Samsung Captivate :: Way To Show Ringtones In Media Player?
Jul 19, 2010Ringtones I put in the ringtones folder are also showing up in the Samsung media player. Is there a way to avoid this?

Nov 29, 2010I just got the samsung captivate and i have all my ringtone on my SD card, but when i put the card in it doesnt show my ringtones when i wanna use them. I cant even find them to move them..also what is the talk app on our phone..i know its for chatting but how do u use it?

Nov 12, 2010How do I get my custom ringtones from rooted media folder to show up in selection menus?
I am rooted and have successfully copied .ogg .wav or .mp3 ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones, notifications or alarms folders. I can even play them from those folders on press.
My hassle is I am not able to select these as my tones. They don't show up in the menus. I want them in the root because if I am connected to my pc and an email/text/call comes in that is assigned a Custom tone on sd, then my tones revert back to a default tone and I have to reset them all when i disconnect from pc

Aug 23, 2010I have all (almost all) of my movies ripped to Divx/Xvid as .avi files.What player is best suited to playing these? I tried the stock players & they didn't work. will Doubletwist play them? I really don't want to convert them over again.Also, coming from the iPhone, I loved the way it synced my podcasts - I see that people rally like Isyncr. Is that the best app to use? At this point, until I re-think my home media integration solution, I want to stay with iTunes.

Sep 2, 2010Does anyone know how to skip audiobook mp3 files in Media Player. It's especially troublesome when trying to listen to music on random. I guess I could make a playlist, but I have thousands of songs I'd have to add. What I would really like to do is just exclude the Audiobook folder from the Music Player all together.

Nov 8, 2010Anyone else noticed their phone making peculiar playlists for their MP3's? I made 3 playlists using doubleTwist and put them on my phone and when I rebooted my phone yesterday my phone had created several other playlists on it's own each with no more than 3 or 4 songs in it. Anyone else noticed anything similar to this at any point?

At first, I was able to set ringtones for when people call me but I tried to do something on my memory card so that I could get ringtones as my text message alert so I put everything under "notifications" "alarms". Then I realized there was no ringtones anymore. Okay so now the only way I can set a ringtone is through the music player thing. I've reformatted my whole memory card thinking that would help but it didnt.

Apr 20, 2010On my HTC Legend, when I download podcasts using Listen, BeyondPod, or Dpod, the downloaded .mp3 files are not visible on the android music player widget. Nor are they visible on btunes, even if I enable the audio books/podcasts features on btunes and hard-set the sdfolder path to where the .mp3 files are stored. On the music widget, I do see an empty "podcasts" playlist, but if I tell it to update, I get a "force close" error. Any ideas?

Jul 22, 2010I have tried the default music player that is installed with the Droid-X. I've also bought the bTunes player and installed the MixZing player (free version). What is wrong that, by default, all list the tracks of an album in alphabetical order? At least bTunes will let you optionally sort by original track order (although the way given by bTunes is counter-intuitive and you have to start playing a track before you can sort).
By default, all albums should display in original track order. I suppose that for those who have difficulty reading, perhaps an option to list tracks in alphabetical order might be in order for ADA compliance or something. Otherwise, when I browse one of my albums, I want to see it in the order that the original artist intended.

Jul 6, 2010This is my first Android phone, and I'm fairly confused as to how I am to go about this problem. I've tried putting them in /media/audio/ringtones as well as the .nomedia text file solution, but unless I am doing something wrong, or it just works differently with this phone, the files still appear in the Music Player app.

Sep 8, 2010I am having an issue with my M3U playlists.
I use the default Samsung media player, Isyncr and Itunes. Although I have also used the Doubletwist Player (not the desktop software) and had the same issue, I just prefer the Samsung default player mainly because of the lock screen app.
Here is the issue.
First, I sync my playlists with Itunes using Isyncr, all of the songs come over great, art and tags, everything is perfect. It also creates M3U playlists on my phone. I double checked that everything is there.
Then when I unmount, media scanner scans my SD card (which takes way longer than it should) and it deletes all of my playlists. Now a little research on XDA forums tells me that this is because anytime the media scanner scans a playlist and can't find all of the songs from that playlist, it assumes it is an old playlist and deletes it. The problem is that when I look through the M3U files, every song referenced in the list is on the card...they are all there, yet it keeps deleting them.
Does anyone know of a solution to make it stop deleting my playlists?

Sep 26, 2010I recently upgraded to JH7, and realized that I can no longer use my own specific audio files as ringtones anymore...its only letting me use the stock ringtones. When I go to Settings > Sound and Display > Voice call ringtone , the only ringtones I can choose from are the ones that came with the phone. It's the only thing that pops up. Theres nothing for me to click anymore that lets me search my android system for audio files.

When I navigate to the MP3 that I want as my ringtone, I tap the menu button to find the "Set as" option, but that option seems to have been removed altogether! Am I missing something here, or have AT&T and/or Samsung decided that we're not allowed to set our personal MP3's as ringtones and therefore are forced to either do without, or buy them from wherever? Has anyone figured out a workaround and/or fix to this problem?
