i put loads music on my sd card, the phone found them no problem. i set 3 folders for alarm,notification and ringtone, but when i go through the phone sound setting to change them, it doesnt come up on the list , just the preset/preloaded tones. what am i doing wrong? do the folders need to be put in a certain place, or what.

I just got the samsung captivate and i have all my ringtone on my SD card, but when i put the card in it doesnt show my ringtones when i wanna use them. I cant even find them to move them..also what is the talk app on our phone..i know its for chatting but how do u use it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC incredible 2 days ago. When I first got it it had no sd card, so i went back to the store and the guy gave me one. But even after putting the sd card in the device the device still doesnt recognize it. When I go to the settings and click on sd card and phone storage under sd card it says, total space: unavailable, available space: unavailable. this is a major problem cause now i cant download files or use several applications or features. ive tried taking it out and putting it back in, restarting the phone, and formatting the sd card to no avail. i'm no tech expert, but pretty tech savvy. This problem, though, has me pulling my hair out. it seems like a lot of ppl have been having the same problem, but no one has any answer that seems to be working. im going to the store tomorrow to see if its a problem with the sd card, but wanted to check if it was a problem with the phone or if anyone else has had the same problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Hero on o2 (an unlocked G2 Touch to be specific) which is set up to connect to my work email using the on-board mail app (the non-gmail one). As I have folders for my emails, I use IMAP both within Outlook 2003 at work and on the Hero. This all worked swimmingly for about 2 months and then recently I have noticed that I have been getting a lot fewer emails both on the Hero and within Outlook. I have also seen emails which I received during the day in Outlook disappearing after about an hour or so. I have spoken to my email provider and they tested it by sending me an email (genius) which strangely is still present in outlook, although it didn't appear on my hero. So in summary, it seems that I have two problems - my hero doesnt seem to download any emails, and my IMAP account is losing emails. I should probably add that my hero is configured to show all emails (irrespective of age or size). I have also checked my webmail and the emails are missing from there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have recently noticed that my Sprint HTC Hero (Stock and unrooted) has been receiving texts in a weird way. I doesnt notify me when the screen is off. If I turn on the screen I will receive notification as soon as I turn the screen on, but when I look at the time stamp it is usually old. Like 5 minutes or so. It doesnt do this all the time, just today I left my phone in my car (so I could charge it) while I was at work when I went out to my car the light was blinking and when i turned on the screen it said I had 2 texts, however, just as I get off work I responed back to my friends and when I got home when I looked at the phone nothing was going on. I turn the screen on and then my phone vibrates and notifies me but the time stamp on the text is 10 minutes old.

I have tried but with no success. I am able to play them in the player just not assign them as. My only guess is it is because I have no SD card yet. View 10 Replies View RelatedSo just yesterday 12-1-09 my phone stopped receiving text messages and phone calls. People try to call me and get 4 rings then voicemail. My phone doesnt ring at all. I can place calls and browse the internet, run sprint navigation and all my apps just fine. It has been a perfect phone ever since I bought it. (11-01-09). I did a factory Hard Reset and still my phone didnt receive calls. Called Sprint and they had me turn off my phone and refreshed some info. Had to change the MSID # when i turned my phone back on but still nothing. Has anyone else had this happen to them. The only way I can receive my text messages is if I place a call then they seem to come through.

Compared to a Windows Mobile device where everything is as simple as dragging and dropping into folders, this phone gives me such headaches with its overly simplistic (and limited) processes. threads on making your own mp3 ringtone, I've got a kick-ass sampling from The Church's "Under the Milky Way" (you know the part. The synth bagpipe bridge). BUT I can only save it to the storage card. Which isn't a problem except until I get some spare cash, I can't quite swing a 16gb yet. Lots of little 512mb (don't laugh!) cards that I swap frequently (and I'd like a little sit-down with the person who designed the card slot cover to only be opened by gerbil paws). Is there a way to save my custom ringtone directly to the phone? Or will I have to stick it on every card until that glorious payday when I can get a 16gb?

It happens when I mount the card on a PC or Mac, and I'm ejecting before pulling the cable on both.
I have a bunch of custom ringtones in mp3 format on my sd card. When I attach a file and pic to send as mms in handscent they are all alphabetical but in 2 sections. i'll scroll down through a-z, then after that it starts a-z again with other rigntones. They are all stored in same folder. Why is there 2 sections of ringtones instead of just all in one a-z list?

I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. Thirdly, I want to access the external SD card when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, but for the life of me, these 3 issues I cant seem to resolve and they were cake on the HTC.

I tried to email myself a ring tone on my Fascinate and it comes through, gives you the option to preview it, but no option to save it to the sd card. Does anyone know how to do this? I ask because I have friends that swap ring tones around and it is now impossible to do this for me.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI discovered something interesting today. I installed some custom ringtones to my SD card last night by creating a ringtones folder on the SD card and copying the ringtones into that folder.
I then selected one of the custom ringtones as my default ringer.
Today my battery was drained over 60% by 11am. (unplugged at 6:30am)
Before adding the custom ringtones, I was easily making it to the evening hours without any battery problems.
I checked the battery status and was alarmed to see that my up time and awake time were nearly 1 for 1!
I rebooted the phone thinking there was a run away app. After being up for an hour, same problem, a 1 to 1 ratio.
The battery use indicated Cell Standy as number 1 with Android System as number 2.
I knew something was wrong as usually Phone Idle is number 2 in my list.
So, I deleted the Ringtones folder I created on the SD card and rebooted.
I checked the phone over the last couple hours and awake time an up times are back to normal, as is my battery use indicator.
Long story short, it appears that the system may have been staying awake to keep the SD card powered since my default ringtone resided on the SD card?
I have a hero on Vodafone, am i being dumb or can you not set mp3's as ring tones ?
