All these default Android ringers are too singy-songy or musical. I miss the ringers my old flip phones had that, you know, sounded like a phone ringing. Anyone know where I can find, say, a Samsung or Sanyo ringer pack? Or a bunch of standard cell phone ringers? I've searched the android market and several apps therein and can't find what i'm looking for.

I have searched before posting this thread so please forgive me if I missed it somewhere. I have a stock Moment running cl14. I have made ring tones & placed them in the appropriate folders. Sometimes when I receive a phone call, the only way I know it is because my bluetooth will beep in my ear. The phone lights up & caller id kicks in but I get no sound & no vibrate. I can call the phone & actually see the symbol for "silent mode" pop up & disappear when the phone rings. I then have to go to the Sound & Display tab & re-choose the ring tone I already have selected from the list to get audible ring tones. Can anyone shed light into this?
Also sometimes my personalized ring tones for contacts will not play, or more like play the 1st time they call & play the default ring tone the 2nd time they call.
I am hoping this is just a setting somewhere I am missing. While I am on the Internet my Moment will not let me know if someone is calling. It sends the caller directly to voicemail without even ringing on their end. I have only had the phone for 4 days after switching from a Blackberry Curve. I went back and forth trying to decide if I wanted the Moment or the Tour. I chose the Moment but if the phone will not ring while I am surfing the Internet...it really is not going to work out.

Im not willing to 'ROOT' my phone, im patiently waiting for 2.1.
I set my phone to talk the callers name or the phone number of the caller if the incoming call is not on my contacts list.I have tried for ways to take the phone back to a normal ring without success. I do not want people hearing who the call is from.I am at a loss as to how to shut this feature down.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so i created a folder on my sd card called ringers, worked great for allowing me to use my mp3 files that i croped for my ringtones, however when the phone rings it doesnt ring at the desired volume from the begining, it vibrates only for 1 pulse then the volume slowly comes in from min to the desired level it is as if it is set to escalating. I have searched through all the settings but if there is a way to turn this off i have missed it. I know the mp3 file doesnt escalate because i use the same file on my moment and it rings at full volume from the beginning.

All the apps I have found, to make your phone ring to help you find it, require sending an SMS from another phone. Doesn't help much when I am at home and can't find my phone. Is there an app to find my phone using my PC? Like, send an email? Or maybe there is an app for my PC that sends an SMS? I can't find that either.

I have found a few on the Market but so far none are filling the bill as to what I need. Basically I have a little hearing loss so prefer basic tone type ring tones rather than a tune or clip from some song or movie. Funny but I kinda like the ring tone of the old standard phone ringer. Can someone suggest something on the Market or some other alternative? I suppose it's as easy as downloading anything using my computer and sending it to my cell phone and using it from there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedJust got the 2.1 update for my Moment. Have a problem. I leave my phone on at night on the charger. I get up way earlier then my wife. Now after the update - my text notification ringer goes off when I plug in and unplug the charger. I tried turning off the "Notification Ringtone" - and that worked to kill the charger plug/unplug sound - but it also turned off the ring when I get an incoming text. That just will not work - turning that on and off all the time. Is there a way to just disable the sound when the charger is plugged/unplugged?

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.

For some reason, using the regular browser, I can't get google.com to open up in English. I think it's opening in French.
Google appears to know that I'm located in Kansas. I believe I've tried about everything I can think of with regard to browser settings, google's settings... tried to clear all the history, cookies, cache... performed "reset to default"... every time I go to Google it comes up in French. There's a link, of course, to get it in English. But it's infuriating that it won't just come up in English.
Anybody had something like this? Alternatively, anybody have thoughts on why it might be happening?
I've not installed many apps. Skreebl, Handcent, a date widget and a battery widget are all I've got going right now. I'm thinking that a complete "Factory data reset" is in order, but I'd hate to lose the stuff on my SD card (mp3s, wallpapers). I have not researched - those things may not be affected by a Factory data reset.
Everytime I try to download an app it goes to download and I see the download bar but upon checking notifications find Download Unsuccessful waiting for me. To top it off my apps have updates avail that will not load either.
I never rooted the phone and had no problems up till now Yes I turned off power and removed the battery to reset..
It seems that there are some apps that are not showing up in my market place.Specifically, I can't find iTag or Radio Paradise Widget.I have tried searching in a bunch of different ways, but it seems like they are just missing from the market.Any ideas why or what I can do about it?

I can't find it in the marketplace. Not when I search for "Kobo," not when I search for "e-reader" or "ereader." And way too much comes up when I search for "e-book" or "ebook" (tons of individual ebooks come up).
Some other users of Android Forum have posted comments about the Kobo eReader, but I just can't seem to locate it.

We both text quite a bit and for some reason, on his phone when you start typing a name in the "to" field of the text message, it does not give the option of choosing from matching contacts. But mine does. Is there a setting that I need to change? Anyone having the same issue?

I recently installed a (paid) homescreen app called GDE from a guy at XDA developers. It's wonderful, and gives me a choice of the number of homescreens, transition type, and whether the sequence of screens loops or not (appears endless) It works well and is very smooth. I use the box transitions and it's very impressive.
Back to the icons, which will be of interest to anyone who replaces their homescreen app. When I installed GDE, I was basically given 5 blank homescreens. All my shortcuts were gone and had to be re-installed.
Not so bad, because it gave me a chance to re-organize my device. But, I couldn't find my CNN, ESPN, Facebook icons. That's when I started this post, because I thought they were apps, they are not, they are browser favorite shortcuts on the homescreen.
So, if any of you replace your home app and want to restore these, just open your browser, go to favorites, and long hold on the shortcuts you want to install on home.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to check my call log this morning and noticed it was completely empty. Not too big of a deal but still somewhat of a hassle. Then as I started getting calls throughout the day, I noticed that all of my contacts had their ringers reset to the default ringer instead of their custom one. I haven't seen or heard of this problem anywhere else. I know people have had their messages completely wiped but this seems to be only Phone data.
