Aug 28, 2010I've searched for a way to do this, haven't found anything yet. Any tips? I'd like to be able to have a shortcut for direct camera or camcorder.

Sep 30, 2010i loaded launcher pro & love it. On my dock I have: Phone, Market, App Drawer, Google Voice, & Browser. I installed a different browser - dolphin - then assigned it to my browser shortcut. I didn't really care for it so I uninstalled it. However, I can't change the shortcut in LP to my original browser. When I bring up shortcuts, there's not a listing for it.

Oct 15, 2010Day 10 new epic 4g high expectations that I just bought a smartphone that'll allow me to make HD videos with stunning digital sound as it turns out with sadly PQ (poor quality) sound. There are no recording level adjustments possible and no audio level metering which may have helped. Forget about amplified concerts I tried, Video looked awesome audio nothing but distortion from 20th row center stage or 100 rows back. 2nd attempt a vocalist playing grand piano with minimal amplification for voice, trust me the concert sound was well balanced and I was 20 feet away from performer, an easy task for the cheapest digital recorders out there. Camcorder fails again. Horrible choppy/stuttery sound. If I had hit the share to youtube button without first reviewing, I'd have uploaded a disservice to the artist.....

Jun 9, 2010where the elusive camcorder icon is in the 2.1 factory build from Sprint?I moved the icon from the third screen to the tray and it is GONE not in widgets nuttin, nada zilch.However.The camera icon is there and I can switch to camcorder just fine once launched but this is really driving my OCD into overdrive.There is mention of a camcorder image in the camera.apk manifest without specifying a specific file or location.

Nov 29, 2010I have had my Epic for 10 days now and have swapped it once for this problem. If I power off the phone to save battery life or change battery, when I power up again the app and contact shortcuts I had placed on the home/extended pages have disappeared (the widgets are still there). The apps and data are still there in the apps folder, but it is a pain having to pull my most commonly used ones back to the home pages each time I restart the phone. Sprint tech have remotely rebooted the phones and we have taken both phones back to factory settings several times but the problem always recurs. As I have now had 2 phones with the same problem I am presuming it is a software glitch. Sprint have been less than helpful to date, other than basic resets and changing the phone. Has anyone else had this issue?

Jul 2, 2010I'm now using the 1.6 OEM thanks to the users in this community! But only for another few weeks before I ditch this phone. I'm planning on sticking with TWiz, and since I've never actually used it, I'm curious if anyone can help with some tips. 1. The icon shortcut layout is annoying. I don't like how they won't snap to a grid, and can overlap and be all over the place. Is there a way to change this? 2. That silly Quick List? Is that just another useless app window with recently used apps, or can it be edited to list apps I want in there? I'm not looking for home replacement apps because I've tried them all, and I'm just looking to get by for the next few weeks.

May 3, 2010I've found some other threads discussing the fact that the default shortcut for Facebook is actually just a shortcut to a browser bookmark for Facebook. If you delete this shortcut, you can re-create it, but it has a boring red flag icon. With a custom bookmark app, you could restore this original icon... but only if you know where to find it. Where is that icon stored? It has to be somewhere on the root of the phone. Using root explorer, I can't find it. I'm guessing it's stored inside of an archive somewhere. Any ways to search more thoroughly?
Related: can I somehow use my PC (Windows explorer) to browse the root of the phone?
Or, can I find it somewhere in the original .tar file containing the flash update for the phone?
(running rooted 2.1 DD10, FWIW).

Dec 26, 2013I just factory reset my sisters Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and have a little shortcut problem.
It seems no matter how I try i cannot make a shortcut to the Applications category.
If i press and hold the home screen i can add widgets/shortcuts to specific applications but I would like to create a shortcut for the whole 'Apps' category since it is not there.

I am trying to add contacts on my desktop that I would like 1-touch access to but the only way to add a contact is using the shortcut to contact. Clicking on that opens up the contact details and then I have to click on the number I want to call and select call or message. Is there any way to add a particular number for a particular contact directly onto the home screen? I know that the MT3G used to have a shortcut to direct dial option. I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

Aug 27, 2010I have an unlocked captivate. I have a German T-D1 pay-as-you-go sim that I've used many times in unlocked GPS phones. Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. This will also answer my question about whether using the Captivate for navigation in the US needs a data plan to work.
