View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought an used Samsung Moment via Craiglist about 3 weeks ago. Initially, I had to wiggle my cable to get it charged. After few days, it was not charging nor communicating with my laptop via USB cable. Of course, the Craiglist seller was not willing help me.
After contacting Samsung, I had sent it in to be fixed since it was still under warranty. It just came back today with a note saying:
Your phone is damaged beyond economical repair in the form of a warped board, or missing or damaged components. The factory warranty has been voided.
I know that I can charge my battery via some kind of external batter charger that is around, but can I update my phone and/or root my phone without using USB cable? Can I use a bluetooth connection? If not any idea or suggestion?
I just installed recovery 5.0 and galaxo 1.6.2 rom. But when I enable or disable the root in recovery mode, an error message is displayed - "error enabling su !" or "error disabling su !" .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my phone and have now the recovery mode from HD blog. It's was working fine. So I tried to get the Galaxhero ROM installed. I did the following steps:
1) Reboot in recovery mode (Volume down + both Call buttons) and choose "Nandroid backup" to save a backup of your current ROM just in case.
2) Backup G apps
3) Then, choose "Wipe data/factory reset". The phone will reboot in recovery mode again.
4) Choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip" (second menu entry on the recovery screen)
5) Restore Google applications ("Restore G.Apps")
6) "Enable root (su)".
But then enable root failed! Anyway I went on further with reboot system. It rebooted till the "android HD logo" showed up and then suddenly the screen went off and it seemed like my phone went off. So I went back to the recovery mode and did the following steps:
Wipe data
Restore backup
Restore G apps
Enable root SU, but again enable su failed!!
Again I choose reboot system, and when the reboot came again to the "android HD logo". It stuck there and stayed looping.
First, why do I still see the android HD logo again because I did a wipe!
Second, How can I get my phone working again!
I have a Samsung galaxy R with stock 2.3.5 & i was wondering if there is any app / setting that let's u share your PC's broadband connection with android phone via USB cable . the thing is, i have a wired ADSL router at my place (Non-WiFi) so i just simply want to explore my options before i just go ahead & buy the WiFi router. i tried goggling that same but it seems there is no straight forward app that let u do so in Samsung phone, my bro is having HTC explorer & it has option called "Internet pass through" which let u do exactly what i need.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI lost my original microUSB cable that came with my Samsung Galaxy, and I went and bought a new one.
But, it seems like data doesn't sleep to work with this cable? Is that possible?
The phone is charging though, but I don't see a new drive popping up in my computer like usual, and I don't see the option of mounting the SD card on my phone..
Do I need a special kind of cable?
I have got problems with my usb cable. When I plug it into my computer it charges my phone, but transferring doesn't work. My computer doesn't recognize the usb!
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo i've persuaded o2 to have a look at my phone in the hope of replacing it. First they've asked me to reset the phone using *2767*3855#. If i have the same problems (dialpad not working during calls) then i've to return it. If their engineer cannot fix it, i'll (hopefully) get a replacement. So i'm running Galaxo with JC6, what should I do before returning the phone? I'm thinking Nandroid and then copy everything to my hard disk and remove that from my phone. Then use ODIN to install the latest official firmware (which is?). Then I run the reset command they gave me. That about right or should I do something else?
Has ANy one tried opening Samsung Galaxy i7500?, I have chnaged to galaxo 1.6.4. and running it happily downloading stuff and all and all of sudden battery discharged to the point that it would not get charged any more, Insitailly I thought I fried my battery with excess charging, hence I looked for batteries, fortunately in my THIRD world county India, there is no battery in stock at service stations. Hence I needed to wait for 5 days. Now remember I said fortunately.. whyy....cause then i tried restore the old OS, which Galaxo promptly helped me with, Now i tried charging again, but NO way, but the phone was getting heated up like it was on stove or something and it again stopped charging, So I understood its not the battery but the motherboard which has problem...
Now my cell is still in warranty, so before giving it to service station, I want to open it up and see whats what.. I got the manual already.it seems pretty simple( I have disassembled AT& T's Tilt, Nokai 6630, Nokia 6600, and many small others as well) but before that I would like to ask people has any one done it before ? anything I should be looking out for?
I try to make a recovery, but i get stuck in the first step for the 50th time LOL!!
on the command prompt when i have to do the fast boot, and next, <waiting for device> there is no conection between the phone and the computer, and stays <waiting for device> forever!
what am i doing wrong?
I am wondering how to apply themes from xda in our galaxy. A lot of themes say that will only work on cyanogen mod rom and i am not that expert to make experiments with my phone. The way of setting a theme must be the same (update.zip or correct me if i am wrong). I think we can make a list here of the working themes on galaxy and maybe a how to install or modify themes to work with galaxy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Samsung Galaxy i7500 with Bell mobility and I am trying to figure all these threads out and how to root, and how to upgrade my firmware, but the biggest hurdle I have come to is my pc will not recognize my phone as a 'phone' it only sees the internal sd card and the external card. I have downloaded three different versions of the samsung PC suite, and everyone will not recognize it. Am I missing an important driver? All I am doing is connecting via USB, and on my phone I choose to mount USB so I can access my sd cards on my PC.

I can probably boot into recovery and flash any zip but currently I cannot get to the home screen as it is locked so Lock 2.0 or other Market app is not a solution.
Does GAOSP Froyo support live wallpapers for i7500? If yes, can you recommend some that seem to run fine without (major) slowdown? I would suspect that the CPU is too slow to run most live wallpapers, but there might be some neat ones that are good to go?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a hidden setting somewhere where I can tell the phone not to charge when I plug in the USB data cable? So, please charge when I plug in the power adapter, but please don't charge when I plug in the USB data cable. The reason I'm asking is because with all of experimenting I'm doing, trying to get my USB PC to phone connection working, my battery is being overcharged. Yes overcharged to the extent that the phone has even popped up a message once or twice telling me to disconnect, that the battery is fully charged.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Express to my W7 PC with a usb cable. I was able to do it last week. I have changed nothing. Suddenly, it won't connect. But it does charge when connected to the PC. It also does not work in my W7 laptop, though it charges in that also. Further, my wife has an identical model phone, and it works in both computers. And just for fun, I tried two different usb cables, not that I even expected that to make a difference.
I have been through the abysmal tech support attempt - which basically told me to do everything I already tried from a google search. Settings changes, all that junk.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android and rooting. I have a Galaxy S and love it! I didn't even know what rooting was. I just came across it after looking for ways to make my phone faster. After a while I realized my phone speed slowed down and was looking for the reason behind it. That's when I learned rooting is the answer. So I used the One Click method and everything is fine so far.
My Kernel is 2.6.29 root@SE-S602 #2 and Baseband is XXJF3 (2.1). So I went into my apps and saw the superuser permission app. But it doesn'thttp://android.bigresource.com/add/add.php work! It is just a blacked out screen. So I am not sure where to go from here. I have tried searching for an answer but couldn't find one, just guides how to root. How to make my phone faster from this point? I get confused with all these ROM things! Which is the best ROM? MoDaCo? Is there a Froyo version of it?
i7500 does 1.6 work on this model if so where can i get?
