I have been using gmail extensively for the last 3 years. I have tons of contacts in many different groups on my account.If I select the gmail account on my galaxy it does not recognize the groups and it throws all my contacts into one group with the name of my gmail account.
Is there a way (an application) to fix this?

I just can't seem to have my gmail groups appear on my Fascinate. I mean they don't even show up. I can alter my contacts in gmail and that shows up on my phone but any group I create will not show up.

Any new contacts that i create in galaxy s can be synced with gmail. i just can't sync the existing ones.

I have lots of funny contact names because of the SKYPE nicknames. Also, some contacts are made from email handlers.
So to organize them nicely, I spent last few hours on my Gmail / Contact account, renaming, adding photos, merging etc... Except, that when I want to SYNC it. Not all of the contacts update, and some remain as they were.
I would trash them all and import new set from Gmail, but I'm worry that when I do that, it might trash my gmail contact as well
Also, is there any way to change the contact font size? I have many long names, and lots of contacts. The screen cuts most of the names off and many of the contacts share same name. I have to open the contact, to find out details in order to know who I'm looking for.
I have all of my contacts saved to the phone, deleted all contacts saved on SIM. I now saved everything to google contacts, and even after saving some in various groups, I cannot get the groups to sync over to the vibrant. All of the contacts synced perfectly, but not the groups. I even tried making new groups using different names than the generic google group names. If I display contacts from both the phones memory and google contacts, then it will show me the groups I've selected.

As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.

In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

My business email account is sent up through the regular email program on my phone. This way I can differentiate personal from business email on my home page. On thing I noticed is that I can't send mail to group contacts with Gmail program, but it seems to work okay with the regular email program. Is there a way to use group contacts with the Gmail program?

Those groups get synced to my android contacts and I can see them in the groups tab. However, neither gmail nor any sms app that I have tried actually use these contact groups for anything.
Am I missing some setting for this to work or is this not implemented in android?
I've had my Eris since the week it came out and it has the People > Groups > Sync Groups option, however a friend of mine just got an Eris and his phone does not have this option and is syncing ALL of his gmail contacts. His groups screen only has the option to add or delete groups.The only difference I can think is that I did not have Verizon transfer my contacts from my blackberry to my Eris, he did.

They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? I'm using an incredible and this functionality is build into HTC's "people". Am I missing something similar that Motorola has set up? Seems like theres gotta be a way to group contacts on here too.

The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt worked before and now stop, Asking the phone to do data sync to gmail emails, turn the sync sign on the status bar. and then the this sign hang there forever and the emails are not sync. I try with 2 kind of wifi + 3gp and nothing, my phone don't want to sync my emails. The strange thing is, when i ask the phone to sync my calender + contacts it's working ok. While asking to sync the emails it's hangs forever.

I've done restore, but then once my phone access the contact list again they are gone. I did not realize this after the first restore and now it's been too long (gmail only allows 29 days to restore) since I last restored to see any of the 100's of contacts I manually entered into Gmail!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a Motorolla SLVR L7, now I've got my Galaxy S Captivate.I was able to get my contacts from the L7 onto the sim, and the Captivate seems to be reading the sim contacts just fine.I then imported from my Sim card onto my Captivate's internal memory.I had assumed that this would allow me to sync up those contacts into my Gmail, so that I can do manual backups and have a keyboard/mouse to manage them.Except they aren't being loaded into my gmail.
