I just got the samsung captivate and i have all my ringtone on my SD card, but when i put the card in it doesnt show my ringtones when i wanna use them. I cant even find them to move them..also what is the talk app on our phone..i know its for chatting but how do u use it?

i did that 1 click lag fix and now when i plug in my captivate in my laptop it doesnt show the mount option....doesnt show the little symbol on the top left showing its connected. i tried turning on debugging and nothing....i turned my phone off and on still nothing....

View 10 Replies View Relatedi put loads music on my sd card, the phone found them no problem. i set 3 folders for alarm,notification and ringtone, but when i go through the phone sound setting to change them, it doesnt come up on the list , just the preset/preloaded tones. what am i doing wrong? do the folders need to be put in a certain place, or what.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no SD card yet (its on order now) but I have 20 tones already that I downloaded from Zedge - can I use them now for sms and ringtones without the card then just add them to the physical card once it arrives? I have tried but with no success. I am able to play them in the player just not assign them as. My only guess is it is because I have no SD card yet. I searched the forum but found no topic quite like this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got my Captivate this past weekend and love it so far. I came over from the HTC Aria so I am a little Android savvy. Question is this. I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. Thirdly, I want to access the external SD card when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, but for the life of me, these 3 issues I cant seem to resolve and they were cake on the HTC.

And my second question, my phone doesnt connect to my computer right. I plugged it in, it said it didnt have the right software or something, so i went and downloaded the the Vista 64 bit thing thats stickied on here. I plug it in, and the "you have the wrong software" thing was gone, but nothing else happpened. The screen says its connected and it vibrates and i hear the noise thru the computer, so what am i doing wrong. I read somewhere that you pull down the little bar at the top and hit dock or something like that. I cant do that. If i can pull it down theres no buttons to hit. Can someone walk me thru this process? FIXED
My friend texted me his ringtone that is in mp3 format. I saved the MMS to my phone. Now where do I move that file in order for it to come up as an option to be a ringtone?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to JH7, and realized that I can no longer use my own specific audio files as ringtones anymore...its only letting me use the stock ringtones. When I go to Settings > Sound and Display > Voice call ringtone , the only ringtones I can choose from are the ones that came with the phone. It's the only thing that pops up. Theres nothing for me to click anymore that lets me search my android system for audio files.

When I navigate to the MP3 that I want as my ringtone, I tap the menu button to find the "Set as" option, but that option seems to have been removed altogether! Am I missing something here, or have AT&T and/or Samsung decided that we're not allowed to set our personal MP3's as ringtones and therefore are forced to either do without, or buy them from wherever? So I thought logically I can place my dialog show at the beginning before processing begins, and cancel it at the end. My device HTC desire doesnt show SMS sender name upon recieving sms(local sms), instead showing the sender number.I am having this sender in my contact list. There is no issues while recieving international SMS, only having problem with local sms. But when the same person calls me, its displaying the caller name correctly.
What would be the reason?
I am in QATAR where country code is +974.
I tried the following.Contacts saved with the country code(+974)
- then its showing the name when sms is recieved, but call recieving
stopped showing caller name - only number is shown.
One thing i noticed is, while recieving SMS, the sender number is preceeded by country code(+974) while recieving a call only caller number is there.
Its working when u click it but doest show that i downloaded it. no way to unistall.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI always create calendar appointments with an alarm. A few days ago I went to Settings/Sound and Display/Notification Ring tone and set it to "on time". Maybe a day or two later I created my own notification ring tone and set it in settings. The ring tone works fine in Astrid and Nudist. However, the calendar notifications still use the "on time" ring tone. I even tried changing the notification ring tone to "tweeters" but calendar still uses "on time", even after multiple reboots.

Now I am trying to link to them and all I get is library. Are the ringtones in the wrong location? The basic process of setting it to a contact (as listed in many places) doesnt seem to work.

It's annoying that when I download ringtones on my Captivate, it puts them right into my music files so that when I'm listening to music, the ringtones pop up and play every once in awhile. View 3 Replies View RelatedTotally new to "smart phones" and feeling pretty dumb right now I have managed to download a bunch of sounds (mpga) and saved them in my "sounds" folder on my Captivate. And following advice, have gone into my Contacts, scrolled down, and assigned a file as ringtone, then hit "Save". When viewing the contact, it shows the file as being assigned as their ringtone. And then when the call comes in.... Rings as default. Whats going on? Do the sounds have to be in the Ringtone folder? If yes, how do I do that? If no, what am I doing wrong?

I picked up the Captivate the other day and so far I love it but is there a way to assign custom non-Samsung message tones? I mean for texts and emails, calender alerts. When I open the apps and go to settings then change alert tone only the Samsung preloaded ones show up. I can choose any ringtone for calling, just not messaging. I downloaded several apps such as SMS Pop-Up and Chomp SMS to see if that would give me the option to choose any tone but no such luck. My last 2 phones have been a Blackberry Bold 9000 and a Backflip and both those phones had those capabilities. Anyone have any ideas?
