When i am sending a message I cant see any of my contacts, any reason for this. Currently I have to go to phone/contacts/pick one person and send single messages at a time. Any way to get my contacts into the messaging search?

Ive read about the htc hero and how it had or still may have the battery problem, while using the messaging app. I was wondering if the samsung moment had the same issue or if its non existent. Some people said I should get handcent instead but it seems kind of redundant having two apps. what do you think? any input on the subject is welcome and thank you in advance for your time.
View 17 Replies View Relatedmaybe it's because I'm spoiled with my Hero. My wife just got the moment and I really dislike the SMS UI. Its all black, and just says ME: Other Persons name: no avatar etc. Anyone know if theres a way to show the contacts avatar/image just like the Hero? I hate to install handcent for functionality that basically already exists by default. I Know it doesnt have popup's etc like handcent, but unless theres another app out there? I just hate to install app after app taking up memory.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was comparing the Moment with the Intercept (for my daughter) and wondered whether the Moment had chat style messaging or not. I see the Intercept does, but the Moment seemed like a nicer phone (better screen, more responsive). I know the Moment is EOL, but for my daughter's purposes I'm not worried about this. If it doesn't do chat style texting, is there an app/widget that allows this on the Moment?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

We both text quite a bit and for some reason, on his phone when you start typing a name in the "to" field of the text message, it does not give the option of choosing from matching contacts. But mine does. Is there a setting that I need to change? Anyone having the same issue?

I can send pictures just fine, but when I receive them, the picture doesn't pop up in the text conversation like normal, it leaves a link to "download" the image. I click download and an error message pops up stating that the process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly and shuts down.

I was able to fix this on the contacts page because there is an option on what to show but when I go from messaging/compose/contacts, it still shows two of each. Anyone know how to fix this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have my phone set to display only numbers on the SIM (or only on the phone.. doesn't really matter) so that in the contacts app and the contacts section of the phone app I don't have duplicates of everything. However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

The feature i like best is that it links with facebook and pulls over the photo and the birthday. Is there one like that which can be put on the Moment?

I'm pretty smart when it comes to phones and computers...but wow. It was overwhelming just for me, so imagine how she feels!
We just got her the phone yesterday and got it working, but I had to do a factory restore with sprint to get google going. The guy was really cool and helpful.
So this morning I got a text after she took the girls to school and she was heading to work that all her contacts we're gone. I've read on other posts to put all other contacts checked and it should be fine. So hopefully it works. Is there a way to save contacts to the mirco SD card at all? I'm just trying to look for better solutions. I see a lot of the same problems on here that I'm having. I don't know where to start. I've dabbed around with linux (mainly ubuntu) but that was 4 years ago and my linux memory has fried. Rooting her phone my be dangerous for me to do.
I need help. I am trying to move the contacts from my Samsung Moment, and according to the mfg., because of the Android OS, here is what is said: "on the android phone, go to the address book, under option or export - export them to the phone SD card (or import to phone) and then the car can pull them with no drama - the car wants stuff off the internal phone card, not the android address book...I just did this today So, I'm a complete techno noob, can someone tell me how to do this on my Samsung Moment.

I just switched from a B-Berry and I had notes, or business names, tags or whatever with certain business contacts and I could find them by searching for that word, but this phone will not. Example a person who I could not remember his name, but he was a roofer, I could search for roof and find him.. also, the B-Berry would also pull up both peoples 1st and last names if they were the same eg a search for martin would pull up a person whose 1st name is Martin as well as anyone whose last name is Martin. I really liked this function, it was the same on an old Palm PDA that I had too...

View 1 Replies View RelatedEveryone I see who has the Motorola Droid has there Contacts linked to Facebook by default it seems. On the my Moment it doesn't do this. I figured it was because I was running 1.5 and the droid had 2.0.
I've updated to 2.1 and still Facebook doesn't sync at all for the Moment. Does the Moment not do this for some reason? Only Verizon network? Kinda confusing that the Facebook app doesn't do the same thing. I have tried going to Accounts and Sync and tried adding Facebook as new account but nothing happens. Once you click on Facebook it kicks you back to the previous screen.
I also installed SyncMyPix but not really what I wanted and Synced a lot of them incorrectly.
Anyone know a way to sync this?
I am a new Moment user. I transfered all my contacts info (phone numbers, emails, etc.) from my old phone to the Moment. When I go to add a new contact directly into the Moment, it doesn't display in the contacts. Is there a setting that I must check to allow input directly on the phone?
