Jul 7, 2010I have been trying to figure out how to put contacts into different groups on my Moment. i.e. family, friends, works groups. Is this possible?

Samsung Moment :: Groups Missing In Moment Gmail Contacts And Call Waiting Drops Call
Dec 12, 2009In Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

Jul 9, 2010I've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

Sep 11, 2010How come the groups tab of Contacts on this phone ignores your google groups completely? That makes the contacts pretty much useless to me. I have over 700 contacts and they're all grouped nice and neatly, but that doesn't seem to matter. Any way to merge the phone groups with the google accounts groups?

Jul 5, 2010I checked a similar thread but wasn't satisfied with the answers there. I just bought a Moment with 2.1 loaded. I'd like to know if the contacts program or the texting app that came loaded on the phone have a way to send text messages to groups.(Maybe this is a Google question.) I'm using Gmail contacts, which load into the phone fine, but I can't locate (in the phone) the groups I've set up. (As if they don't survive the sync). So the only way to send txt to multiple recipients is to enter each manually. Can get tedious for large lists.

As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.

Jun 23, 2010Ive not found any specific in depth instructions with my phone so here goes my question...I have managed to sync al my email gmail facebook and phone contacts to my handset, I want to put my contacts (mainly phone numbers) into groups so its easier to group SMS people etc, when i try to add contacts to a group it only seems to come up with my Gmail added Email addresses, i have gone into the relevant menu and selected display phone contacts only (or something similar) and re tried but still i am getting just my Gmail addresses as the only option to add to groups. Any help would be greatly appreciated and im sorry if its blurringly obvious!

Nov 15, 2010I have searched but I wanted to ask specific to DX to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. Google Contact Groups don't appear in my contacts on the DX regardless of sync. One of the group names I created did transfer over and Organization name.
I cannot sort the contracts by group on my phone. I either have all or none. Did I do something wrong (most likely yes, this was much easier in the BB world)? Am I missing a step, this appears to be a problem on all Android OS. So do I need an app to fix this?

Aug 9, 2010I am a new Moment user. I transfered all my contacts info (phone numbers, emails, etc.) from my old phone to the Moment. When I go to add a new contact directly into the Moment, it doesn't display in the contacts. Is there a setting that I must check to allow input directly on the phone?

Sep 8, 2010I'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?

Nov 24, 2010New to android and really like it. However, seems like the maintenance of contacts is a common source of confusion. I have contacts from my Gmail displayed. I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.
Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.

Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind.The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.
