Is there a way to have typing (click type) sounds on the physical keyboard? I found the settings for soft keyboard, but can't seem to find the ones for hardware keyboard.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen opening the physical keyboard, the phone first comes out of sleep, and then switches from portrait to landscape. This is typically not too noticeable, but sometimes it takes up to 5 seconds. Is there a way to make it so that opening the keyboard just resumes this phone already in landscape? Also, has anyone figured out a way to get the home screen to respect switching to landscape when rotated, like all well-developed apps do?

When texting using my physical keyboard the phone inserts spaces or @ signs after letters that I type that are not the word I meant to spell. Sometimes what results is not even a word. I tried disabling the auto completion feature but it still happens. Has anyone else seen this and is there a fix?

I open the slide out keyboard and start typing an email, some letters (like C) does not type so I try a few times clicking the key and it types. then when I hit A the entire text is highlighted and the next character that I type replaces the highlighted text. You can imagine how annoying this can be. I thought I must have done something wrong and examined that the fn key was not pressed (cycled through it by pressing fn 3 times). No luck. I tried the same thing in 5 min and it all worked fine. I am baffled.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the sound doesn't work for my text when I type or swype. I've turned on ALL sounds possible. (It still vibrates.) I can hear all the other sound effects and can hear the typing if I switch to Android Keyboard. But I like Swype!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm eying the Vibrant as my first Android phone (yep, starting at the top), coming from a long line of Palm OS devices culminating with a Treo 680. So far I like most of what I see, with two caveats: The lack of camera flash (I've not had one before, but with a 5 MP camera it seems a waste to not have one) and the lack of a physical keyboard.
I've yet to meet an on-screen keyboard I liked, but I've not tried a 4" screen before. Any first impressions, especially from people used to physical keyboards? Good, bad, ugly? Honestly that's the main thing I'm worried about.
The keys work fine, but certain ones make a clicky or crackly sound (typically after not been used for a moment, then they're fine after being pushed). There is also a strange feeling to them to go along with the sound.

But in some programs I use (e.g. Tasker / Jotro) the swype keyboard pops up when I click a text field (as it should), but if I'm done, sometimes it shows a "done" button on the swype keyboard itself (and when I click on that, the swype keyboard dissappears), but sometimes, there isn't a done key on the keyboard (only an enter key which gives a new line in the text field I'm editing) and I can't scroll in the program to the save/done button in the program itself to save what I just typed. Does someone know whether there is a quick way to get rid of the Swype keyboard after I finished typing?
My (frustrating workaround) is to go to Swype options, press back, and the swype keyboard is gone.
Is anyone else finding that their keyboard lags when typing moderately quickly? I am using the Android keyboard and for the life of me I can not type "might" without it hiccuping and only getting "miht", "miht", "miht".
I've turned off the suggestion bar, auto-completion, and system sound...but still the keyboard is awful. It has been the same way with both of the Captivates that I've had.
My husband and I have moments. We both text quite a bit and for some reason, on his phone when you start typing a name in the "to" field of the text message, it does not give the option of choosing from matching contacts. But mine does. Is there a setting that I need to change? Anyone having the same issue?

Someone claimed it worked on their Moment, but the two I've tried (one at Sprint, one at Best Buy) do not do it. I have searched through the settings menus and the owner's manual and have not found a way to enable this feature. Any suggestions? This is a deal-breaker as I need to be able to type both English and French. I need it to work both on-screen and with hardware keyboard.

I've now had and used my Samsung Moment for a full month now, and I have to say this is the best phone I have ever used.
I carry multiple smartphones on me, usually a Blackberry of some sort, Palm Treos / Centros, iPhone, and now my Samsung Moment. While all the smartphones are really good, the Samsung Moment has been really great.
Despite all the complaints you read here, I have only had a couple of minor annoyances:
1. The Google Calendar widget doesn't default to the current day when you click on it. I have accidentally entered appointments for "today" when I realize a bit later that it was on another day that I had scrolled to previously. I hope there will be a setting to always display the current day in the future.
2. I use Astrid to sync my to do list with Remember The Milk. Anytime I add a new task if I'm using the physical keyboard, and slide it shut and go to the portrait mode for the virtual keyboard, somehow my text is wiped clean and I have to start from scratch again.
The battery life is excellent. Based on my moderate use, I easily get 2-3 days out of my phone, which is as good as my Palm Centro or my Blackberries.So glad I have this phone, can't wait for future updates though to play with.
I was just wondering, how everyone does without a physical keyboard on the Incredible. I am really interested in this phone but I am hesitant because it only has the virtual keyboard. I have had the storm and also the lg dare and sold them because I just couldn't get used to not having a physical keyboard. I just wanted to know if anyone else felt that way and got it anyways and how it's working for you.

My wife is trying to decide between getting a Droid herself or a Nexus. I know there are good reasons for and against, but this feature seems to be the fork in the road for her right now.
