I am trying to find a way to organize my contacts. As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.

I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am a little confused on how information for contacts is organized.
I saved all my contacts info on Google, so when I added my Google account to this photo, everything downloaded and synced up. Seems okay.
Because I find the Facebook app calendar syncing feature to be less than adequate (for example, I like having higher resolution pictures display on this large screen) I downloaded a third-party Facebook contacts sync app. Works great.
Now, I have several contacts that are both Google and Facebook contacts. At least one of my Google contacts has a Google picture that that person has uploaded which is different from their Facebook picture that is syncing tocmy phone. Do I have the option to select which picture displays? I thought that selecting default information for the contact would work, but I don't seem to have that option there.
I guess another way of asking this question is how Android decides which picture to display when there are both Google profile pictures and Facebook picture synced on a phone. SCH-I535
I've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

I have tons of contacts in many different groups on my account.If I select the gmail account on my galaxy it does not recognize the groups and it throws all my contacts into one group with the name of my gmail account.
Is there a way (an application) to fix this?
How come the groups tab of Contacts on this phone ignores your google groups completely? That makes the contacts pretty much useless to me. I have over 700 contacts and they're all grouped nice and neatly, but that doesn't seem to matter. Any way to merge the phone groups with the google accounts groups?

I manually deleted the whole set, but I could not find a setting to stop storing this information. Ideas? If I ever lose or have my phone stolen, I don't want months of text messages available...

I also have facebook on my droid2 and whenever i go to my contacts list to make a call both my gmail contacts and my facebook contacts are in the list. I have 500 facebook contacts and many of them are just people i have known in the past but dont talk to so I dont need them in my phones contact list. it also makes teh list HUGE having 500 more contacts. I want to change it so that when i go to my contact list I only see my gmail contacts.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?

Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.
In Google Contacts I've entered birthdays and subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Google Calendar.They show up as intended in Google Calendar but in my phones calendar they're all listed twice. Unsubscribing from the contacts birthdays calendar makes both disappear, so they're not from some other calendar.Is this a bug in the Galaxy S calendar? Any solutions?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.
Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.
I want to send mass text messages to about 5 people in my phone at once. How do I group them?

View 6 Replies View Relatedso I created a group and misspelled the name in the silly "Contacts" application. So, I deleted the group and created a new one with the name properly spelled. Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind.The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve not found any specific in depth instructions with my phone so here goes my question...I have managed to sync al my email gmail facebook and phone contacts to my handset, I want to put my contacts (mainly phone numbers) into groups so its easier to group SMS people etc, when i try to add contacts to a group it only seems to come up with my Gmail added Email addresses, i have gone into the relevant menu and selected display phone contacts only (or something similar) and re tried but still i am getting just my Gmail addresses as the only option to add to groups. In the Android music player, many of the albums (classical, mostly), were all jumbled together in an "Unknown artist" file. The instruction book for the phone says I should not use my computer to create new folders, or rename folders, on the SD. HOw, then do I delete and rearrange music files? I don't see a prompt for creating folders in the app on the phone.

The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.
