Motorola Droid X :: Groups Delete From Contacts
Jul 25, 2010so I created a group and misspelled the name in the silly "Contacts" application. So, I deleted the group and created a new one with the name properly spelled. Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind.The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.

Aug 8, 2010My Google contacts sync up with the Droid X just fine, except that the groups on Google don't show up on the Droid. Also, groups on the Droid don't show up on Google. Also, Google tasks are not downloading to the Droid.

They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? I'm using an incredible and this functionality is build into HTC's "people". Am I missing something similar that Motorola has set up? Seems like theres gotta be a way to group contacts on here too.

Nov 15, 2010I have searched but I wanted to ask specific to DX to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. Google Contact Groups don't appear in my contacts on the DX regardless of sync. One of the group names I created did transfer over and Organization name.
I cannot sort the contracts by group on my phone. I either have all or none. Did I do something wrong (most likely yes, this was much easier in the BB world)? Am I missing a step, this appears to be a problem on all Android OS. So do I need an app to fix this?
HTC Droid Eris :: No Sync Groups Option
Feb 22, 2010I've had my Eris since the week it came out and it has the People > Groups > Sync Groups option, however a friend of mine just got an Eris and his phone does not have this option and is syncing ALL of his gmail contacts. His groups screen only has the option to add or delete groups.The only difference I can think is that I did not have Verizon transfer my contacts from my blackberry to my Eris, he did.

Nov 24, 2010New to android and really like it. However, seems like the maintenance of contacts is a common source of confusion. I have contacts from my Gmail displayed. I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.
Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.

As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Jun 23, 2010Ive not found any specific in depth instructions with my phone so here goes my question...I have managed to sync al my email gmail facebook and phone contacts to my handset, I want to put my contacts (mainly phone numbers) into groups so its easier to group SMS people etc, when i try to add contacts to a group it only seems to come up with my Gmail added Email addresses, i have gone into the relevant menu and selected display phone contacts only (or something similar) and re tried but still i am getting just my Gmail addresses as the only option to add to groups. Any help would be greatly appreciated and im sorry if its blurringly obvious!

Jul 9, 2010I've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

Dec 15, 2009I logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.
General :: Import Contacts And Groups Locally On Non-rooted Units
Feb 4, 2014I need to import contacts and groups to 20 brand new phones, to begin with. (Stock, non-rooted Galaxy S4+, 4.2.2.). The phones will stay un-rooted.
-Avoid if possible using Gmail sync.
-Avoid if possible using Kies.
-Preferably use csv and/or vcf with groups (one group for each department).
-Preferably not being forced to connect every phone to a computer by usb cable. Fixable by download from web site on local wireless network.
What I've tried so far:Imported the original CSV:s, sorted them into groups, exported them as CSV to get the correct columns for android phones. So far so good.
Exported above mentioned CSV:s to VCF from a Google Contacts, sent it over to test phone by Pushbullet (for the test only, web site solution imminent), imported it in Contacts. Does not retain groups, shows as "Not assigned". It doesn't seem possible to create local groups? They can only be created with accounts such as gmail. (As I see it, this is my main problem now).
Tried Google Account sync: Problem not solved due to one single Google account, and one Google account on all phones are susceptible to contact deletion by fat fingers and people that are struck by bad luck while thinking. One Google account for each phone would do the trick, but probably not an accepted solution by our IT security "manager", even when using Google Auth.
Tried Kies Sync: Problem not solved due to USB connection, and still no local groups.
Tried Importing CSV file into Windows Contacts (which ****s up the columns, not all are matchable) and exporting as VCF. Problem not solved, no groups.

Sep 11, 2010How come the groups tab of Contacts on this phone ignores your google groups completely? That makes the contacts pretty much useless to me. I have over 700 contacts and they're all grouped nice and neatly, but that doesn't seem to matter. Any way to merge the phone groups with the google accounts groups?
