I was alarmed to find this morning that my entire text message history was still stored in this History tab of the contacts/dialer tabs, despite having deleted all my text messages. I manually deleted the whole set, but I could not find a setting to stop storing this information. Ideas? If I ever lose or have my phone stolen, I don't want months of text messages available...

I'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?

Will the updates take place the same as if the phone was not rooted at all or must other steps be taken to take advantage of the pending updtates.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts saved to the phone, deleted all contacts saved on SIM. I now saved everything to google contacts, and even after saving some in various groups, I cannot get the groups to sync over to the vibrant. All of the contacts synced perfectly, but not the groups. I even tried making new groups using different names than the generic google group names. If I display contacts from both the phones memory and google contacts, then it will show me the groups I've selected.

As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI accidentally activated my wifi through the notification bar. As soon as it was activated, i simply tapped it again to shut it down, however, it failed to do so. All that happened was that the wifi had a blue color and off in the bottom. I tried turning it off through the power setting widget, it says that updating wifi. So I purchased a samsung galaxy s vibrant off somebody through kijiji, he said the phone is supposed to be unlocked, when I go into the network settings, I can choose between rogers, talus and bell, I choose talus, it says I'm with Talus. However when I can't make calls or send text messages, but people can call me, on top of this, when I turn on the phone it says enter unlock pin code, what is this code, how do I fix it?

View 15 Replies View RelatedIf you removed your acct for some reason you may find your phone unable to sync w/ facebook photos and available only for updates.
If this happens to you:
Go to Contacts
Click Menu
Click Add Friends
Click Facebook (not add account)
Check mark the friends you would like to add... IMPORTANT name spelling must be the same to go over without a hitch.
If the name is different and you've ALREADY added the facebook photo... Click on the name in the contact list. Click link... a suggestion should pop up. Select it.
I used this app called iDrive lite to back my iPhone contacts on it, and now when I use it on Android, they load just fine, however when my phone reboots. all the contacts disappear. However it doesn't erase my manually added ones. Just the ones I restored from that app.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy first Android phone, so please forgive my ignorance if any. Rooted Vibrant, flashed from stock ROM to Obsidian V4. I did a "backup current ROM" before "install ROM from SD card" by using Rom Manager. The process went smooth, but after booting into the new ROM, I found that all my contacts were gone. Sync with google account won't help because most of the phone numbers are not tied with my gmail contacts.
Now, I want to know if there is any way to extract/restore my contacts without restoring to the saved backup. Actually, I tried restore but the phone did not boot after restore. Do I have to use Odin to boot my phone to solve this issue? And even if I succeed, will I see all my contacts?
