloft but I plan on doing so.

where the elusive camcorder icon is in the 2.1 factory build from Sprint?I moved the icon from the third screen to the tray and it is GONE not in widgets nuttin, nada zilch.However.The camera icon is there and I can switch to camcorder just fine once launched but this is really driving my OCD into overdrive.There is mention of a camcorder image in the camera.apk manifest without specifying a specific file or location.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was really hoping to save 55% off the cost of the Tmobile Gel Case but alas it was not to be. When my wife saw the case installed on the phone she said "what the heck?" That's because the case fits the Vibrant unevenly. And it doesn't wrap around the bezel fully.
Here is my review:
The Amzer "Silicone Skin Case" is completely unacceptable to me in terms of fit, feel and function. The Vibrant is a top of the line, expensive and amazing device deserving of quality accessories. This case is basically junk and not commensurate with the quality or value of the Vibrant.
First the fit: It slides onto the Vibrant easily enough (too easily in fact - it feels like it might fall off) and the cutouts are all lined up with the camera, USB, etc. However, the case barely fits around the bezel and it fits the face of the phone unevenly so you can see the bezel on one side but not the other side. The last point about the fit is that the phone feels like it could pop out of the case if you squeezed the sides; this is a very unsettling feeling. A case should make you feel more secure not less and it shouldn't detract from the quality appearance of this device.
Second, the feel: The case feels much too thin along the sides, the corners feel nice and thick as they should be to protect the phone. The sides however offer little in the way of protection. It just feels cheap and not nearly thick enough to offer much protection.
Third, the function: I bought a case to protect the phone from damage in the event it is dropped. I want protection around the bezel and the sides and back of the phone. The Amzer case only seems to protect the Vibrant on the corners where this case is thicker. I feel like if I dropped the phone and it landed on the side there would be little to prevent the phone from being damaged.
Needless to say I was disappointed when I tried the Amzer on my Vibrant this afternoon. So much so that I immediately called Amazon to arrange for its return. I have the Gel Case from Tmobile which by comparison is vastly superior although 55% more in price.
In this case you get what you pay for. And I do not want to skimp on protection a device as valuable as the Vibrant. Let's see, save $6 on a case for a $500 phone? No way, not when it's ugly when installed, feels cheap and insecure in the hand, and offers less protection. The Tmobile case fits snugly, wraps evenly around the bezel, is thicker to better protect the phone in the event of an impact.
I give this case 1 out 5 stars. The Tmobile Gel Case gets 4.5 stars.

For how long who knows, the behold 2 has been going on for years, but tmo, nor anyone really cared about that phone
Is there any way that I can create backups for the vibrant that work without installing and reinstalling the voodoo lag fix everytime? I know that clockwork recovery doesn't work with voodoo installed, and messes up my phone if I try it.
