Is there a hidden setting somewhere where I can tell the phone not to charge when I plug in the USB data cable? So, please charge when I plug in the power adapter, but please don't charge when I plug in the USB data cable. The reason I'm asking is because with all of experimenting I'm doing, trying to get my USB PC to phone connection working, my battery is being overcharged. Yes overcharged to the extent that the phone has even popped up a message once or twice telling me to disconnect, that the battery is fully charged.

if it is, can u describe how.
I am trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Express to my W7 PC with a usb cable. I was able to do it last week. I have changed nothing. Suddenly, it won't connect. But it does charge when connected to the PC. It also does not work in my W7 laptop, though it charges in that also. Further, my wife has an identical model phone, and it works in both computers. And just for fun, I tried two different usb cables, not that I even expected that to make a difference.
I have been through the abysmal tech support attempt - which basically told me to do everything I already tried from a google search. Settings changes, all that junk.
Can I Tethering on my phone with the USB cable connected on mij PC, and how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung galaxy R with stock 2.3.5 & i was wondering if there is any app / setting that let's u share your PC's broadband connection with android phone via USB cable . the thing is, i have a wired ADSL router at my place (Non-WiFi) so i just simply want to explore my options before i just go ahead & buy the WiFi router. i tried goggling that same but it seems there is no straight forward app that let u do so in Samsung phone, my bro is having HTC explorer & it has option called "Internet pass through" which let u do exactly what i need.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a GTI-i9000. GPS on it is terrible and I have ready many forums with other users experiencing the same problems. I was thinking, and wanted to clear up a cloudy understanding. On my previous phone (iPhone 3G), when I was not connected to WiFi, I was still able to browse webpages etc, albeit slowly. Is that called GPRS? The form of data?
On my Galaxy, I cannot do this at all. If I am not connected to a WiFi connection, I have 0 internet. I'm just wondering if this is the cause of my dodgy GPS. Is there a setting i need to change or does the SGS not do internet if you're not connected to WiFi. I live in Australia if that helps at all.
I installed the vibrant4 ROM, and everything ran great.
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743769&page=1
I decided to upgrade to the vibrant 9 rom... the phone works except if i plug in the USB... it reboots and the battery charger attempts to charge then 1sec later it reboots again, and again and again.
I want to connect this to USB so I can use Odin and restore the original ROM. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?
The "USB Connected" notification stays on after the USB is disconnected, there's no way to evict it other than a reboot but now will reboot only if USB is reconnected to PC or Charger.I was so pleased by my new Galaxy S cell 3 days ago after a week of exploring and managing to get the best carrier and plan for this bright Samsung Smartphone. Then, the day after it lockup, but removing the battery for few seconds then replacing it back fixed that problem for that day. The following day been great too up the second lockup at night and this time, removing temporarily the battery did not permit to have the cell working anymore. So today I have been trying all day to determine under what condition these lockups occur. During those tests, I've first determined that during charging or during USB PC connection, I could repower up the Galaxy S. Then the cell could work for long period of time if connected to USB PC or power supply, but when I remove the USB cable, the firmware fail to detect that there is no more USB connection and start to flash every couple of seconds the message "USB connected" replacing the status bar at the top of the screen.
Then after several minutes, the cell freeze, and only by removing for few seconds the battery and then plugging the charger again, will permit to successfully power up the phone.I have of course made a Hard Reset to Factory Default, to no avail, during those tests. I think it's a hardware malfunctioning around the USB Port section. The connector look good seen with loop and both USB cable seem ok.If it's corrected by an update, I wonder if I'll be able to re-flash under this condition.
On the galaxy s. Wondering if there was a way to get the phone to auto answer when and only when the headset that come with the phone are plugged in? i.e. with head set plugged in auto answer
no headset plugged in just act as normal. Hopefully I am just missing something obvious as I can see the option to enable auto answer but this seems to be regardless of weather or not there is a headset plugged in. If this is not possible is there a a way to shortcut the enable and disabling of auto answer rather than having to go through all the menus?
A few days ago I was using my schools wifi with no issue (its unsecured)
Now I can connect to the wifi but pages will simply not open (try again later or whatever the generic error message is)
I reset everything I could find still nothing.
My daughters samsung galaxy 3 is connected to the internet but won't connect to play store.

Does anyone know why this is so, and how to rectify this?
I was finally able to try out a working Moment instead of a demo model last night. I went to http://androidforums.com/ and was dismayed that the webmaster has coded this site so that text does not adjust to the screen width. The only way to use the site is either zoom out so the text is unreadably small, or keep scrolling left and right. The view is better than on my Centro (which has an even smaller screen), but it's annoying that a forum for mobile devices is not usable on one!I found a setting on the Moment that tries to allow the page to adjust, but if the site is HTML table-based with hard-coded widths the Moment can do nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI posted this earlier but it disappeared? When the phone is unplugged, it says USB connected, and all of the icons are missing from the top of the homepage (time, signal strength, 3g, etc). The pull down menu is also hard to pull down then is real jerky when it does pull down. When the phone is plugged in, it has the signal for the USB and all the icons return, It also shows a full battery, then tho it is not.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my new phone and feeling my way around. First I wanted to load some pictures from my computer. The only way I could make that work was to remove the Micro SD card, stick it in the computer, and load the pictures, and insert SD card back into phone. Worked fine; just awkward. When I connect the phone to the computer via USB cable, computer asks me to insert driver disk, which I don't have. What is the purpose of a USB cable?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S3 on the Bell Mobile network in Canada, and aside from the horrendous battery life, it's a pretty good phone. One thing I notice that's kinda annoying is the "Connected to Wi-Fi network [network name]" pop-up that comes up quite often. I've managed to snap a screenshot of it.
How to disable this? The only info I've found so far is on the Verizon pop-ups, and entering the *#6335623# code on the dial screen, but nothing comes up when I try that, and I'm not even sure that fix would work for this.
I am able to connect my Fascinate to the Aux input of my car stereo but when I make a call with the cable still connected, the internal microphone doesn't work. I have to disconnect the stereo cable and put the phone on speaker.
Ideally, I want to be able to keep the stereo cable connected and hear the person over the radio, and be able to talk. Is there a stereo cable with a microphone built into it that can be used for this purpose? I had one for my HTC device (Amazon.com: Handsfree Stereo Headset Headphones + Microphone + 3.5mm Adapter Converter + Car Home Charger Plug Port For All HTC Phone Smartphone PDA: Cell Phones & Service) that worked very well, but it would only push mono to the stereo.
My car doesn't have bluetooth so I can't go that route. What's my best option here so I can play music in my car and make handsfree calls without bluetooth?
How do you do it? I connected my phone using the USB cable, but it's only charging the phone.
