My husband and I have moments. We both text quite a bit and for some reason, on his phone when you start typing a name in the "to" field of the text message, it does not give the option of choosing from matching contacts. But mine does. Is there a setting that I need to change? Anyone having the same issue?

It happened 2 times already. I open the slide out keyboard and start typing an email, some letters (like C) does not type so I try a few times clicking the key and it types. then when I hit A the entire text is highlighted and the next character that I type replaces the highlighted text. You can imagine how annoying this can be. I thought I must have done something wrong and examined that the fn key was not pressed (cycled through it by pressing fn 3 times). No luck. I tried the same thing in 5 min and it all worked fine. I am baffled.

Some people said I should get handcent instead but it seems kind of redundant having two apps. what do you think? any input on the subject is welcome and thank you in advance for your time.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmaybe it's because I'm spoiled with my Hero. My wife just got the moment and I really dislike the SMS UI. Its all black, and just says ME: Other Persons name: no avatar etc. Anyone know if theres a way to show the contacts avatar/image just like the Hero? I hate to install handcent for functionality that basically already exists by default. I Know it doesnt have popup's etc like handcent, but unless theres another app out there? I just hate to install app after app taking up memory.

I see the Intercept does, but the Moment seemed like a nicer phone (better screen, more responsive). I know the Moment is EOL, but for my daughter's purposes I'm not worried about this. If it doesn't do chat style texting, is there an app/widget that allows this on the Moment?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my phone set to display only numbers on the SIM (or only on the phone.. doesn't really matter) so that in the contacts app and the contacts section of the phone app I don't have duplicates of everything. However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's clear I'm not alone, when it comes to the loss of network comms on my Moment. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I have to get used to power-cycling the phone when things go bad, and hope against hope that 2.1 is our miracle cure.
But I'm looking for a quicker way to restart my phone, instead of doing the off/on thing. When the phone stops being a phone, the process "com.samsung.internal" has likely crashed. I found where I can force-stop that application (and just about anything else), but I haven't seen where it's stored, in an attempt to manually start it. Can it be done? If so, how?
Is any one else used Droid explorer? I used it earlier to remove stock apps and to change my gallery, back when I used the leaked version of 2.1 with v5 from sdx. Now I have DE03 Vanilla Rom though and when ever I try to open up droid explorer it just crashes on start up. Oh yea and I have windows 7. Is anyone else who uses droid explorer have this problem.

I can send pictures just fine, but when I receive them, the picture doesn't pop up in the text conversation like normal, it leaves a link to "download" the image. I click download and an error message pops up stating that the process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly and shuts down.

My audio stops working all the sudden out of the blue. Ring, text alert, etc. just stops. the only way I can get it to start again is rebooting. Anyone else having this issue? Can i fix it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my Samsung Moment, a lot of times when someone is calling me, the phone will start vibrating or ringing as it should but the screen does not turn on showing the caller id until 4 or 5 rings, if at all. It makes answering calls before it goes to voicemail difficult.
Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
Just got my moment rooted with 2.1 installed. I now want to start deleting programs like moxier and sprint tv. Is there any step by step write up on how to do this?

For some reason, using the regular browser, I can't get google.com to open up in English. I think it's opening in French.
Google appears to know that I'm located in Kansas. I believe I've tried about everything I can think of with regard to browser settings, google's settings... tried to clear all the history, cookies, cache... performed "reset to default"... every time I go to Google it comes up in French. There's a link, of course, to get it in English. But it's infuriating that it won't just come up in English.
Anybody had something like this? Alternatively, anybody have thoughts on why it might be happening?
I've not installed many apps. Skreebl, Handcent, a date widget and a battery widget are all I've got going right now. I'm thinking that a complete "Factory data reset" is in order, but I'd hate to lose the stuff on my SD card (mp3s, wallpapers). I have not researched - those things may not be affected by a Factory data reset.
All these default Android ringers are too singy-songy or musical. I miss the ringers my old flip phones had that, you know, sounded like a phone ringing. Anyone know where I can find, say, a Samsung or Sanyo ringer pack? Or a bunch of standard cell phone ringers? I've searched the android market and several apps therein and can't find what i'm looking for.

I never rooted the phone and had no problems up till now Yes I turned off power and removed the battery to reset..

I can't find it in the marketplace. Not when I search for "Kobo," not when I search for "e-reader" or "ereader." And way too much comes up when I search for "e-book" or "ebook" (tons of individual ebooks come up).
Some other users of Android Forum have posted comments about the Kobo eReader, but I just can't seem to locate it.
Is it possible to add birthday information to a contact. Finally something other than a 2.1 thread.

I recently installed a (paid) homescreen app called GDE from a guy at XDA developers. It's wonderful, and gives me a choice of the number of homescreens, transition type, and whether the sequence of screens loops or not (appears endless) It works well and is very smooth. I use the box transitions and it's very impressive.
Back to the icons, which will be of interest to anyone who replaces their homescreen app. When I installed GDE, I was basically given 5 blank homescreens. All my shortcuts were gone and had to be re-installed.
Not so bad, because it gave me a chance to re-organize my device. But, I couldn't find my CNN, ESPN, Facebook icons. That's when I started this post, because I thought they were apps, they are not, they are browser favorite shortcuts on the homescreen.
So, if any of you replace your home app and want to restore these, just open your browser, go to favorites, and long hold on the shortcuts you want to install on home.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI like how contact shortcuts are done in Android 2.1, where you click on the contact shortcut and a quick menu showing phone, contact card, SMS and email are shown. I also like how when you click one of those items, you get to choose, for example, Text Home or Text Mobile. What I seem to be noticing, though, is that if I check the box that says, "Do this action by default" or whatever it is, then it does things by default for all of those actions. For example, if I check that box when I select "Text Mobile," because, really, I'm never ever ever ever going to text someone at home, then I go and select the call icon, rather than asking me if I want to Call Home or Call Mobile, it just calls (in this case, mobile). Anyone know how I can straighten this out and have my "default" only affect the one action?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to add a pause to a contact #.For instance I want to use google voice, have it dial my GV#, then pause, then enter 2, then my contact # to dial out.Unfortunately I've not figured out how to program in the pause. On my centro it was easy, just use "p" for pause. So I enter this "gv #, p, 2, p, contact #" and it worked fine. Have not figured out how to do this on the moment as "p" doesn't work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo i have had the Moment (on Sprint) for a while now, and there is one problem i can't seem to fix. The phone seems to constantly drop the area code off of ALMOST all messages I recieve from just one specific contact. So when I go to reply to that person, i get a 9230 error (not using a ten digit number) and i have to go to my contacts screen and choose to send a new message from there. Anyone have any ideas to fix? I have tried clearing the cache and using a different SMS software, all with the same problem.
