I am having a problem using the Groups option in my Contacts app.When I try to add members, only three of my many contacts are displayed. I have tried to figure out why these three contacts are being filtered out but they do not seem to have anything particular in common. How can I get all my contacts to display when adding to Groups?

I am trying to find a way to organize my contacts. As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.
View 24 Replies View RelatedNew to android and really like it. However, seems like the maintenance of contacts is a common source of confusion. I have contacts from my Gmail displayed. I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.
Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.
I have created a new group to add some contacts, However when I try to add a contact there is nobody in the list. I have contacts but there stored on SIM. How do I get them to show up?

I have tons of contacts in many different groups on my account.If I select the gmail account on my galaxy it does not recognize the groups and it throws all my contacts into one group with the name of my gmail account.
Is there a way (an application) to fix this?
How come the groups tab of Contacts on this phone ignores your google groups completely? That makes the contacts pretty much useless to me. I have over 700 contacts and they're all grouped nice and neatly, but that doesn't seem to matter. Any way to merge the phone groups with the google accounts groups?

I manually deleted the whole set, but I could not find a setting to stop storing this information. Ideas? If I ever lose or have my phone stolen, I don't want months of text messages available...

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have added my work exchange email account to my Samsung Galaxy S. It starts to downloads email, contacts and calender entries but then starts to freeze or pop-up screens appears saying that there is no contact with TwLauncher - it doesn't matter if I choose "wait" or "force close". Even if I delete the exchange account the phone keeps freezing and I have to do a phone reset (with all the setting up and downloading of apps to follow). I have tried to set up the account on a clean phone with NO other apps installed same problem. What do I do? Our server is Exchange 2003. It works fine with my colleagues Nokia and HTC phones.

From within 'contacts' i hit the 'display options' then selecting the email account I see the drop down for system contact groups-friends, family, coworkers. I am wondering if there is any way to create additional contact types or groups? As in I have a specific group of contacts from one website I want to add to a group--can you create a contact type or contact group?? I can't find the option when adding a new contact or when within the display options as mentioned before.

After I switch the display group to "Phone Contacts", it'll stay that way for an hour or so, but later, it'll switch right back to "All contacts". (I have "facebook" and "twitter" groups in contacts as well). Is anyone else having this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?

Something that was a non issue on my old faithful G1.Samsung, it seems, has seen fit to screw with the contact management making it necessary to have a contact in the phone memory proper to assign a custom ringtone.I have found a simple solution. Download Ringo Lite from the market place. It will allow you to assign ringtones to any contact on the phone in a really simple manner and the app is free. It has other features like assigning rings to sms messages and stuff but I don't care about that or need that. But for setting ringtones it works just dandy.

I have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.
Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.
My dad just got a Fascinate over the weekend. (I have the Captivate).When he enters a new contact, it displays Firstname, Lastname. All of his contacts are displayed that way. On the Fascinate, how do you change the display order to Lastname, Firstname? I know how to do it on my Captivate.can't find the option on the Fascinate.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Google Contacts I've entered birthdays and subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Google Calendar.They show up as intended in Google Calendar but in my phones calendar they're all listed twice. Unsubscribing from the contacts birthdays calendar makes both disappear, so they're not from some other calendar.Is this a bug in the Galaxy S calendar? Any solutions?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.
