No connectivity at all on my Captivate. Wifi networks can't be saved, and the 3G symbol is up there, but there's nothing being transmitted or received. Should I do a factory reset? The phone part works, as does messaging, but nothing else.

I have the Samsung captivate and it usually has no problems connecting to WiFi networks but it can't connect to my home network. It recognizes the network but I can't use send/receive any data. My two laptops have no problem connecting to my network but I can't get my phone to. Additionally, my Wii has the same problem. It recognizes the network but can't do anything. Its probably a router problem but their support was useless, so I thought I would try here.

View 12 Replies View Relatedi cant connect my captivate to my computer.it was fine at first now it doesn't work.when i connect my phone to my computer i do the following:
1)select mass storage
2)scroll the top menu down and select mount USB
3)press mount
I rooted my captivate thinking that i could install apps that are blocked on my phone, like Sirius XM, WiFI tethering.....even after rooting the programs are still being blocked and i cant install them. am i missing something? im new to android and had an iphone that i jail broke. im confused on what rooting actually.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried searching and didn't have any luck with results, so I apologize if it's been covered, but I'm having difficulties connecting my Captivate to my PC via USB to transfer pictures/data/music.I've had the phone for a few months now but this is the first time I've really attempted to connect, as my pictures are piling up and I'd like to back them up for safekeeping.I already had the drivers downloaded months ago when I first got the phone but when I connected it today, I got a message that Windows (Win 7, 64-bit) failed to recognize the device. I went out, using the link in the Captivate Guide here (which is where I got them initially), and redownloaded the drivers to ensure I had the appropriate/most current version. Installed them, made sure the phone was set to 'Mass Storage' in USB settings, and still fail to connect when I plug the USB cord in. Windows fails to recognize the phone as a device and errors out each time.I tried putting it into USB Debugging Mode, but still get the same thing. I tried 'Ask on connection', I tried Kies, etc and nothing will work.Am I missing a step here, or doing something wrong? This has been extremely frustrating.

View 14 Replies View RelatedAnyone have trouble getting a PC connection with their captivate? I've had mines for a few weeks now and up until today I cannot get it to make a connection with the PC. The drivers are ok on the PC, it seems to be something with the Captivate.The screen says initializing and seems to cycle between the home screen and USB screen but doesn't establish a connection.

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy husband currently has the Epic. Picked it up for him launch day and sent it out to Iraq the next day. He received it today.He had an Evo before the epic and never had this issue. the issue he's having is, obviously he doesn't pick up sprint service out in iraq, but with his evo he was able to pick up wifi and connect to google talk, qik, etc.his epic is allowing him to connect to a wifi signal, but it won't allow him to connect to google talk, qik, etc. it keeps saying "can't connect to server". like i said, he never had this issue with the evo.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy SGS (well its actually my wife's but I use it also) will not connect to WiFi networks, other than the one we have at home. If we are out, the phone will be able to see lots of WiFi networks, but it cannot connect to any of them as it says the signal is poor. Other people can be sat right next to other with other phones and have no problem connecting and they have strong signals. At home it will connect, but even then there is only one bar of signal, even though the router is in the same room. It appears that the phone just cannot get a strong enough signal to connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to get my phone to connect to wifi - any wifi, not just my home wifi - since the middle of August. I don't have any sort of data plan, just the basic texting-and-minutes dealio. This is what happens at the Wifi Settings screen:
- It says it's scanning
- It tries to auto-connect to my home wifi
- It says 'authenticating with (my home wifi)'
- After a few seconds it says 'disconnected'
- My home wifi in the Wifi Networks section of the screen is listed as 'disabled'.
- The process starts all over again.
As I said this has been like this since August, but it was never a problem before. I really don't want to buy a new phone. I need to get this sorted out in less than five days, so hit me with everything you got, even if it's not likely.
Info that might be useful (I don't know phones very well):
- Android version is 2.2.2
- Baseband version is I5510UGKC5
- Build number is FROYO.UGKC5
- My wifi is Motorola with Eastlink
Also I've had a problem with the app store for months...relevant? And: I used to have data but I switched my plan...never heard of a plan that didn't include WIFI though, good grief. And: my 'battery use' panel says Wifi only accounts for 3%...I seem to remember this should be way higher, if it were connected at all.
I've had my Samsumg S4 mini for four months now and everything was perfectly fine.I've been able to connect to the WI-FI at home but now it just keeps saying 'authentication error'.I restarted my phone several times, 'forgotten' the WI-FI and re-entered the password but it still does not connect to the WI-FI.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Samsung Captivate and it works pretty well (even the GPS) however, when I try to update is (manually) it takes forever trying to connect to the server and in the end it never does (and thus I cannot connect for another twenty-four hours).So I said ok, i'll use Kies to update the phone, so I download Kies and try - however, the when I connect Kies says "The Device is not supported by Kies" and as such I cannot interact with my phone in this manner.

I am on Galaxo 1.6.3 , its an amazing o.s btw , currently I am facing a little problem , my phone does not auto connect to my home wifi , I have to manually go into settings >> wifi settings >> and then select my wifi from there , since it requires time and effort I end up using my 3G network which is burning an hole in my pocket.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung GS3 won't connect to my Uni's wifi. It connects to every other wifi, except my Uni's. This is a problem because I'm on low Mobile Data allowance, and that's because I didn't know my phone wouldn't be able to connect to my Uni's wifi...
And it's something wrong with mine (which is specifically a 4g/lte), since my friend has a Samsung GS3, and that connects fine.
Anyways, I think it has something to do with the 802.1x EAP wifi's... when I try to connect, it just keeps saying connecting and sometimes ends up "Authorization error".

since i have got my my metro phone i have had issues connecting to my homes wifi and i havent been able to get it to work it came with an app metropcs easy wifi wich seemed to be the problem so i froze it and i still have problems connecting and staying connected to my wifi

So every so often I go into Settings and then go to Software Update, click "Check for Update", click OK and for the past couple weeks it has ALWAYS told me that it failed to connect to AT&T's servers. If I try and check again it tells me that 24 hours has not elapsed since I made my last request. (Even though that request failed).
I've tried it in Airplane mode with Wi-Fi enabled and I've tried it in normal mode but using Wi-Fi and in 3G mode (not connected to any Wi-Fi network).
The day I got my phone I was able to retrieve an update (so it used to work) and I have not rooted my phone or "mucked with it" in any fashion.
What happens when YOU menu>settings>softwareupdate>checkforupdate? MY phone says unable to connect to ATT Server. I just got this phone a week ago and am worried that when 2.2 DOES become available I wont be able to download it.
