Samsung Galaxy S :: Phone Reboots When Connected To USB
Sep 14, 2010
I installed the vibrant4 ROM, and everything ran great.
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743769&page=1
I decided to upgrade to the vibrant 9 rom... the phone works except if i plug in the USB... it reboots and the battery charger attempts to charge then 1sec later it reboots again, and again and again.
I want to connect this to USB so I can use Odin and restore the original ROM. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?

I have discovered an error in my phone which seems to occur only when connected through 3G (not WIFI).
What happens is the following: I turn/have the phone with 3G on and turn on the youtube app. I click on a movie and the whole phone completely reboots immediately; i.e. I get the whole "HTC quietly brilliant" intro screen and have to enter my PIN again.
I have downloaded a log scanner and ran through the above specified actions (phone rebooted again) and it saved everything that happened according to the log. When wanting to send the log to my e-mail, the phone rebooted immediately again(!). I turned it on again, shut 3G off and went on WIFI. After this I sent the log to my e-mail. No problems. My sister has a Desire as well and has no such problem...
So, now I have this log and was hoping someone would let me send it to him/her and have a look at it to find a clue as to what's wrong.. Maybe I have to bring the phone back or maybe it can be solved in a less troublesome way (read: I can keep this wonderful apparatus with me...!

I recently purchased a GTI-i9000. GPS on it is terrible and I have ready many forums with other users experiencing the same problems. I was thinking, and wanted to clear up a cloudy understanding. On my previous phone (iPhone 3G), when I was not connected to WiFi, I was still able to browse webpages etc, albeit slowly. Is that called GPRS? The form of data?
On my Galaxy, I cannot do this at all. If I am not connected to a WiFi connection, I have 0 internet. I'm just wondering if this is the cause of my dodgy GPS. Is there a setting i need to change or does the SGS not do internet if you're not connected to WiFi. I live in Australia if that helps at all.

The "USB Connected" notification stays on after the USB is disconnected, there's no way to evict it other than a reboot but now will reboot only if USB is reconnected to PC or Charger.I was so pleased by my new Galaxy S cell 3 days ago after a week of exploring and managing to get the best carrier and plan for this bright Samsung Smartphone. Then, the day after it lockup, but removing the battery for few seconds then replacing it back fixed that problem for that day. The following day been great too up the second lockup at night and this time, removing temporarily the battery did not permit to have the cell working anymore. So today I have been trying all day to determine under what condition these lockups occur. During those tests, I've first determined that during charging or during USB PC connection, I could repower up the Galaxy S. Then the cell could work for long period of time if connected to USB PC or power supply, but when I remove the USB cable, the firmware fail to detect that there is no more USB connection and start to flash every couple of seconds the message "USB connected" replacing the status bar at the top of the screen.
Then after several minutes, the cell freeze, and only by removing for few seconds the battery and then plugging the charger again, will permit to successfully power up the phone.I have of course made a Hard Reset to Factory Default, to no avail, during those tests. I think it's a hardware malfunctioning around the USB Port section. The connector look good seen with loop and both USB cable seem ok.If it's corrected by an update, I wonder if I'll be able to re-flash under this condition.

On the galaxy s. Wondering if there was a way to get the phone to auto answer when and only when the headset that come with the phone are plugged in? i.e. with head set plugged in auto answer
no headset plugged in just act as normal. Hopefully I am just missing something obvious as I can see the option to enable auto answer but this seems to be regardless of weather or not there is a headset plugged in. If this is not possible is there a a way to shortcut the enable and disabling of auto answer rather than having to go through all the menus?

I posted this earlier but it disappeared? When the phone is unplugged, it says USB connected, and all of the icons are missing from the top of the homepage (time, signal strength, 3g, etc). The pull down menu is also hard to pull down then is real jerky when it does pull down. When the phone is plugged in, it has the signal for the USB and all the icons return, It also shows a full battery, then tho it is not.

When connecting my Galaxy-S to the Samsung Kies software, my telephone shows up with an incorrect telephone number. I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.

My galaxy s duos gt s7562L is crazy, the wifi does not turn, it becomes bright green color, and when it does turn on only for two or three seconds and then my phone reboots, I have to remove the battery to stop doing that.
Sometimes I turn it on and do not touch, and I want to unlock it after 45 minutes I realize that is off.

i've recently been encountering random reboots on my Galaxy Note 3 (N9005), on stock 4.4.2 ROM.
The reboot occurs regardless of time, foreground/background running apps, battery level and anything else i can think of. for instance, it can just instantly hang+auto-reboot while i'm browsing facebook, surfing on chrome, switching tracks on poweramp, or even when the screen is off doing nothing (deep sleep)!
I've tried to uninstall some of the recent installed apps, but still unable to find any culprit. is there any way i can identify the culprit, without resorting to factory-reset for my device? i spent a lot of time doing the configuration for each app that i use, and wouldn't want to repeat the whole process..

I've had a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for just over a year. A few weeks ago, I updated to Android 4.2.2 whilst visiting my parent's house and it started continually rebooting itself. I did a factory reset (or two) before figuring out that it's entirely down to the WiFi. If I get in quick enough and don't allow it to connect, the problem stops, and it only occurs with the WiFi at my parent's house (though it always worked fine before the update). I've tried unplugging the WiFi repeater, which was a relatively new addition to the house, but it hasn't made a difference.

I came back home and connected my Galaxy Ace to my home wifi, but this time, it wasn't transferring any data.. It would be connected, full signal, but no internet connection.. My browser, gmail, YouTube, PlayStore, nothing would load.. It'd keep saying Connection Error. Retry. My WiFi works properly on the computer and other devices, and my phone used to work perfectly too.

This is my third phone and I'm staying to give up. A little while ago I plugged my phone into included wall charger and for some reason the phone thought it was a computer. It even said "usb connected". It also have me the option to mount it, which I did. I reset my factory settings and the same thing. So,I disconnected my wall charger and noticed that the usb connector wasn't completely on, so I never it a gentle push to secure it and now I don't have that same issue. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't unmount the phone since I figured that out doesn't matter since it's not plugged in to an actual computer.

I tried to load Cyanogenmod on my galaxy nexus. unfortunately I had copied one of the nightly update files instead of a stable version. so the install did'nt work and I did a factory reset from recovery mode. Now the computer doesn't even recognize my phone any more, when I connect it via USB. and my phone is stuck on the google screen when I try to turn it on.

I have a Galaxy S3 on the Bell Mobile network in Canada, and aside from the horrendous battery life, it's a pretty good phone. One thing I notice that's kinda annoying is the "Connected to Wi-Fi network [network name]" pop-up that comes up quite often. I've managed to snap a screenshot of it.
How to disable this? The only info I've found so far is on the Verizon pop-ups, and entering the *#6335623# code on the dial screen, but nothing comes up when I try that, and I'm not even sure that fix would work for this.

So far, I'm loving this phone, despite the glitches that it suffers from.
In an attempt to get the battery conditioned, I ran the phone all the way down yesterday, powered it off, and charged it overnight.
One thing I noticed is that when the phone got down under 15%, there were a handful of times that the interface would freeze briefly for a few seconds, and then the phone would reboot itself.
Eventually, I ran it down the the point where, after it rebooted, it would tell me that the battery was too low and that it was shutting off.
I would expect that if the phone were shutting down because of a low battery, it would prompt me somehow to let me know, instead of just rebooting.
Has anyone else noticed this same behavior? I've only had the phone for a few days, but so far, it's only done the reboot thing when the battery was under 15%.

I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with their Samsung Moment rebooting by itself. Mine has been doing this at least once a day. I am running 2.1 that was updated at the Sprint store, however, it was doing it before this. I have had the phone a week.

I did a search on this topic and didn't find anything specific to the BH2. Has anyone else experienced this? I got the phone yesterday and the phone has already crashed twice. It's almost as if the phone has died, but I can't turn it on or anything. I have to remove the battery and then turn it on. This can't be normal. Should I head back and get a different one?

So my phone spontaneously rebooted today:
http://androidforums.com/captivate-all-things-root/210476-brand-new-captivate-rebooted-today.html
Is there a common app that may be causing this? Only thing I thought of was either the app Battery Booster, which selectively shuts down running processes to conserve battery, or Lookout, which is an antivirus and back up. Any thoughts?
