Samsung Moment :: Picture Messaging - When Receive - Doesn't Pop Up In Text Conversation Like Normal
Aug 2, 2010I have the Moment with android and have had no problems with picture messaging until last week. I can send pictures just fine, but when I receive them, the picture doesn't pop up in the text conversation like normal, it leaves a link to "download" the image. I click download and an error message pops up stating that the process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly and shuts down.

Apr 10, 2010I've been racking my brain (android newbie here, so not hard to do) for awhile trying to figure out how to accomplish this: Desired Layout using a Relative Layout or something other than AbsoluteLayout which is what this was created with. I'm coming from a Windows programming background where the device adjusts the 'absolute' positioning for you and GUI layout was a non-issue.The first layout works great in the emulator, but doesn't format for my Nexus One or any other screen that differs from the emulator size. I expected this because it's absolutely positioned, but haven't found a solution that will format correctly for different screen sizes. My goal is to have the layout work for different screen sizes and in portrait / landscape. Here's the Code that I'm currently using: [main.xml]

I have handcent, but get the same error message with stock messaging app.
The only things I could find within the incredible forums was that it may be linked to a app bug, which that specific app I have never used, or this is a known HTC error which I can't confirm.

Apr 29, 2010Today i tried to do something that i used to do back in my Alias 2 days (regular cellphone), but couldn't.
Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone...
I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it.
Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot.
I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big

Nov 5, 2009Ive read about the htc hero and how it had or still may have the battery problem, while using the messaging app. I was wondering if the samsung moment had the same issue or if its non existent. Some people said I should get handcent instead but it seems kind of redundant having two apps. what do you think? any input on the subject is welcome and thank you in advance for your time.

Dec 17, 2009maybe it's because I'm spoiled with my Hero. My wife just got the moment and I really dislike the SMS UI. Its all black, and just says ME: Other Persons name: no avatar etc. Anyone know if theres a way to show the contacts avatar/image just like the Hero? I hate to install handcent for functionality that basically already exists by default. I Know it doesnt have popup's etc like handcent, but unless theres another app out there? I just hate to install app after app taking up memory.

Sep 12, 2010I have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

Aug 27, 2010This may not be the best place for this, but I'm hoping someone else here has seen this. The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

Apr 30, 2010My phone has the rooted 2.1 dd10 version or whichever and I am not receiving picture/video messages. I called Sprint and they said I was "in the red." We tried everything over the phone to try to get around the issue without having to reflash. Any other ideas? I tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes, changing the MSID number.The MSID number won't stay.It goes back to 0000000. Any other ideas or is reflashing the way to go?
