View 1 RepliesQuestion is, is there a way to show contacts in their "Groups"? They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? I'm using an incredible and this functionality is build into HTC's "people". Am I missing something similar that Motorola has set up? Seems like theres gotta be a way to group contacts on here too.
View 9 Replies View Relatedso I created a group and misspelled the name in the silly "Contacts" application. So, I deleted the group and created a new one with the name properly spelled. Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind.The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Google contacts sync up with the Droid X just fine, except that the groups on Google don't show up on the Droid. Also, groups on the Droid don't show up on Google. Also, Google tasks are not downloading to the Droid.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore 2.2 upgrade, under contacts/menu "display groups" would present me with a list of contact groups (all, phone, google) with a header of "show".Now I just get the "show" header and no list of groups.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have searched but I wanted to ask specific to DX to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. Google Contact Groups don't appear in my contacts on the DX regardless of sync. One of the group names I created did transfer over and Organization name.
I cannot sort the contracts by group on my phone. I either have all or none. Did I do something wrong (most likely yes, this was much easier in the BB world)? Am I missing a step, this appears to be a problem on all Android OS. So do I need an app to fix this?
I'm trying to delete the groups that come with the phone, like VIP, Favorites, Family, Friends and Co-Workers.
I am running the latest 2.1 leak, and yes, my phone is rooted. I would think if anything, this would make deleting the stock groups easier!
I want to send mass text messages to about 5 people in my phone at once. How do I group them?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoes it make sense that my alarm doesn't ever go off? No matter what settings I try, it never goes off. It always says "you're alarm is set for 8 hours and 37 minutes from now", yet it never goes off at that time. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I download an alarm app from the marketplace and if so which one is good?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI started using MixZing lately and it bothers me that when I try to use the music controls on my bluetooth headphones the stock music app takes over. Is there a way I can disable the stock app (or if I remove it altogether will that cause other problems?)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know for the life of me how to see all my accounts I have with the stock email app. I have two AOL accounts, but every time I open the app, only one account shows up. I try pressing "back" and it exits the program. I also tried seeing what I can do when I press the settings button (first left button).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had quite a few problems with the stock gps. I am not sure if its the program or the gps in the phone. I downloaded the "aura" app for navigation and it worked just didn't like the OS of it. But with that app you have to download the maps so it basically only relies on the phone for the gps signal for location not for the maps. I was wondering if anyone has tried any other navigation apps and if they work better than the stock version?
View 28 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to change the color or get rid of the bubble look of the stock messaging app? don't want to use Handcent or Chomp, so what are my options? (If any). Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI use and prefer the stock email app, but currently have a small issue. When looking at the folders, it says there is one unread email in the trash folder. However, when you open the trash folder, there is nothing there (I regularly delete my emails from it). Why this is happening and how to correct it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew to android and really like it. However, seems like the maintenance of contacts is a common source of confusion. I have contacts from my Gmail displayed. I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.
Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.
I synced facebook to my contacts. I want to add some of them to certain groups but when I go to do it none of my contacts are there? What gives?

I got my desire 2 days bak. i copied all my contacts from my old phone to my desire. now problem is, in grouping option when i tap "add contact", i couldn't see Sim contacts. can any one suggest me how to create groups for my Sim contacts..
View 4 Replies View RelatedComing from a Blackberry, I was able to create a "Group" and add people to that group so that I could send SMS Text messages to those in that group rather than having to add each one individually each time. I haven't found a way to do this on the new Droid. Is there some software/trick that I'm missing? I used this for work when multiple people need to get the same message at the same time.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a way to organize my contacts. As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.
View 12 Replies View RelatedStrange curious thing, but, in All Contacts, even in Google, the contacts I have in Groups like Family aren't showing. I have to actually go into that contact set to get them to show. I would have thought that All Contacts, would have actually been all not some.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIve not found any specific in depth instructions with my phone so here goes my question...I have managed to sync al my email gmail facebook and phone contacts to my handset, I want to put my contacts (mainly phone numbers) into groups so its easier to group SMS people etc, when i try to add contacts to a group it only seems to come up with my Gmail added Email addresses, i have gone into the relevant menu and selected display phone contacts only (or something similar) and re tried but still i am getting just my Gmail addresses as the only option to add to groups. Any help would be greatly appreciated and im sorry if its blurringly obvious!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to figure out how to put contacts into different groups on my Moment. i.e. family, friends, works groups. Is this possible?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I click "contacts", it shows "All Groups", not "Phone Contacts". After I switch the display group to "Phone Contacts", it'll stay that way for an hour or so, but later, it'll switch right back to "All contacts". (I have "facebook" and "twitter" groups in contacts as well). Is anyone else having this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you are wondering How to make "Groups" emailing work in Gmail on the Droid and a pain in the ass it is.Create a Contact with the name of your group Copy & Paste each persons email address that you would like in this group-Put each one in the SAME EMAIL BOX-Seperating each one with <emailaddresshere>, <emailaddresshere>,
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.
View 24 Replies View RelatedProblem 1.
I have this class:
public class ContactGroups {
// Form an array specifying which columns to return.
String[] projection = new String[] { Contacts.Groups._ID,
Contacts.Groups._COUNT, Contacts.Groups.NAME, Contacts.Groups.NOTES };
public Cursor getList(Activity act) {
Uri contacts = Contacts.Groups.CONTENT_URI;
// using the debugger code kills here
Cursor managedCursor = act.managedQuery(contacts, projection,
null, null, null );
return managedCursor;
} public ArrayList<String> getColumnData(Cursor cur) { ArrayList<String> aa = new ArrayList<String>();
if (cur.moveToFirst()) { String name;
String notes;
int nameColumn = cur.getColumnIndex(Contacts.Groups.NAME);
int notesColumn = cur.getColumnIndex(Contacts.Groups.NOTES);
do {
// Get the field values name = cur.getString(nameColumn);
notes = cur.getString(notesColumn);
aa.add(name);
// Do something with the values. } while (cur.moveToNext())
} return aa;
} }
I am calling this as:
ContactGroups mGrp= new ContactGroups();
final ArrayAdapter<String> aa;
aa = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1,mGrp.getColumnData(mGrp.getList(this)));
myListView.setAdapter(aa);
And having:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_CONTACTS"></uses-permission>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS"></uses-permission>
I get a Source not found error and a Logcat error
ERROR/DatabaseUtils(617): java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid column _count
Problem 2.
Where do I create manually contact groups?
I have created a new group to add some contacts, However when I try to add a contact there is nobody in the list. I have contacts but there stored on SIM. How do I get them to show up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my other android devices there was a setting to have only my grouped Google contacts sync with the phone. The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.
