Is there an app or something that will allow me to view the contacts that i have in set groups. I have a group for family and works and mates, is there a way to view a list of all my work contacts on my htc hero?
Also if possible i would like to be able to send a text to all the people in a certain group. Any ideas?

New to android and really like it. However, seems like the maintenance of contacts is a common source of confusion. I have contacts from my Gmail displayed. I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.
Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.

All i want is a contact list with group name tabs at the top or something like that. But no... not a single app can do this. Come of them support groups, others dont, but all of them make you jump through hoops to change them on the fly.

I am trying to find a way to organize my contacts. As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. Does anyone know a way to group Google contacts on the phone. I don't even care about making Groups on sync. I just want to group them now that they are on my phone.

View 6 Replies View Relatedso I created a group and misspelled the name in the silly "Contacts" application. So, I deleted the group and created a new one with the name properly spelled. Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind.The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve not found any specific in depth instructions with my phone so here goes my question...I have managed to sync al my email gmail facebook and phone contacts to my handset, I want to put my contacts (mainly phone numbers) into groups so its easier to group SMS people etc, when i try to add contacts to a group it only seems to come up with my Gmail added Email addresses, i have gone into the relevant menu and selected display phone contacts only (or something similar) and re tried but still i am getting just my Gmail addresses as the only option to add to groups. Any help would be greatly appreciated and im sorry if its blurringly obvious!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.

They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? View 9 Replies View RelatedI have searched but I wanted to ask specific to DX to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. Google Contact Groups don't appear in my contacts on the DX regardless of sync. One of the group names I created did transfer over and Organization name.
I cannot sort the contracts by group on my phone. I either have all or none. Did I do something wrong (most likely yes, this was much easier in the BB world)? Am I missing a step, this appears to be a problem on all Android OS. So do I need an app to fix this?
I need to import contacts and groups to 20 brand new phones, to begin with. (Stock, non-rooted Galaxy S4+, 4.2.2.). The phones will stay un-rooted.
-Avoid if possible using Gmail sync.
-Avoid if possible using Kies.
-Preferably use csv and/or vcf with groups (one group for each department).
-Preferably not being forced to connect every phone to a computer by usb cable. Fixable by download from web site on local wireless network.
What I've tried so far:Imported the original CSV:s, sorted them into groups, exported them as CSV to get the correct columns for android phones. So far so good.
Exported above mentioned CSV:s to VCF from a Google Contacts, sent it over to test phone by Pushbullet (for the test only, web site solution imminent), imported it in Contacts. Does not retain groups, shows as "Not assigned". It doesn't seem possible to create local groups? They can only be created with accounts such as gmail. (As I see it, this is my main problem now).
Tried Google Account sync: Problem not solved due to one single Google account, and one Google account on all phones are susceptible to contact deletion by fat fingers and people that are struck by bad luck while thinking. One Google account for each phone would do the trick, but probably not an accepted solution by our IT security "manager", even when using Google Auth.
Tried Kies Sync: Problem not solved due to USB connection, and still no local groups.
Tried Importing CSV file into Windows Contacts (which ****s up the columns, not all are matchable) and exporting as VCF. Problem not solved, no groups.
How come the groups tab of Contacts on this phone ignores your google groups completely? That makes the contacts pretty much useless to me. I have over 700 contacts and they're all grouped nice and neatly, but that doesn't seem to matter. Any way to merge the phone groups with the google accounts groups?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is for people who use GPS a lot. Before I would create groups just for my texting, but Navigation works great too. Took a wine trip to Santa Barbara. Had a few places (hotel, boat cruise, wineries, Santa Barbara Mission, some restaurants, that taco stand Julia Child made famous, etc.), and just created a contact for each. No inputting on phone or using voice, it's already done.Had concert @ Hollywood Bowl. They have shuttle service at some offsite locations like the LA Zoo or in Studio City. I just create a group called Concerts, and copy and paste address from website.Meeting friend at bar never been to? Already have a Group called Bars. Just copy and paste address, and your done.I have groups for everything. Family, San Francisco, San Diego friends, Hotels, Bars, sporting venues, whatever. I cross link whenever I can, Just hit People and slide over to Groups. The whole goal for me is just to hit buttons, and not have to input anything when I'm on run. Use it like AppBrain. So much easier to manage everything from Google contacts page. Just copy and paste eveything.Best part is, can delete or add anytime.Also saves me battery since doing stuff on computer, and everything is synced automatically.

I manually deleted the whole set, but I could not find a setting to stop storing this information. Ideas? If I ever lose or have my phone stolen, I don't want months of text messages available...

I have assigned individual ringtones and sms tones to many contacts and groups on my S4 and sometimes after a restart, the phone reverts to default tones, so what I need is an app or utility to backup just these settings for me so I can restore them easily.
I'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.
